Anyone care to speculate what a possible heart-to-heart with Liara in the DLC will be like? I hope that Liara drops her facade entirely and admits her guilt and the emotional turmoil that she's suffered the past two years, and then Shepard has the ability to calm and comfort her, tell her that everything will be alright and that he/she is grateful for what Liara did. All in all, I just want more intimate and emotional dialogue with her.

Wow... well I'll give you my two opinions.

First one is that Bioware screws it up as they did the LIs from KOTOR and they leave it hanging with no real closure and no reasons as to why Liara is acting the way she is. Liara and Shepard don't get back together (which would really s**k!) and she is still a member of the squad in ME3 but does not acknowledge that they ever shared anything.

Second one is that Bioware releases a DLC, or better yet and Expansion Pack, that delves into why Liara is acting as she is, Shepard returns from whipping the Collectors, walks right up to her and demands to know what is happening. She finally breaks down and tells him everything, they admit their feelings for each other, Shepard then brings her onto the Normandy and together with the rest of his crew they put a hurting on one Shadow Broker. At the end, we see Liara and Shepard happily together back on the Normandy with a lead up into ME3.

I am still very upset with how the whole Liara situation was handled, we should not have to buy comics that aren't that good to begin with to fill in gaps to their story. I've ordered the comics but from what I'm hearing she doesn't really act as if Shepard is her lover in the comics. They had several months leading up to the Geth attack with Saren, and then at least a month together where they were discovering each other even more, at least that is what new lovers do. I still do not believe she would go through all she did to get his body back and then forget about him in two years knowing that Cerberus is going to bring him back. That doesn't wash. She had to have known or had some idea about what they were planning or she wouold have told cerberus to screw.

"I couldn't let you go"

This is not the statement you would hear from someone who was not in love with you.

I can't say it enough. Bioware really screwed the pooch in their handling of Liara, as well as all the ME1 LIs. Liara more so since at least you got an email from Ash or Kaiden from what I understand. If they do not fix this with a DLC or Expansion then I very well may not buy ME3. I know... sounds stupid... but they started this great story and they are beginning to go the way of KOTOR in dealing with it IMHO.

Hey there guys. Haven't posted in this thread before, but I definately want to voice my support for Liara in general. If anyone's interested, I've written a short piece of fanfiction about the encounter on Illium, and I how I thought it should have played out:
http://www.fanfictio...0677/1/Mistakes
Just my 2 cents (or pence, since I live in England). Let me know if you like it.

Very nicely done Cheese, very emotionally engaging.  Bravo.

While there are still one or two little things missing from what my "perfect" reunion would have been with Liara this is like 100x's better than what we got in the game.

very good CheesesackIII, and as to put my bit into DLC discussion [8 pages overnight WOW] and "new and old players" thread that struggles here i say there should be 2 scenarios in DLC/expansion pack for those who romanced Liara and those who doesn't, as for those who romanced there should be wide-open story etc., like we all agree i think for non lovers just 2 short dialogues options
1 "i don't feel anything to you [renegade]"
and 2... "i was and am such a stupid stupid nerd, that haven't spotted your beauty and perfection before" [paragon]
i think this would fit into Bioware current "new and old" marketing strategy that makes me  btw, but in way i mentioned the "old fans" would be on the opposite to new ->new got s****** like we "old " got in ME2 for ME1 LI plot...
and i think this could conclude the current matter, nad for the end meaby some pic?
[FATAL ERROR! CANNOT DECIDE FOR PICTURE TO POST, ALL SO GREAT]...

think a general SB DLC is possible with those who had Liara as LI getting additional scenes at the end ( as opposed to those who didn't and might get like a "thank you" dialogue ). doubt BW will do a split that could potentially divide the fan base

They have already divided the fan base as I see it, the old and the new more important fans. With that said I could live with that kind of DLC if it was well done.

you and me both.

I just can't understand why they didn't do a better job with Liara. I mean the conversations are almost the same - if you romanced her you get a smile or two more - but other than that...
I think I said it before but all they had to do was add some more (special) dialog-options if you romanced her and it'd been fine, imo.

So...yeah I want >I/we deserve< well written Liara DLC :pinched:

Ah yes, "previous romances".  I thought we had dismissed that claim.

sad and funny (how is that possible?)

Truth if often tinged with differing emotions.  In this case though I get very little of the funny. :P

I've always thought as well that Liara's dialogue tree, after having completed her missions and recruited Thane and Samara, looks as though the original intention was to have additional subjects to talk to her about.

As it stands, all we can do is ask her about her own work. Now, normally in ME when there is only one subject you can discuss with an NPC you got straight into that subject, it doesn't give you the ability to manually select it. Like in ME1, if Kaidan dies then when you talk to Dr Chakwas you automatically ask her about her history with the Alliance, as there are no other options anymore. This leads me to believe that after you've completed Liara's DLC there will be other dialogue options and you will be able to talk to her more intimately and perhaps discuss your relationship, in addition to asking Liara how her work is going.

The fact that the only existing dialogue tree at the moment is in the top-left of the dialogue wheel only strengthens that IMO, as it looks out of place and as if there should be further options in the dialogue wheel.

Here's hoping!

I've decided that I would prefer a Liara expansion (ala Awakenings) to Liara dlc. I know, seems obvious, right? But dlc can only take the story so far. It would likely be on the level of Zaeed's mission. Not terrible, and I'd feel really good if we got that much. But a full expansion about hunting the SB...that'd be awesome.

Considering how relatively quickly Awakening is coming out for Dragon Age (four months), then perhaps we will see an announcement about a major storyline expansion for ME sooner rather than later. Perhaps late April or May, of if they are waiting until E3, obviously then in late June.

have a look and please at least try to rise atmosphere into this thread to happier level, as this [spelling on purpose] starts to turn from thread to threat [of self-doom]

I think its because, in general, Liara fans feel a sense of loss.  Its almost as if we're mourning.  Its hard to be really, really enthusiastic when discussing Liara now because she is mostly MIA in ME2.

I wonder if this is how Liara felt when she was desperately trying to get Shep's body back from the SB?  Maybe we need a comic about a Liara fan infiltrating Bioware in order to get Liara back!

This. DLC stuff is fun for cheap thrills but they're never done well enough for some serious plot elements. An expansion would be the best approach. Liara is a very important character and her plight with the Shadow Broker and reviving Shep would have enough backbone to make it viable.

Aye..no doom and gloom. It will be fine. BW used ME2 to boost Tali's role in Shep's life, be it in the romance department or otherwise (hell, Kelly even tells you that she is interested if you are male Shep), ME3 will be all about ME1 love interest if you didn't dump them. I'm sure of it. :)

Did you know that when you stand beside Joker for a moment, he starts talking with some one-liners? Quite a lot of different ones actually? I never encountered that until I read about it here somewhere. To think: They put that it, but left out any sentences acknowledging such an important thing as the relationships from part 1. WHAT were they thinking? :pinched:

You can tell Kelly wants you after like the first or second conversation. She does this weird smile and her eyes narrow.  Some folks are easier than others...

Liara, on the other hand, pretends you never even had a romance.  Go figure!!!

I volunteer!

I agree with you about the sense of mourning.  I don't feel as fun and light-hearted as I used to when I come on to these forums.  Sadly, a lot of us feel the same way and our threads aren't full of the fun and merriment that the Tali or Miranda threads have.  The Kaidan fans seem to keep things positive, however.  I don't know how they do it.

the positive attitude itself helps to stay optimistic, as well some of social.bioware.com/983711/albums/660692/19920 this
is my explanation sufficient to you?

Right.  If Liara's dialog was cut due to time or resource constraints, they could have easily cut that part out (or cut down on the number of planets you can scan, or cut down on the number of model ships you could buy, etc.)

But I think this proves that it wasn't cut down for those reasons.

While I see why people get so upset over this whole mess, there's no point of going into complete despair. If some people have no faith at all in what's going to happen, why do they stick around? Personally if I was that upset over something and had no hope at all, well I wouldn't bother with it anymore. If people are still around, then they have to see something left worth fighting for, and being mopey 100% of the time does no good at all. Maybe we can spend more time speculating on how things will turn out in the longrun instead of only seeing what's wrong now.

Ummm, she's being spied on so she wouldn't send an email. Part of her aloofness was the fact that she had enemies everywhere. her distance was probably in order to protect Shepard.
