What happens if at the end of the game they force you to make a choice between Shepard dying and saving Liara's life, or your Shepard surviving and Liara dying?

For me, I'd save Liara's life every single time. I think my Shep would make the ultimate sacrifice for Liara's life.

I would also without hesitation, but that would not make me trust BW to make any other decent games, they'd loose a customer, unless they plan to do the impossible yet again and rebuild Shepard.

I want a happy ending period, I don't want 4 years? of my time wasted on a game to make me sad in the end.

Ok, ME3 is the end of the trilogie, so probably we'll see some utter difficult/far-reaching/emotional decisions. So from narrative point of view a decision between Shepards life and his LIs life is not that far-fetched and (if used right) a very touching one. Although my Shep would definitly save Liara (what other LI could she have? ^^), and she'd die .... I'd be happy with it as one possible ending.

I think it's certain that BW will make different endings according to your choices during the whole trilogie. (From saving/killing the Rachni Queen to Saveing/Destroying the Collector Base). So maybe some Shepards will  have to choose between their lives and his/her LIs live. Others won't have that choice and some others can save both.
Maybe we'll see something "similiar" to the DAO Endings... if found the burial scene after the ultimate sacrifice so wonderful and bittersweet. Or maybe the LI has to sacrifice herself(himself) for Shepard, although I'd cry if that happens...or both could die to save (maybe to save the others)... the possibilities are countless...,ok maybe not that many, but you get what i mean.

But as far as that I trust Bioware to create a worthy ending. No matter if it's happy, sad, bittersweet,...  as long as if there is a possibility to change the outcome for you and your LI (ok, and your whole team ^^) depending on your actions. "I'll save you Liara!"
Damn, why do i get sidetracked so easyly?... [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/angry.png[/smilie]

So where are you folks getting the idea that Liara is going to be part of some DLC in the future? I for one have a rather negative view of DLC and would be somewhat disappointed if I had to shell out a few bucks for a tiny piece of content in order to continue the LI story from ME1. The bigger problem from my perspective is that DLC is optional content that players cannot be assumed to have owned. That means anything that happens in ME2 DLC is unlikely to have any real impact in ME3.

Of course my Shepard would save Liara in such a case. The question is if she'd even get the opportunity. I don't know if I would buy the game in that case. I probably would if that ending is portrayed in a really good way. If it's just thrown in, I'd rather not play the game at all. But the matter of the fact is that it's simply unnecessary to make that the only possible ending, and I wouldn't like it at all. One ending really should be the classic happy end. If that's "boring" to some, then of course there should be other possibilities too.

Happy ending, great. Just so long as it isn't this -> "Some claimed the Commander reunited with the blue-skinned Asari, Liara. The pair were spotted together on the Citadel a year after the Reaper indecent. No matter the truth, the commander never returned to command the Normandy SR2."

Don't worry, ME does not end their games with a dialogue, we will get to see it all.

I would pay (a little) money to see some major game magazine asking BW why they assassinated Liara's character without any explanation.

BTW, is it normal for BW milk their customers using comics and paid DLC? I've seen a lot of people mentioning a comic and guessing at a DLC both of which may or may not make some sense of what I'll generously refer to as the Liara "plot twist". I'm not keen on this idea at all, especially in a story-driven game. DLC and comics should provide extra material for the hardcore fans, not required reading for the rest of us.

There are some files in the PC version of ME2 that have "liara dlc" in the title. They aren't in use yet.

I think that if you import a ME2 save file into ME3 that did not complete Liara's DLC, then it'll go the route of a no-import game and assume the worst possible outcome.

For example, if in Liara's DLC you save Feron's life and opt to destroy a major Shadow Broker base of operations, then the default story in ME3 for those who didn't play Liara's DLC is that Feron is dead, and the SB base is left abandoned. Liara is still free to join the squad in ME3, but it'd assume that "default" choices were made in her DLC.

Think about how Bring Down the Sky is handled in ME2. If you import a ME1 character who didn't play BDtS, then ME2 assumes that you failed the mission, going by extranet news reports you hear in the game. I can imagine a lack of Liara DLC data in a ME3 import would have a similar effect.

Actually the game doesnt assume you failed the mission,it just assumes Shepard did the renegade jerk thing as with everything from ME1 if you play a non import.
I guess in terms of possible Liara DLC in ME3 it will be the same

Against me...that look is the best "weapon" she has. If she'd want something and would give me that look while asking....I couldn't refuse...omg I'm so weak

As to the milking, BW, I don't know.  EA, definitely.  I think they invented it.

Ah right, so it assumes you killed Balak and let the civilians die?

When I read that the news report says that a memorial is taking place for the dead colonists if you don't import, I assumed that meant Shepard failed the mission. Thanks for clearing that up.

Baal, I don't think I could resist either if Liara looked at me like that. I think we're both in love.:wub:

Huh, thanks for posting that bjd. Shame we can't see Liara place her hand on Shepard's back in game. Makes the kiss look a little more passionate to me, as if Liara is embracing Shepard a little more.

Also, Liara has got to be wearing heels underneath that dress. She was never as tall as that before!
