As I've said before, I'd be really surprised if BW didn't release the Liara DLC soon after the conclusion of Redemption as a means of capitalising on the excitement and hype, and while it's still fresh in everyone's minds. It gives me hope that, if they do reveal info about DLC at the GDC, it will be Liara related as Redemption will be finished in only a few weeks after that.

Plus, if the Liara DLC is something extremely deep and character driven, with a lot of moving moments and soul searching, as I am hoping, then that is something that BW will definitely want to showcase as an example of how they can expand and refine DLC.

Exactly, money is money to BioWare.
As long as there are people buying the comic and Liara has supporters, it can only result in Liara DLC.

I agree, I seriously hope BioWare creates a deep and emotional story between Liara and Shepard in the DLC. I would be disappointed if all that happens is that Shepard shoots people every five seconds.

That's why I hope they cater more to us story driven people and less to the shooter crowd.

I think it is safe to assume George hated KOTOR, because it was better than anything he wrote after the OG Star Wars. He does like the money so he'll continue to milk it...although Revan and Bastilla will only be side notes in SW history.

I'm sure ME2 will have something Bring Down The Sky size or larger. We'll have to wait and see if it deals with the Shadow broker or not. To me it would make sense as it could bridge the 2 games without messing with the ME3 plot. Getting the Liara/ Kaidan/Ash stuff done before ME3 would be grand--plus Liara/SB content would be an action win and a plot win. It would be a natural to play after the Collector mission as well. As Liara can't die it is something everyone could play as well--even if she is just a squad mate and not an LI..

Agree and it would make for good DLC/expansion material in my opinion. That it would be set after the main story is done would make sense to me. You hook up with your LI and old teammate, have the chance to explain everything and get the romance back on it's feet.

I would totally settle for that. It would be a great way to tie up the loose ends in ME2 to prepare for ME3. As of now, ME2 isn't complete in my opinion.

ME2 is like unfinished puzzle unfortunately but there is time to fix it if they want to.

I really do hope they have some Liara-related DLC soon. Though I guess they have to release the new companion first... (who sadly isn't Liara because she's supposed to be human or something, boo)

Good keeping this thread alive to remind the devs that we really want a big part for Liara in ME3 :-D

Ummm, she's being spied on so she wouldn't send an email. Part of her aloofness was the fact that she had enemies everywhere. her distance was probably in order to protect Shepard.

This.^

I really believe that the whole Liara/Shep LI encounter on Illium was masterfully staged by BW.  It seems tacked on and shallow on the surface, but if you listen to the conversation she basically says that Illium doesn't work that way.  She is an information broker....lot's of enemies, plus the SB probably has his agents constantly watching her.

Ok, she is being listened to.  So she can openly discuss flaying people alive that owe her money, describe in detail how she plans to track down the observer, who her suspects are, who she is sending to dig up the information, and where she is sending them, as well as tell us how she is closing in the the SB and wants to kill him, yet she can't say a single thing about her relationship with Shep, something that if the SB really is listening and assuming the SB is not completely incompotent at his job he already knows.

Sorry, the "i'm being recorded" excuse doesn't hold much water.

Right outside Liara's office Gianni passes you a note conveying enough information to set up a sting operation. I'm pretty sure that Dr. Liara T'Soni is literate as well. Plus her office is "safe" enough to call her secretary into and have a fight to the death, but not enough to bring up a topic that should be common knowledge for anyone who knows anything about Liara or Shepard?
I'm totally positive about future content, I have to be or else I'd just give up caring at all. I'm not going to make excuses for the butchered and frustratingly just plain stupid presentation of the LI's from ME1 though.

I suppose that one thing I was glad for about Liara in ME2 was that she wasn't dressed like a stripper when you meet her in her office. Her armor on the cover of the comics is pretty nice as well, I don't really care for it inside the comics but that's because it looks like they're colored in CGA graphics or something. Hopefully they go with that in the future or have the armor for squadmates back. I'd be annoyed if she went the exposed bosom and stiletto heels route of Miranda and Samara. Well at least outside of the captain's cabin : )

Yes I agree, was nice to see she wasn't half naked or anything. I really hope they bring back armor for the teammates. It looks ridiculous as it is now, especially those pathetic face masks some have when they are in hazardous environments.  I vote for Predator L armor as Liaras default armor, she looks good in green

Definitely.
Liara is already so beautiful that she doesn't need to show skin to prove it.
She can have the same effect just by wearing a normal dress.

But nonetheless it feels like there IS some kind of reason for her silence.
Honestly I wonder more if it's TIM. After all, he tried to tell you that she was working for the shadow broker, when it's perfectly obvious that she isn't, and, from the comics that he KNOWS she isn't. He knows exactly what she's doing, and yet he lies about it. The must be a reason. Maybe, for example, part of the arrangement was that she keep out of the way of Shepard's mission. That she not rekindle the romance. TIM did, for some reason, make a big deal about keeping past relationships out of the mission.

I agree that "being recorded" isn't the whole story. But I'm hopeful that there is a reason beyond just 'bioware messed up her character." Then again, maybe she is hinting that TIM is observing her, not the shadow broker. And that TIM would take steps were she to rejoin him, or rekindle the romance.

I'm hoping for a conversation in ME3 with TIM about how he forced her to keep out of the way. Yell at him a bit.

This is true, he did make a big deal out of it with Ashley and Kaidan.  I always wondered why he didn't say anything about Liara?   TIM could have threatened Liara, saying that Shepard's mission will fail and Shepard will die again if she gets in the way of it.

Sorry to change the subject, but I did this sketch and gave it some tone during my lunch hour today.  It's my interpretation of Liara. :)  More from ME1 I guess.  Let me know what you think

I disagree with this to some extent. I think the interaction needed a lot more development.
Her reaction and wariness makes sense at first. She's afraid of being watched and is terrified Shepard will hate her - that makes sense. However, she does tell Shepard "I couldn't let you go" which isn't exactly something you would say if you were that worried someone would use your relationship against you. Besides, the Shadow Broker must know of her feelings for Shepard - he knows she stole the body after all!
Also, Shepard is pretty much the most dangerous person in the galaxy - you would think she would actually WANT to make her enemies aware Shepard cares about her.
The biggest problem isn't Liara's reaction as much as it is Shepard's reaction. She can be vary of saying too much, but why would Shepard be? The options the player is given aren't realistic for someone that's in love with Liara. It's too obvious the game is holding back conversation options; it's really heavy-handed.
The person you love just told you they went through hell to bring you back to life and feels horribly guilty about it. The most natural response is not to talk about your mission. What the game gives you is fine if she's not the love interest, but feels totally artificial if she is.
