Yeah, I'm not really convinced that asari parthogenesis would actually be asexual. There isn't a form of parthogenesis that matches what they do exactly. Gynogenesis is kind of close with the mechanism for fertilization, except that asari use neural impulses to trigger that rather than fluid contact. Automictic is close with how all the genetic material is from the mother and clone daughters aren't produced, but is inaccurate in that one set is being variated rather than a direct recombination.
About the only criteria they might meet for the asexual designation would be if they only release one gamete with both sets of chromosomes. If there are two gametes, one with the variated set and one with the unchanging set that are then fused together I wouldn't consider it asexual at all. We aren't told how many gametes they release though.

Interesting ideas. I don't think the writers put nearly as much thought into it as you!

Writer 1: You know what would be cool!

Writer 2: Whaaat?

Writer 1: It would be cool if these hot asari babes could mate with any species...even humans!! Even human women!!

Writer 2: Whoaa! Yes! Uhhh...how's this gonna work?

Writer 1: Uhhhh....mind sex!!

Writer 2: Yes! Mind sex! All species have minds! Asari have minds! Perfect!

Writer 1: Right. We'll throw in some biological sounding crap about nervous system linkng and DNA recombining to add some legitimacy and blah blah blah IT WILL BE AWESOME!!

Not really. I know it isn't interesting for everyone. I try to give some explanation and why it relates to the game. But it isn't like it takes a whole lot of effort to go look up any terms on wikipedia if something isn't clear and you're interested in finding out more. The codex says asari reproduce by a form of parthogenesis, I'm just trying to explain how that works within what we know without pulling anything out of my ass.

It's completely true, though! Green is seemingly Liara's signature colour, and she looks absolutely stunning wearing it!

It's why she's always wearing Predator armour in my ME1 games.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to offend you, It's my stupid sense of humor. I am not always so serious, I apologize.

This is ME1 we're talking about though, where they actually did make an effort for scientific credibility with a lot of things. If you read those codex entries and then even look at something science-light like the parthogenesis page on wikipedia there was some thought put into explaining how it could happen.
They cover things like heat dispersion being limited to radiation in space, since conduction and convection obviously don't work in that environment. And like I said before about salarians, they're haplodiploid and that does mean a lot of interesting things that are represented in the game.
Anything in ME2 is fair game though. I don't know what the hell is going on there.

I missed the "I-have-given-your-body-to-cerberus"-dialogue option, so when i read Redemption after completing ME 2 i kinda felt really sorry for cheating on Liara with my male Shepard. -.-

That's what replays are for, my friend.

Give Liara the love she deserves!

Maybe I will replay the game with my first Shepard, but i think i will wait until short before ME 3 is there (long time, i know^^).
But the 'main' playthrough will be the first one, with all the mistakes and flaws. So i liked Ashley a lot, and being new to the Bioware/RPG mechanics I stayed with the bomb (and Kaidan) because I thought if I do not that I will fail the mission. I am used to linear Shooters where it is determined who will survive and who not. So when Ashley died i was like WTF:huh:. It was not that terrible because i was not going to romance her anyway, but it nevertheless was quite sad.

Ahh yes I used to be like you back in the day. Played stuff like Halo. Then I picked up KoToR and was like "whoa my decisions affect the outcome? You mean I get to PICK what I get to say?"

I haven't looked back since :P

Gah! My older brother used my issues one through three of Redemption as a fly swatter! A fly swatter! Sure, they were still in the plastic ziplock bag I keep them in for freshness, but still!

Well... it was a wasp-NO! I am still angry!

No need to apologize at all. I wasn't offended or thought there was even the slightest reason to be. I was just saying it definitely isn't interesting for everyone, and if it was there were ways to verify that stuff or find out some more information.

Yes, exactly!
But although I didn't like the outcome I didn't reload. It is way more dramatic when you take it as it comes.
Thankfully I was nice to Wrex on Virmire and didn't listen to Miranda on the suicide mission.^_^

It's one of the reasons this forum is so interesting, I mean we all know what happens between humans right?

That's another thing that annoyed and disappointed me about ME2. They seemingly abandoned alot of the hard science and scientific factuality that was present in ME1. Take a look at the planetary descriptions. In ME1, they were alot more interesting and provided alot of insight into how extra-terrestrial celestial bodies function, and work. They explained if a plnet is or ever will be capable of support life, the planets element composition. In ME2 we get none of that, just very brief and vague descriptions.

But, this is a little off topic. Continue the Liara love!
