Liara could kick anyone's ass in a fight and fit them into a coffee cup afterward. :D:wub:<3:wub:

I love The Beautiful Blue Goddess so much.<3:wub:
Shepard and the Lovely Liara make quite a couple.<3:wub:

Liara tells you why sifting through Shepard's head is exhausting. When you tell her that you came across a working Prothean Beacon she says that she's impressed, that Shepard must be remarkably strong-willed because those beacons destroy minds. And the beacon on Eden Prime blew up in mid-transfer and knocked Shepard out to boot.
So when she is melding in the conference room she is reliving Shepards exposure to those mind-destroying beacons, in which one of them blew up, and also fighting against Shepard's subconscious the whole time. Shiala on Feros doesn't sort through Shepard being exposed to the beacon, she transfers the Cipher from herself to Shepard.
My impression is that they can share physical sensation, sort through/transfer information, form a union which is a mental and phyiscal joining, and then the version of the union wherein they also initiate parthogenesis and fertilize the gamete with the gestalt nervous system.

Did you notice the perplexed look Shiala has on her face just after giving Shepard the cipher? she saw more then just giving it, imho

LesEnfantsTerribles,
Is it just me, or does Liara have a little bit of a tummy in that picture?    Not that I think it detracts from her beauty

Yeah, and actually I have ALWAYS wondered what was up with that.  She seems almost angry or something there for a second.  And I thought maybe it was because we'd killed Benezia, since I usually do Noveria first, but then I did Feros before Noveria, and she still gets that look on her face.  Argh, now I'm going to be obsessed with that again.

It's that armor from me1, made all females look like they either had a bit of a tummy or they had serious sway-backsImage IPB

I've got that whole scene on Fraps just so I could study it, there is something going on in Shiala's mind over that transfer and ME2 encounter with her didn't help me much on figureing it out, felt like telling her, "Ah, No, Liara is the only one for me, shoo"

The only things I could figure it could be was Benezia, which doesn't seem to be the case.  Then I thought maybe since she does have the Cipher herself that maybe she can soak the Beacons without stress and she saw what Saren was up to, but you'd think she would have seen that when she gave the Cipher to Saren.  Plus she does seem genuinely remorseful and wants to help, and denies knowing what Saren is up to.
So the only thing I could think of that wasn't disproven, was that she is intimidated/perplexed a bit by how awesome Shepard's mind is.  And I do think there is something weird with Shepard's mind, partially from being strong-willed, but I also think that Beacon exploding did something.  Then Shepard gets exposed to a ton of other Prothean psionic devices, especially if you do the sidemissions.  Shiala makes a big deal of the Cipher, and then Shepard just soaks it all up without a problem and stands there going "Hmm." for a few seconds .

That's a beautiful picture. Look at Liara's eyes. Thanks!

And yes, it was the armour making it look like she had a bit of a tummy. She had a perfect physique when Liara and Shepard "Embraced Eternity". :P

They say that we only use 10% of our brain nowdays, I kinda thought that maybe with all the exposures, as you say, Shepard's brain is running more in the 50%-75% or more. it befuddles Shiala and exhausts Liara out, since for Liara anyway it's her first time melding, the thoughtful look Shepard has after the cipher transfer adds to that thought as well.

I agree, that look could just be about her thinking to herself...I didn't know humans minds were this complex and developed. Shepard is special for sure. But I think other races look down on humans, to see that we aren't as simple as they think, something of a bully as Liara calls it, surprises her.

Well Liara says she's never entered a union with anyone, like as in a sexual relations context.  I think it'd be a bit weird if asari didn't use the information meld amongst themselves for at least teaching purposes, if not the casual sharing of experiences.  I've even wondered if mothers might not talk to, or at least comfort, their daughters in the womb.
I do think that Liara becomes exhausted partly because of Shepard being Shepard, but also because she is processing Shepard's exposure to the Beacons and she does make a point of how rare it is for anyone to be able to get any information from them, let alone come away without their mind destroyed.
Shiala already has the Cipher herself and can process Prothean psionics, but I definitely do think she sees something about Shepard that freaks her out a bit.

Ok this is the piece I was working on. Tried to do a background on this one. Only ever drawn a background once before, so I do need more practice with them. I mainly don’t do them because of the time it takes, and to me it’s just filler for the character. But this one sort of needed it to come across right. Liara just in a swimsuit seems wrong to me. But Liara in a swimsuit relaxing but working at the same time fits a bit better…. I think. Let me know what you think.

Very well done Shadowcat. It's a great contrast between relaxation and working.

I like the idea of the theme in this one using the snowflakes to illustrate the idea of Noveria. I think it could be pushed even further. :)

Oh I agree, didn't mean it as her only ever meld, just her first time with a human and a complex mind at that, can't imagine all that stuff floating around in Shepards mind would sit easy with anyone. Liara's meld (before the romance) was deeper in that she has to help sort out some of that floating *stuff* where as Shiala just was suppose to give the cipher, but she got more out of that then she thought. I think anyway.

Hmm, that is an interesting way of looking at that picture, that it's a reference to Noveria as a whole. If it weren't for the snowflakes, I'd say Benezia's presence in the pic would be a little out of place, considering that the main focus of the picture seems to be intended to be Liara. If the intention were to showcase what happens to Liara on Noveria, then Benezia being in the pic makes a little more sense.

You know when you think about it, Liara has had ALOT of growing up? sort of speaking, tossed at her from the point of being freed from the force field on Therum to her being an Information broker on Illium, for 50 years she's been puttering about ruins, then suddenly sought after by Saren, meets Shepard, her Mother dies, they chase Saren, save the galaxy, then looses Shepard, man that's a lota crap to deal with within 2 or so years, it's a wonder she hasn't gone off the deep end.

Unata, both of those pictures are stunning, I love them. Liara looks absolutely beautiful. I'd say her facial expression looks to be one of feeling unsure, and slightly nervous. Probably some of the emotions she was experiencing whilst she was trapped in the bubble, heh. The second one looks like she's just pulling her normal straight face.

JP, I did notice that too. The picture is great though, and the fact that she's got Shepard's screen up shows she still cares. Who was focusing on the screens in that, though? I certainly wasn't! ;-)

@Unata:
Both those pictures are really cute (I love the first one. But hey, I love all pictures of Liara).<3:wub:
She almost seems like she is up to something cutely mischievous in the first picture (it seems like that to me anyway), the second one looks like she is focused on something in front of her while in deep thought.

I think we actually use 100% percent of our brains though, the 10% myth was started by Albert Einstien and caught on during the 1920-1930s as using 10%.
What he really  meant that we don't use our full potential in everyday life and we can become content with the way things are in the world instead of trying to fix them.

Another way to think of using 100% of our brains would be the devestating neurological effects that take place when any part of the cerebral cortex is damaged.
People sometimes mistake diseases such as Parkinsons and Huntington as being purly genetical, but depending on what part of your cerebral cortex is damaged (be it a car accident or a bar fight) the exact same diseases can show up with the exact same symptoms. I am rambling now, lol.

I do get what you mean though, Shepard's brain chemistry was probably changed with all that happened to her.
I wonder if they will ever go into detail with it, I mean, she even knows the Prothean language now. Those types of things don't just happen without some sort of major neurological changes.

Nice spotting JP Image IPB. I was also thinking of having a third screen there with T.I.M on it, but thought it would be too much.
