I think she can use any weapon, however, she is trained to use only pistols, and isnt so great with other weapons.

Perhaps the console versions are different, but in the PC version Liara has no weapon talents at all. That means she uses all weapons with equal (lack of) proficiency. I have her using the assault rifle typically because it's the best of the four options in ME1. Also, realistically, an assault rifle would be the easiest of the bunch for someone with no weapons training to use effectively.

However, when I select anything but the pistol it will say "untrained".

If you've ever played a Sentinel in ME1, you know you can still use the 'zoom' feature with pistols even though you cannot place talent points in pistols. This is the only place this happens as you need to have advanced training in a weapon to use zoom and take talent points.

What I'm doing on my Adept Kate Shepard playthrough is have Shepard use a pistol and her biotics, have Liara use a pistol and her biotics, which I'll then change to an assault rifle once the better ones become available, and Garrus with a sniper rifle and all of his techy abilities. It's an awesome team, plus Kate and Liara are like an awesome butt kicking and sexy biotic duo.

I love having Liara at my side.:wub:

Alright folks, I actually wanted to save this until I completed the story but its turning into a real bear and thought you might as well read what I have so far. The link is below to my newest work, which I think includes some major improvements in the style of writing I have (who knows though).



It's called "Holding On to Let Go". It begins in the days of ME 1 but I eventually plan to have a few vignettes in the ME 2 days (and some drama). It deals with an Earthborn Shepard's struggle to deal with a trauma in the past and her reliance on Liara to do so. It is a pretty surprise ending I have planned and I think it may play into Liara's real personality and determination.



Also, I wrote a little piece on the Illusive Man as well called Through A Looking Glass Darkly, but I know he doesn't have many fans here!

Nice screw, I'll check it out. I do enjoy reading your fanfictions featuring Liara, you always have an interesting take on her character, and how she's suffered, her experiences and her love for Shepard. Thanks for sharing.
