I wonder if they are letting the cat out of the bag a bit with the comment on that comic preview page
"Liara T'Soni's search for Commander Shepard's abductors comes to an end, but what other shocking discoveries will she make when she finds them? The comics debut of modern sci-fi's greatest epic holds surprises right up to the very end!
With far-reaching repercussions for the Mass Effect saga, this tale of friendship and loyalty in the darkest corners of the galaxy closes with an issue sure to thrill fans new and old!"
*sigh* makes yer heart pitter patter some eh?

Sure does
This, plus york's picture, is what it's all about. (I'm not
just talking about our favorite emoticon for our LiLi

... though that is
also what it's all about. <long beat>

.)
But
this is what I love about the way that Liara has been portrayed (no sarcasm, just separating what I love from what I don't for a second). They've decided to make canon (as far as the word can be applied to the franchise) the fact that ... LiLi loves Shepard, stronger than a sister, and goes out of her way to help her even after she's gone. This, when they don't even have a canon
gender, though my friend tells me that at least one novel and somewhere in Redemption they call Shepard 'him', but if so it's got to be bad editing ... (*looks around to see if that Fenix guy from last night is quietly lurking to start the debate about how Sheploo is 'canon' as opposed to 'default'*)
That's what makes me think that either a) the reunion scene was an accidental oversight -- that kiss being an attempt to tell with gestures what they couldn't tell with words, maybe, because Ali was off recording for FF XIII? though if so, it sadly reeks of fail; or

that Casey and Mac realized after the fact how badly it was going to play, and made sure to make our LiLi look so much more devoted in the comic book, as well as potentially in DLC or the expansion.
I think there is one problem with their portrayal, come to think of it -- they
are trying to force a star-crossed-lovers angle on us that don't particularly want it, so they had to do a much better job than they did to flesh out the situation, and convince us that it made any sense. I think we're
still waiting on that, and we can't possibly be
totally satisfied by the finale of Redemption, there's not enough time and space.
As an aside, by the way ... I think I figured out pretty clearly why Liara can be the most powerful character in the game... she's the only character I've seen who can max out every skill except one, and biotic powers are pretty fearsome at the higher levels. (I too have had situations where she's cleared the room,
called 'Clear!', and made the squad coffee before anyone else unholstered their assault rifles.)
