I honestly don't like the lighting in Liara's office, doesn't do her justice.

*Shakes her fist at Bioware* another fail!

Liara will be blue on the Normandy and in the Citadel Presidium from what I can tell from those two comparision composites I did.  Everywhere else blue skin tones are screwed up.  I think when they did all the "kewl" lighting and color effects for the game they only checked them against human skin tones.  You can just look at Samara's chest or check out the two montages in my Liara album.

Interesting. So the greyness only comes from putting the textures into the Illium environment?

Welcome, it's always great to see another Liara fan!

Well, give it a few more hours and then it'll be Saturday. Four more days until Redemption #4 is released! I can't wait, I really am looking forward to seeing some more Liara and finding out what's really going on with her predicament in situation in ME2. There's more to it than what it seems, and I for one am eager to find out if Liara has been manipulated into the position she finds herself in during ME2. Can't wait!!

Thank you LesEnfants!..Image IPBImage IPB...waiting for #4 is killing me!!!...I really can't wait...I strongly believe that Liara is manipulated or used by someone...probably TIM...Image IPB

Indeed, that's why I'm really eager to see Liara back on board the Normandy again, probably during her DLC when I believe she'll be a temporary squadmate, and get her out of the poor lighting in her office on Illium. Looking at your comparison pictures JP, it really does screw with Liara's skin colour. You only have to look at the difference when you first enter and she exclaims "Shepard!", and when she's sat down at her desk. It makes her look completely different.

I hope that her eyes are the same brilliant and vibrant blue when back on board the Normandy, too. It's so sad seeing them as that dull, grey colour. :/

The only two places I could find were the Normandy and Citadel Presidium where they weren't shifted grey Image IPB
Suppose I could post this again, let me know if it annoys anyone.  I don't want to be spamming anyone with pictures of TestShep even if it is for Liara-related research.

Like I said the first time, you can check to see how it'd look for yourself just by looking at what Samara's chest looks like in any given zone.

I do hope that, if indeed TIM has emotionally manipulated Liara, using her love and compassion for Shepard as a means to control her and put her into the situation she finds herself in during ME2, that you can bring this up during a discussion with TIM if you find out in the Liara DLC. He'd have ALOT to answer for. How dare he do that to my lovely Liara!

If he did that, he won't be answering questions, he'll be gunned for. :)

He will be varren meat, even that may be to easy on him.

You can defintely see a difference between the first two and the rest. It's like the human lighting gives everything a bluer vision. The Normandy is a human ship and the Presidium is the Human ward of the Citadel. I doubt there's anything to it really, but it's a funny coincidence.

I think this pic is most telling. You can really see the difference in skin colour between the Normandy and Liara's office. It really does alter the tone of the asari blue.

Like I said, I can't wait until we see Liara back on board the Normandy and looking her beautiful blue again.

Right before the SB fits inside a coffee cup.

I still say we need a patch that replaces the glass Liara has on Ilium with a coffee cup. Detective Anaya has a coffee cup, why can't Liara have one? :(

Here's some eye shots of my Shepard when she isn't being experimented on, so all her features are natural. First shot is on the Normandy, the rest are on Illium making my way to Liara's office.

Image IPB

The brown eyes are from staring into Illium's sun. Seems like eyes aren't affected quite as much, plus you can see how the lighting doesn't affect human skin tones as much as blues.

Yeah, she does look angry, was she in the bubble in this shot.

JP I can still perceive it somewhat dulling the blue of your Shepard's eye colour, though. I think that's what might have happened with Liara's eyes in her office too.

Question is, was this a conscious design choice? Did that deliberately do this to Liara in order to symbolise her suffering, guilt and the stress she's been under?

That's my guess. That's one of the subtle things that BioWare does with their games and story that you don't see in most productions these days. Symbolism. It's key to a great story and atmosphere. I bet there's some dev that sees how much we focus on it and that means he's done his job. I think the dialogue was totally lacking, but the atmosphere was spot on.

Indeed, Justin. From the atmosphere of the reunion you really do get a feel for Liara's suffering, and the stress, guilt and emotional torment she's been under. It also looks like that you often have a shadow obscuring half of her face, too.

Gives me hope that if Liara visits Shepard's cabin in the DLC to hopefully have an emotional reconciliation, we'll see Liara's face beautifully illuminated again, as Liara opens her heart and Shepard helps to comfort and console her.

Yeah it does affect eyes a bit, and if you look closely at the last pair of shots, which are inside Liara's office, you can see that her eyes are shifted a bit towards purple.
I think they just checked the lighting against human skin tones.  My Shepard's skin tone changes around Illium, but it isn't anything weird looking or beyond what you'd expect someone with that skin tone to look like under different types of lighting.  So it's an environmental effect with some types of lighting that you see everywhere but on the Normandy and Citadel Presidium.  Liara and Samara are both shifted grey, and my TestShep seems to match them pretty close.
They tried to fix it a bit it looks like with the blue lighting in the dialog with Liara, you can really see the blue lighting shining on the back of her head in this one.

Ah yeah, never noticed that blue lighting before. Odd how it only seems to work on the back of Liara's head, though, as I've never seen her face that blue when you engage in conversation with her. Her face always seems to be that grey colour when you speak to her.

I hope they fix this, and it's not present in ME3. I want to Liara to be her same sassy blue that she was in ME1 at all times throughout ME3!

Awww, I love that pic, I think it's a brilliant creation. Really does look like Liara and Shep took that picture together whilst they were out having fun on a date or something. Beautiful!
