Can't wait to see what you've got coming, Shadow. Judging by the pics you asked for earlier, this new Liara pic is going to be really moving and emotive. You're a great artist, and I love your Liara work!

Yeah, I have no idea how lighting works in this game at all. Or shadows, there are shadows everywhere and they like freaking cling to everything. I know in one of those "making of ME2" movies on the bonus DVD in the collector's edition they said that each different area has its own color palette and it certainly seems like Illium is weird for shifting blues. Which really makes no sense with it being an asari world.bjdbwea wrote...
Definitely. When I said cutscenes, I meant the dialogue too. The lighting is really strange in some places. Even outside her office, and in other places too. The lens flares don't look good either, and the shadows often don't match with the light sources.
BioWare were never cutting-edge on graphics though, they shone with story telling. Until ME 2, I guess.
I just did an eye test with my blue eyed Shepard on the Normandy and then running around Illium. Going to be all lazy and not cut and arrange the screenshots though. I'll just say that Illium was definitely darker for the eyes in general, and a lot of places shifted them towards brown.

A conscious decision to make Liara's appearance appear altered whilst on Illium, so that during Liara's DLC when she boards the Normandy we realise that it's the same Liara we've always known, and it'll make it extra poignant in a potential tender cutscene when LI Shepards comfort her?
I don't know, but it is annoying how Illium's lighting alters Liara's appearance.

Did you notice that in some of the cutscenes, the shadows actually change when the camera angle does? Like, a straight shot of Shep's face, and only the left side is shadowed, but then when it cuts to a shot from the left to show whoever he's talking to as well and suddenly its like the light source is on the left and the right side of his face is shaded lol I know that sounds nit-picky, but it's noticeable if you watch for it.

That View you captured in the Citadel I beleive is only there if you have Ashley and Kaidan, there is also another one in Udina's office with the right mix of characters, the one on Eden Prime is always there, just have to approach that railing.

I think it's consciously done too, but I'm not sure what the aim is. It's probably to do with the mood of the place, though.

Haha thanks.I love that show (not as much as <3Liara<3 though). I'm almost surprised you recognized it, people usually don't. It's more specifically from the Christmas episode where Butthead dreams that Beavis is his boss and won't let him go home lol.
I agree with the Liara Loven<3B) that was a funny A** show
[Edit] Hey check out the Liara as Tali's face HERE it was Epic funny!!

Those color changes on Illium affect everything, like that Samara outfit my TestShep was wearing in those screenshots. I didn't alter the texture of that outfit, so it still had Samara's naturally colored bust. The fact that the skin tone on TestShep's head matched it so closely was a result of trial and error messing with RGB color settings in the saved game editor since I was just figuring out stuff as I went for novelty one day.LesEnfantsTerribles wrote...

They spawn blue lights during the cutscenes and dialogue with Liara, you can really notice the one right behind her head easily. So really, if anything they're trying to make her bluer in those. It's just everything is all weird with at least asari blue on Illium.

Yeah, like bjdbwea said they seem to be spawning cutscene/dialogue specific lighting and shadows that override (or probably conflict with) the normal default environmental ones. Plus, shadows are just seriously just crazy in that game.mrbeavis19 wrote...

Yeah, but you'd think a company as experienced as BW would have someone checking for stuff like that before it reaches us? But whatever, it's not that much of an issue.

Rough quote from, I think, either PCGamer of Game Informer -- "The engine is showing its age in a lot of places; sometimes we were wondering why the characters were crying oil slicks." It could be the engine needs work, though this is another reason why I wish we in this thread... or a related one of course ... were not only champing at the bit for the comic to end, but also for the game to come out for the first time. I think this is a game that could've used a little more time to polish it up.
