Liara should have been playable in ME2, not Tali, or Garrus for that matter. They made the most interesting alien character from ME1 a minor side character. Wow, super lame.

Welcome to what our threads are all about :D

Well, it's under two weeks now until the final issue of Redemption is released. Really eager to find out what is happening with Liara in ME2, as there's definitely more to it than meets the eye. Is she being manipulated by TIM? We'll find out soon enough.

My first post of the day, so I want to repost this absolutely beautiful Liara pic. She's absolutely gorgeous!

I am assuming you are talking about when Cerberus rebuilds him. If that is the case, why would Cerberus even have Liara help them rebuild him. I find that to be very unlikely given their take on aliens as a whole, and if TIM is actually manipulating her as we believe, why would he let her even close to him during his rebuilding stage?

I don;t believe she had anything to do withCerberus rebuilding him. If that is what we are talking abut here.

TIM is all about using tools to get what he wants done.  He doesn't care what shape those tools are as long as they get done what he wants.  So he has Liara recover the body.  He provides dossiers for recruiting a mostly alien squad for Shepard.  The reasons why Liara should have been necessary to bring back "Shepard" are listed two posts down from the one you quoted.

I realize what the reasons are... I'm saying they are not necessary and would not need Liara to 'watch over' so to speak. His/her neurological patterns would have already been altered by melding with Liara. As long as Cerberus brought him back exactly as he was, those patterns would still be there. Hence why TIM did not want Miranda to use a control chip. Also... Miranda states in one of her vid logs as you are escaping the station that if they didn't bring you back exactly as you were Lazurus would have failed.

Yes TIM is a master manipulator... however he is not stupid. There is no possible way I see him letting Liara even close to Shepard once Cerberus has the body. He would not want her unduly influencing him in any way when he fully woke up. Again... he starts out manipulating right away when he tells Shepard she works for the SB and she actually does not.

Yeah, the thread always starts to drop when the folks in North America are still asleep. Need to post a bit more I think.

I know a few people around here like fan fiction, so I thought I'd let you know about this one: http://www.fanfictio...ince_of_Shadows. One of the best ones I've read, still being finished off but definitely worth a read.

Here's an interesting question for you guys. I was thinking about the whole idea of a mission to help Liara hunt down the SB, either in DLC or ME3 and, I would assume, that the format of it would be similar to the loyalty missions for your ME 2 party (although hopefully a little longer).

Now, in pretty much everyones loyalty mission (Garrus, Miranda, Jack, Mordin, Jacob etc.), there's the chance for a paragon interrupt or dialouge option that convinces them that killing the person they've been hunting/betrayed them isn't the right thing to do. Even Zaeed, who's spent the last 20 years of his life planning revenge on this guy can be brought around to your point of view with a sufficient paragon score.

So, here's the question. If, at the end of Liara's mission, you've finally got the SB at gun-point (or biotic-point), and there's a paragon interrupt to stop Liara killing him, would you take it?

Now, obviously the SB can't just get away with everything he's done, so let's say that if you stop Liara killing him, you get several options.

1. Turn him over to the authorities (Alliance/Council), assuming you've fond irrefutable proof during the mission of his criminal activities.

2. Turn him over to Cerberus so TIM can interrogate him (almost definately a renegade option).

3. Shoot him yourself so as to leave Liara with a clear consience.

4. Let him go because you think he may be a useful ally.

So, would you stop Liara killing him, and if you did, which alternative would you choose?

Assuming that the Shadow Broker is not some type of galactic AI, and hence not 'killable', I'd probably stop Liara from killing him and do it myself. Liara has gone through enough and I'd personally take great satisfaction from putting a bullet into him.

Seeing that I play a soldier most of the time... I've killed far more than she has. Out of vengence as well if you are Sole Survivor.
After what he has done to her... I'd make it three very long and painful days before I killed him for her. Her hands are clean... she is free of her anger and guilt... and free to start loving me again.

Whether the SB lives or dies would depend on the whole story, there are still too many missing pieces. If the SB dies however it would also depend on what is driving Liara, it may cause her more psychological damage too kill him for her.

I don't know what I'd do...
The SB has to die, imo - I made my mind up about that but
whether I'd stop Liara from doing it or not...I don't know.
I would prefer to do it for her, but if she were to say that she needs to do it, I wouldn't stop her.
The reason for that is that if I do it for her against her will, she may never be able to put this behind her which could cause psychological damage (I agree with Blansten there).

If she needed to kill the SB to obtain 'redemption' then I would probably let her do it. My gut reaction is to kill him myself, but if this would harm Liara more then I'd let her go through with it.

Most people who are good people inside, even though they say they need to do it, they can not kill in cold blood. I believe this is Liara all the way. I know this from real personal experience mind you. So... I don't believe I would let her kill him, but perhaps allow her to watch as he is dealt with. There is a difference in killing during combat and flat out killing in cold blood. I don't think Liara is capable of that... and unfortunately... you can never go back. To allow her to do it might be the final tipping point to never being able to redeem and save her. Just my two cents.

And morrie... yeah that is an excellent one! I've been keeping tabs on it as well.

I'd probably shoot him myself the first time around, but I'd try out handing him to the authorities at some point as well. Just to see the different outcomes.

I'd stop Liara from killing him, and then tell her that destroying the Shadow Broker isn't going to ease all of the emotional pain and guilt she's suffered in the two years Shepard has been gone. I'd make Shepard tell her that he/she loves her, and try to comfort and console Liara before she does something she'll regret, and tell her that killing the Shadow Broker isn't going to make everything feel better and make her happy again. Hopefully, if we can talk her down then she'll open up to Shepard and realise that killing him will not make everything better.

The Shadow Broker still needs to answer for his crimes, though. So I'll have him arrested, and put on trial in front of the Citadel Council. I think that's for the best, as that way the threat of the SB is removed, and also Liara can feel at peace and be happy again, and can go with Shepard, the person she loves.

Yeah right...I already know how that'd turn out.

Ah yes, "the Shadow Broker".....we have dismissed his existence.
It seems to me you're deliberately lying to the council....let this man/woman/whateverelsetheshadowbrokercanbe go and arrest Shepard ....... <_<
