A certain website calls the Mass Effect: Redemption series "Reaction Faces: The Comic". I agree with that notion.

Oooh, which website would that be? And are they quite critical of the comic, then?

We have mixed reactions (get it?) to the comic.  At the least, we think it's a gold-mine for funny images.

I wonder if they are letting the cat out of the bag a bit with the comment on that comic preview page

"Liara T'Soni's search for Commander Shepard's abductors comes to an end, but what other shocking discoveries will she make when she finds them? The comics debut of modern sci-fi's greatest epic holds surprises right up to the very end!
With far-reaching repercussions for the Mass Effect saga, this tale of friendship and loyalty in the darkest corners of the galaxy closes with an issue sure to thrill fans new and old!"

I still think if this is supposed to be ending with Liara barely escaping then the guards sure need to shape up

There is still that dopey salarian enforcer guy somewhere around, and more importantly a Harbinger controlled Collecter.  I think that might be what the whole big desperate escape centers on when Liara tries to make it out lugging Shepard's carcass with those guys after her.

Tazzik, if he walks like all the other Salarains do on the Citidal I wouldn't be scared in a least Image IPB

If Tazzik gets taken down in the comic, maybe the Shadow Broker will just go totally hardcore and get a volus enforcer to do his personal buttkicking.  Tazzik's whole tagline was that, "The Shadow Broker only needs one enforcer."  With a volus it'd be amped up to, "The Shadow Broker only needs one-half an enforcer."

Hahaha, nah Justin. :P

I can actually see what people dislike about the comics. I know they're not perfect. And some of the character images are a little odd to say the least. Particularly Aria's expression when she's looking down at Liara. Just looks creepy!

Gotta admit though that had Liara done anything like that, it would have been massively OOC for her. Her devotion, dedication, trust and faithfulness to Shepard dictates that she spends most of her time thinking about her, waiting for the day Shepard returns, fearing that Shepard will hate her, beating herself up over handing Shepard's corpse over to Cerberus. She's incredibly devoted and in love with Shepard, whether it's reciprocated or not.

It's also the reason why I think Liara won't take another partner after Shepard dies. She's the first and only person that has ever really meant something to Liara in her lifetime.

It would be OOC for her, but, like I said, it's debatable, whether or not she still has actual, tangible obligations to Shepard during the time after his death and before the time Cerberus was sure that Project Lazarus would be successful.

I have to regularly defend Liara's character from people who simply don't care to understand her well enough.   I understand everything she's going through.

Likewise with me. I probably shouldn't it let it bother me so much when I see people say "OMG LIARA HAS BECOME A CRAZY **** NOW LOL", but I just have to stick up for my favourite character and enlighten people on what she's been through, how she's suffering and her emotional torment and guilt. Her total loyalty and love to Shepard is something alot of people miss, too. I blame the bugged dialogue tree, with the oh-so easy to miss conversation in which Liara opens up to you and puts her heart on the line.

Yeah, that's why I haven't posted at all in any other thread for a few weeks. I don't have any patience for people that think Liara is obsessed, evil, childlike, inept, or whatever their sputtering moronic proto-brains have come up with. I read some others, but I refrain from posting because that just seems to encourage other people to post and that keeps the topic from falling into obscurity.

You should see Liara's face at the end of issue 2, when Tazzik's ship gets away with Shepard on board. Liara has a look of absolute horror on her face, and is left sorrowfully calling out "No! Shepard!" :crying:

This is the picture I  post when people show a lack of understanding of Liara's character (if the picture is too large for this thread, I'll just post a link to it):

No, I don't mind.  I spread it around as much as I can to help staunch the ignorance people have about Liara's character.   You can do the same.

Bravo, sir! I think I may have to pinch that image to use whenever I see someone ignorantly and thoughtlessly bashing Liara.

That's very quick and concise, and I think alot more effective than writing paragraphs that these morons probably won't read.

That's all well and good, but there is still a problem:

Everything Liara has done for the past 2 years is directly related to her love for Shepard, but she is still willing to let him/her walk out of her office to die again without a word. That simply doesn't make any sense (unless her 'debts' involve staying away from Shepard and not fraternizing). It doesn't follow that someone who went to those lengths would just let Shepard leave.

I also still think it makes sense for Liara to obsess over Cerberus's progress with the body as much or more as she would the Shadow Broker. I can see Cerberus not letting her help with the resurrection, and using her to take down the SB (as has been speculated), but Shepard has got to be at the forefront of her mind pretty often.

Driven, I think that's more to do with sh!tty writing on BW's part and them being forced to have Liara still guilty and emotionally tormented for the benefit of the comic and the upcoming DLC, where I believe that is when we'll get the true deep, emotional dialogue and scenes with Liara.

Liara obviously still cares very deep for Shepard, that much is obvious, but her not saying anything about the suicide mission is more to do with the poor quality of the writing in the scene, and less to do with any apparent apathy on Liara's behalf. Liara still cares extremely deeply for Shepard.

I really don't think about it too much.  I blame the awkwardness of the reunion on Bioware's writers.  Their writers forced their own hands in tying ME2 in to a comic series, and in having originally planned the beginning of the game differently.  Finally, their writers were willing to do whatever was necessary to the characters of Ashley, Kaiden and Liara to keep them out of ME2, even if it meant a total rewrite or making their characters out to be complete jerks.

Yeah. I don't know if the hired drawing artist knows much about the characters. There are a lot of scenes in the comic that are like that.

When you read that compressed on one page, it's quite amazing indeed. What did all the other characters do for Shepard? Mostly I see them asking for Shepard's help. But of course we should not bash other characters, so the more important question is not why the developers gave them so much more attention, but why they neglected Liara so much.

I can see this in part since Liara would understand just how important Shepard's mission is, but for her to be controlled by Cerberus? Image IPB

Only way I see Liara being used by TIM is if Lied big time to her (as he did to Shepard) , I wouldn't be surprized if one of her "debts" was to squash TIM after Shepard deals with the Collectors/Reaper/Harbinger (take your pick)
