I don't have one!  But, this is the Shep who romances, Liara, so . . .

Anyway, random thought, has anyone else thought that Aria could be Liara's other dad?  I'm so convinced, but everyone seems bent on proving Aria and Aleena are the same person.

Aria and Aleena speculation is all based off of one quote, that connection is weak in my opinion. I don't think we'll ever know who Liara's father was.

EDIT - Can't say I do Unata. It's awesome though.

I was going through all my fraps videos from ME, came across one I took a while ago and remembered why.

If you consider just how large the Asari civilization probably is and just how many Matriarchs there might be, I wonder why this Citadel Asari Counciler gets such a sad look on her face when implicating Benezia as Saren's co-conspirator, unless she knows her personally.

Lover the pic. She would be my second favorite Asari after Liara, love the face markings. Image IPB

I dont think she is, if anything it seems more likely the asari matriarch on Illium is her dad, and even that is just speculation.

She did recognize Benezia from one voice sample.  I can't really imagine the Council not knowing about the evidence beforehand though and preparing ahead of time.  But still that is conjecture, and within what is presented in the game she did recognize Benezia right away.  That's why I've always thought Benezia was not just a Matriarch, but a top tier Matriarch.
It'd be nice if we had more information on the other races.  All it says in the novel Redemption is that asari space is the largest in the galaxy, they have the largest economy, been a stellar race the longest, and are all things considered the most "powerful".  I can't really see them not having a few hundred billion people, if not close to a trillion compared to humanity having maybe a bit more than 10 billion.  The asari have been colonizing worlds for almost 3 millenia.  I guess if they did give that kind of information on the big three races though it'd make humanity's position seem even more absurd, let alone all the Cerberus crap.

I think it's a combination of worry that Benezia is also working with Saren, and thus betraying the Council, and concern that it's so unlike her to do such a thing. Benezia is a highly renowned matriarch amongst the asari, and a great political leader and religious teacher. I can imagine it would be troubling to think such a powerful and influential figure is seemingly aiding Saren in his plot.

I've actually seen people use this sad look from the asari councillor as evidence she could be Liara's other parent. I don't think so, but then again which asari across both games HASN'T been theorised to be Liara's father? :P

Aw, oh well :(

They NEED to resolve the mystery behind Liara's other parent. I'm dying to know, and every speculation really does have weak arguments to support it. If it's not Aria, the bartender on Illium would be just as kick@ss, even better! I just like the idea of a bit of scandal if it's Aria. Oh well

/pointless speculation. For now :P

If it's Aethyta then that would be the best father in law in the history of the galaxy. =]

Everyone and their mother say Aria and Aleena are one and the same, also, Liara encounters Aria in the comic, nary a hint of recognition of any sort, I think it's Aethyta myself, Liara had to get her combat prowess from someone, Benezia wasn't much of a combatant Image IPB

Yeah, I don't really share the concern on that issue some people have.  I don't want to stomp around kicking sandcastles though.  I just think we'll find out who Liara's father was right after we find out who Mordin's father was.  And that last sentence is amusing because Mordin can never have a father or a son.

Is there a question about Mordin's origins?

I'm not saying one way or the other, if she is Liara's father or not. But...being the Councilor for the Asari, and having a pureblood daughter. That's not politically convenient. As the Asari Councilor she would be promoting the idea that the Asari are a galactic force and that they want to see everyone join and hands, by happy, and be one big community. When it's become the custom for Asari to reach out to the other races and mate with them, it seems a step backward for her, if she had a pureblood daughter, and that could hurt her politically.

You kidding?! Benezia was a kickass combatant! Look at how powerful her biotics were, and her incredible mental strength in being able to seal away part of her mind from Sovereign's indoctrination so that she could return to her true self when she deems it most useful. Make no mistake, I think Benezia was awesome, very powerful, and definitely a source for Liara's seemingly precocious powerful biotics for a maiden.

Anyway, I think it's time for another beautiful Liara pic:

Nope, but I do read the codex entries and understand genetics.  Salarians are haplodiploid egg layers.  That means that salarian females have two sets of chromosomes, one from their father and one from their mother.  Salarian males only have one set, from their mother.  So Salarian males don't have a father, can't have sons, but do have a grandfather and grandsons.  Salarian eggs that are fertilized by a male become females, unfertilized eggs become males.  Arguably, salarian males are like walking, talking, sperm cells created by females to spread their own genetic material to other females.

She is another probable awesome father, but the fact that she can die annoys me and makes me not want to consider her.  Mostly, because this issue can not be resolved in a happy manner.  Idk, I would love Liara to have a relationship with this parent at some point down the road!

While I said earlier that we probably won't get to meet her father, I do wish to see a resolution to this matter. It would be a nice way to build Liara's character even further.

I think it's the consort, plus she has all those secrets that Liara could use.

When I really think about it...I know this sounds really terrible, but even Liara agrees. I'd rather Liara's father have died. It would be less painful for Liara, then to learn her father has been alive, and abandoned her for all these years.
