Shepard and Liara on their hunt for the Shadow Broker, which brings them to the Citadel. They are on a stakeout watching the wards and waiting, when they see the ramen stand. They grab a bite to eat, and Liara spots the Karaoke Machine stashed behind the counter. She flashes Shepard a playful grin and sets it up.
What song does she sing to Shepard and why?

Sovereign would of been sleeping for most of the time. Only waking up once in awhile to get a report from the Keepers. Saren most likely found Sovereign when it was asleep. Or else I think he would of been killed right away. However, when Sovereign woke up, the Keepers did not send a report, and here was Saren poking around, thus Sovereign indoctrinated him, to be an agent and figure out what was going on.
Also, that's why it has to be some kind of leader, that the Reapers left with some small bit of intelligence. We even see the Collector General kind of wake up, look around scared, and then get blown up. Its last moments of freedom from direct Reaper control. The Reapers had to leave atleast one of the Keepers smarter then the rest, to run things on a basic level, so the Vanguard could take naps.
I dont know if sleeping in a reapers case means completely shut down, given that even the wreckage could still indoctrinate people and as I remember it the Keepers never send reports to the Vanguard, making estimates was his job alone, the Keepers were just there to open the Citadel when the time was right, but they evolved and didnt react which pretty much sparked the ME1 storyline.
As for Saren didnt he get it from some Batarians or something its some time ago that I read the first novel.
As for the Collector General,I agree he seems to have some intelligence, but to what degree or what he is capable of alone is completely unknown, its actually one of the shortcomings of ME2 the enemy doesnt really have a face,in ME1 you had Saren and even Sovereign had quite some stuff to talk about, whereas Harbinger is reduced to oneliners and the Collector General never appears aside from cutscenes on a sidenote that was also what bothered me with the blight in DA:O,you have the Archdemon but all it does is bark at you in two dreams

From that cut stuff he was killable at one point and the masculine pronoun was used after the death, so that would limit it to a killable race with males. So yeah, personally I do think Bioware is that lame to do it with him being human. Killing Shepard and working with Cerberus is no big deal, why should making the Shadow Broker into TIM Jr. be any different.
It'd be nice if they woke up and paid a bit more attention to the game world, but that stuff did get all the way to voice over.

Considering the writing and plot of ME2 the Shadow Broker is probably human. Because that would make no actual sense and be entirely inconsistent with everything established in the game universe. But be entirely consistent with the second game as long as they gave him cool glowy eyes or a trenchcoat.

I think the SB should be an asari (not necessarily Liara's other parent like some have speculated but just an asari). You're probably right that it will be a human and a cheap version of TIM...boring.
The SB was referred to with the masculine pronoun in the cut Liara dialog but they could have changed their mind about it since then.

I still think the Shadow Broker is a Keeper Queen type of character. Think Collector General. When the Reapers lost control of the Keepers, it kind of "woke up" and maybe its "job" was keeping the Keepers working and watching the galaxy, letting the Reapers know when it was ready for harvest. It didn't "know" how to do anything else then what it was programed for, so that's what it does now just not under control of the Reapers anymore.
Wasnt that pretty much Sovereigns job, wachting the galaxy and then send the signal,as for the Keepers they dont really have a mind of their own, also I dont know if we really should try to force the reapers in the whole SB thing, even without them he is a good enough villain

Ok, here's where everyone forgets or was not aware of, Sovereign had tried to "awaken" the keepers LONG ago, it did not turn to outside help until that point which is mentioned in the game, they don't give a specific amount of time laps between then and now but Sovereign was already working on getting "Allies" before ME1 and even before Saren, Saren just took over after blowing up Sidon science station.
Also you have the Rachni war which was during the first 100 years of the Citadel's being around, Rachni are "hinted" to being controled by someone else, most likely Sovereign.

Although maybe it should be a duet. Shepard needs to own up to that dumb look on her face in the reunion... Through song!

I don't want the Shadow Broker to be human myself, that would just be freaking stupid. But having played ME2 I find it hard not to see Bioware doing that and thinking nothing of it. I hope that the final version that is released shows a bit more consideration for the game world than a lot of stuff already in the game does.jlb524 wrote...

I don't think I want the SB to be Liara's other parent. She's got enough emotional pain on her plate, I don't want to see her suffer any more.

The SB turning out to be some suave, sophisticated well-dressed human would probably be the biggest and most predictable anti-climax ever. I like the idea of the SB being an asari, it would make sense with their melding abilities to store and transfer information.

you are hilariously right about the well-dressed human being the most predictable anti-climax ever...and it's a scary possibility that Liara father could be the SB= Like Darth Vader.....lol

No matter how bad any writers are, they would be able to see that was a bad idea.
I'm still thinking it is an A.I. or Thorian type creature, we need to ask ourselves, what being in existance could know everything in an entire galaxy?
Well, a computer would be good at that, the Asari may be extremely well versed in most things, but I think the amount of information the SB deals in would overwelm any organic being. No matter how wise they are.
