You can actually talk with Joker about Ash/Kaidan after you met them. I don't remember the exact words, but basically Shepard can indeed express her/his sadness about how things went with the former LI. The romance definitely gets some acknowledgement there. Furthermore, TIM asks Shepard if she/he has put away the old relationships. As far as I know though, he always asks that question after Horizon, regardless of if the Virmire survivor even was the LI.

But no one in the game recognizes the Liara romance. Even Shepard seems to only remember immediately before she goes through the Omega 4 portal. <_<

As I said, especially the Chakwas scene is a moment where it's simply artificial and immersion-breaking NOT to allow Shepard to mention them.

Honestly, whichever Liara prefers. If she wants to take Shepard's name, then I'm fine with that. I'd have no problem if she were to keep her name, though. I like T'Soni better than Shepard.

I think we had a similar discussion before about what Liara and Shepard's daughter's name would be, whether it would be "Liana Shepard-T'Soni" . I'd just go with whatever Liara wants, as I don't really mind.

I could imagine Liara wanting to honour Shepard's name, though. She's just so deeply in love with her.

so my vote is for classic Liara T'Soni, because it's obvious that she loves Shep AND he loves her, so there is no need to change names...in my opinion of course=] also mornin everyone, and:

I do think that the DLC will mean that we finally get Liara's full ME2 role as BW have always intended, and after that there will be discussion about the relationship and a rekindling of the romance, when I believe Liara will open up to Shepard and let her emotions go, admitting all of the pain she's suffered and her guilt. Ah, ok. I didn't know that.
Maybe BW wanted to compensate that Ash/Kaidan just appear physically for some seconds.

Definitely a comforting thought. Liara will always be welcome on the Normandy, and Shepards cabine sure has enough room.

Ah thanks, good to know. Hope they give her a good transition between the comic and the game, either in DLC or in ME3. They definitely leave a lot of story hanging in the air with her.

My last one, fun as it is. I think this couldn't have turned out better anyway. That's my canon Shepard. As I said before, I for one increasingly doubt that we'll ever see a proper continuation and conclusion. So I think I'll just keep this picture in mind and ignore what BioWare/EA did and might yet do. Doesn't make the disappointment and anger disappear (the ME 1 LI disgrace is only one of my numerous complaints with the game after all), but it helps.

I could even easily put the two in front of another background, and pretend it's part of the bonding ceremony, you know, the one that should happen in ME 3 but probably never will. If it's bad enough, I'll not play ME 3 anyway. So if BioWare/EA doesn't deliver, that's my conclusion right there, and screw them. If they do prove me wrong after all - and of course I very much hope so - then all the better.

regardless of the outcome, so far we haven't seen anything yet so it is better to stay optimistic than pessimistic=]
