I respect your viewpoints, and I agree that it was insulting for us not to get anything special, other than a halfhearted kiss. However, I'm of the mindset, even if only few share it with me, that Liara is the canon love interest. I know, it's wishful thinking on my part, but that's just how it has to be for me, for me to get over all the crap we had to deal with in ME2, as it comes to Liara. Besides, I'm never going to romance anyone else, so for me, it all makes sense to me. And I look at the game from the viewpoint, that Liara is the only one worth loving and being in a romance with.

If BioWare can somehow undo the mess they made of LI Liara in ME2 then YES PLEASE GIVE ME BACK MY LIARA!!! But undoing that mess would take some seriously good writing... like impossibly good...

I want Liara to be extra-special to those that did romance her and Bioware just failed at that.  All my Shepards are female, they all romance Liara, and they all make the same decisions.  Replaying the game for me is exactly that.  Those things are what Mass Effect is to me, everything else is "what other people do".  But the reality of the medium means not everything is going to be tailored to my experience, which sucks but the rest of the world seems to work that way as well.  I just think they could have definitely done a better job on the bits in ME2 that I cared about.

Once Shepard can comfort Liara and help ease her of her emotional pain and sorrow, then Liara will be happy again and I'm sure that Shepard and Liara's romance will be rekindled again. Liara's suffering alot, and she needs help in dealing with her pain. She still obviously cares deeply for Shepard, it's just that there's alot going on in that blue head of hers. Sadly, alot of it is due to how much she loves Shepard, and the resulting pain and sadness she's had to endure.

The only way I will be happy, given the events in ME2, is if Shep and Liara have a big **** off argument in which he tells her she's changed into a cold **** and she tells him that... okay I had better stop there before I embarrass myself. It had better be good though.

I miss my Liara.

I wonder what Liara would think of us if she knew that we think she was unbelievably cute being trapped in that bubble for a couple of days? It was probably one of the worst times she went through before joining up with Shepard and we think it is cute, lol.

hehe,  For my Shepard, it was love at first sight there. She was so cute stuck in that bubble. Couldn't help but smile and have a crush on her, while giggling about how it all looked. I like to think, Liara and my Shepard laugh about it now. I could see Liara making a naughty joke about it to Shepard, after they bonded, and learned everything about each other, Liara knows what went thru Shepard's mind when they first met. Liara would say something like. "So Shepard...you like seeing me bound and helpless do you..." she says this while tossing Shepard a pair of handcuffs with a wink.

I think we agree then. I have played thru the game many times, and make new choices to see what happens, but the one thing that never changes for me, is Liara. She's the one choice I always make. So yea, I want her to be speical, and I'd love nothing more than for them to put all the romantic focus on her, ignoring all others. Will that happen, no, so I just deal with it. But for me, she is the romance, no one else matters. The only way I ever see the content for the others, is on youtube. As you said, it's all "what other people do" for me.

One thing that also irks me quite considerably is the complete absence of any romance dialogue with Liara in the opening Normandy destruction scene. Now, I can understand leaving it romance neutral with Ashley and Kaidan as players who didn't romance either of them could still have them present in that scene. But for Liara to be there, she absolutely HAS to be your LI, no questions. Why then did BW not give us the ability to say something to Liara other than jerkass Renegade or bland Neutral? Liara obviously loves Shepard during that sequence, going by her refusal to leave Shepard and evacuate, and her final pleading "Shepard..." but Shep's lines are just romance neutral.

So frustrating!

I agree with this, and it upset me too. I'd expect Shepard to be able tell Liara something along the lines of. "I'm not going to lose you too, Liara, just get out of here. I love you." A quick hug and off she goes, telling Shepard. "I love you too, just hurry up and get back to me."

It really starts to feel, that BioWare just doesn't care about us, or Liara...and that is what makes me worry so much, that we won't get what we want. I hope to be wrong...but I will not be surprised, if I'm right.

I miss my Liara. 

Yeah, she only appears distant at first because she's afraid Shep will hate her. She's says as much when she opens her heart when you ask her about her anger.

What's especially annoying is that after Liara does open her heart, and almost bursts into tears, Shepard doesn't say anything really comforting. She just speaks about the mission. So annoying!

Yeah, Shepards lines (or lack thereof) were really annoying. At least I got him to say "Damn it Liara, I came to talk to you! Not help with your petty vendettas!" which felt good. Good in the way that a painkiller feels good to a headache.
