#5 Feron reveals that he is an undercover Spectre agent, who's taking orders from the secret leader of the Spectres: Chuck Norris. He also reveals that the Spectres were originally created to stop the Reapers from returning, a goal that even the Council doesn't know about. Liara gets Shepard's body, looses Feron, delivers Shepard to Cerberus and goes to work for the Spectres in the interests of taking down the Shadow Broker, finding Feron and recieving a free fruit pie of her choice every third Tuesday.

This one!!  Liara deserves free fruit pie dammit!!

We already know that's she's devoted to Shepard, and in love with her, and that she's suffered terrible emotional torment and anguish in the two years Shepard's been gone. I was thinking of what Bioware could do in the last comic to really ****** people off even more. So far, it looks like it is going to be underwhelming (Project Lazarus, Cerberus keeps her quiet, etc). One way to really, really throw a curveball would be if Liara bonded with Feron, not out of sexual desire, but out of some way to preserve him as he may have sacrificed himself willingly. We know drell are big on memories and what not.



That would of course cause a nuclear explosion of drama amongst all of ME fandom. Just a random thought though.

That would bring the forums down. Although, there are two types of melds though. Wouldn't Liara have a fit when he melded with Shiala for the cypher? I think there's two distinct melds. I don't think I'd freak out if it was for information exchange.

I think a meld is a meld.  The intensity of the bond depends on how often you "mate" I think.  I think some asari (or maybe the Codex) mentions a maiden can trigger a matron stage earlier by mating more often (bonding) than others.

I agree.  Knowledge melds are different somehow.  I'm sure Liara has knowledge-melded before in the past with other asari.

Fundamentally, I think the meld is the merging of two nervous systems. The intensity I am sure depends on how "open" the other person is and the purpose of it. For example, the initial melds with Shepard were about the Beacon, but I am sure that played into pushing the maiden Liara into wanting something more lasting with the Commander.



I imagine saving Feron's memories or thoughts would be fairly intimate though. Talk about driving the knife into Liara's fans though. I think even some of her most loyal supporters would abandon her then. I hope that is just my conspiracy theory tin foil ways rather than Bioware's intention.



With that said, maybe Liara is triggering her matron stage earlier? Her freckles are gone and voice changed...that's another interesting notion.

The Meld is controled by the Asari performing the meld, Liara explains the romantic type (private coversation in med lap) as well as general information type (Comm room melds), The Asari either looks to memories for information or the deeper type for reproduction.

I don't see a reason for her to meld with Feron. Even to preserve his memories as someone suggested. I don't think that is a good enough reason... remember the meld with Shiala was before she and shep became lovers and melded.

After that... I think she would be very hesitant to meld with anyone knowing that there wasa chance Shep was coming back. I just don't see her violating the sanctity of a meld after they have become bondmates. And I'm quite sure in the ensuing time between the end of ME1 and beginning of ME2 they shared quite a few more melds.

Just don't see her doing that.

Well, comics are by necessity rather rushed plot wise.



As for the matron theory of Liara, that really starts to make a lot of sense. We know turning into a matron marks a tremendous change physically, emotionally, and hormonally. If Liara is "maturing", her feelings may be towards settling down and establishing herself. That may be why being the Shadow Broker may be enticing to her. Maybe even more conflicting is how unsure she would be about where she stands with Shepard...



It also sets up an ending to ME 3 well. Out of all the aliens, Liara is the only one Shepard can have a real "family" with. Even amongst the humans, Ashley/Miranda/Kaiden are still fairly young. A maiden wouldn't necessarily want to settle down with Shepard, but a matron would...

Perhaps, like Shepard, Feron has something buried within him that can only be recovered through a meld.  We assume he is working for Cerberus, who knows what the hell is in his head.  Even more, if he is working for some other organization...
