Yeah, I'm not really convinced that asari parthogenesis would actually be asexual. There isn't a form of parthogenesis that matches what they do exactly. Gynogenesis is kind of close with the mechanism for fertilization, except that asari use neural impulses to trigger that rather than fluid contact. Automictic is close with how all the genetic material is from the mother and clone daughters aren't produced, but is inaccurate in that one set is being variated rather than a direct recombination.
About the only criteria they might meet for the asexual designation would be if they only release one gamete with both sets of chromosomes. If there are two gametes, one with the variated set and one with the unchanging set that are then fused together I wouldn't consider it asexual at all. We aren't told how many gametes they release though.
Interesting ideas. I don't think the writers put nearly as much thought into it as you!
Writer 1: You know what would be cool!
Writer 2: Whaaat?
Writer 1: It would be cool if these hot asari babes could mate with any species...even humans!! Even human women!!
Writer 2: Whoaa! Yes! Uhhh...how's this gonna work?
Writer 1: Uhhhh....mind sex!!
Writer 2: Yes! Mind sex! All species have minds! Asari have minds! Perfect!
Writer 1: Right. We'll throw in some biological sounding crap about nervous system linkng and DNA recombining to add some legitimacy and blah blah blah IT WILL BE AWESOME!!
