On a side note, I had started another ME2 game. I am really really trying hard to like this game, but it just isn't happening. I tried going back to ME1 and seeing Liara again knowing that is the last time I get to be with her was just too much, ME2 has even ruined ME1 for me. At this rate I'm going to end up restarting my old WoW account. /cry

I am enjoying my second playthrough of ME2.  I just put the main plot out of my mind.  The game is good if you ignore the main plot and try your best to stomach what they did to Liara, and honestly, the main plot is not so bad either, it would actually be pretty good if this was an ME spin off about someone other then Shepard.   The main problem with it is the lack of continuity, and a failure to progress the main story and main character's.

Agreed, if it was a spin-off with Conrad Verner as the protagonist and knew a "real" ME2 was on the way I'd be eating it up.  Without Liara around though I just can't get myself to care about any of the characters and honestly, if I just wanted a shooter 1) There are games that do it better and 2) I wouldn't be playing Bioware games

nice, you are already better at writing Liara than Mac Walters.

Soon as I heard her say "Aye Aye" to Shepard when the Normandy was going down I knew things were gonna be bad.

When I heard that the other LI threads got locked for length I came here to repost the wallpaper but saw that Nozy had beaten me to it, and on the first page no less.  Thanks Nozy. :)

I'd also like to express my desire for it to be impossible to continue the romance if you cheated. Or...at the very least, very difficult. I don't know that Bioware will comply, but it would make me feel better, and I'm sure a lot would agree. We all waited for Liara, through the whole series. It would make me unhappy if people could just jump back and forth simply because they had a certain amount of paragon points.

For example, I know a lot of tali-lovers romanced Liara in ME1, and as much as I hate to say it. I want it to break Liara's heart. :?

I agree.   I don't want getting back with the ME1 LI to be too easy if you cheated on them.  I also want the cheaters to feel bad about it and I want Liara to react in a way that ensures this.  What I don't want is for Liara to lash out violently  at the new LI and start a fight.  This would give the cheaters a reason to feel justified when they on Liara (OMG!  Liara's such a crazy b*tch!   It's her fault I cheated...that's what she gets for being nutso!!).

I'd rather Liara take the 'bad news' from Shepard well but with an obvious pained and saddened expression on her face.  I want the cheaters feeling guilty!!

No I demand tears and sobbing!  Make them feel really guilty!

The thing is - I don't think it fits Liara's character for her to not accept Shepard back. She expects Shepard to hate her, so I don't think she'd be really surprised if Shepard moved on.  She should feel very betrayed after what she went through, etc. But I have to think her guilt is such that she would probably think she deserved it on some level. I do totally agree that she should not freak out and react violently. Shepard should be able to try and win her back, even though it should be much more difficult.

Now, I think they really missed an opportunity to make this more interesting. Since you can't ask Liara about the status of your relationship, many players will probably assume there's nothing between them (or very little, anyway). The game doesn't do a good job of making it seem like you are actually making a willful choice to cheat on your devoted partner. I think it would have been much more interesting if you were OBVIOUSLY sleeping around.

Then you could have a Jack vs LI showdown. I would assume Jack would not take being left for a previous flame very well at all - if any character is going to react violently it would be her.

Anyone else sad that the Tali thread is already at 50 pages, the Miranda thread is over 20, and we are at.....5.  :crying:  It makes me sad to see Liara get so little appreciation.

/shrug Just do what they did in ME2 and don't give them the dialogue option to start the romance again.  Who cares if it makes sense or not.

Worked for ME2, why not mE3?

We just have to keep coming on here and talk about our favorite blue being.  Where can I find some good Liara fanfic?  I think I've read everything over at fanfiction.net.  Anyone know any other good places??:)

Well, we are not as obsessive as the Tali fans, with people writing fan fiction and drawing fanart, with non stop bumps, personally, I feel I am probably a little to obsessive with the Liara thread, but the Tali fans are just scary.

Miranda thread is a bunch of people posting more pics of Miranda and Yvonne or whatever her name is back to back, as if the actress really was the character and they are projecting their desires for the real person on to the character.  Even if we where doing that here, which we are not, there are not enough pics of Liara to full the pages since her part in ME2 was so small, and you can not find very many pics of the voice actress where we projecting our desires for her on to the character, which would make no sense for Liara.

I'm running through ME1 with the Liara/Garrus combo. Quite fun. Brings back the memories...

Hoping she plays a big role in ME3 (and maybe ME2 DLC?...)

I think omitting Liara from Mass Effect 2 was a very poor decision on several levels.
Mostly because she was a very intergral part of the progression of the story of the prothians, and with the discovery of the fact that the prothians are the basis for the collectors it would seem like she may have some insight or intrest in this revelation.  furthermore, there is a side mission on a planet (i forgot the name) on which you find a prothian pirimid thing that beams more images into your brain, again seems like a liara thing.

How's that different than it was before ME2 was released? Tali's always had the largest horde of followers among the ME squaddies. By a lot.

This is once again Bioware limiting what our Shepards can say to her. Shepard should be the one to bring up the romance, bring up what the Collectors really are, and talk about the extended vision. Stuff that should interest Liara we can not even talk to her about. She spent 50 years of her life studying Protheans and now that Shepard has the answers she was searching for, we can't even bring it up at all.

It is extremely annoying. <_<

Yeah, most of the writing around Liara in ME2 was just poor.  But then, let's be frank, while there's some good indivdual scenes in ME2, the overall story quality is much weaker than ME1.  The change in lead writers is really visible.  Hopefully it's a matter of Waters having to work with half not his script, half his script and he'll come into his own in ME3.

I do hope it's not a case of "well, these aren't my characters, so I don't care" but given they did a very good job with Garrus and Tali I think this probably isn't the case.

The main story line of ME2 is much weaker than ME1, it just seems to be running on the spot. By the end of the game we've destroyed the collectors but the reapers are still there and we are no closer to finding a weakness. There is foreshadowing about what might be coming next, but this isn't much. However the character stories in the game are very good, so good in places they they carry the game for me. However, as all these characters can be killed by decisions made by the player I'm still finding it hard to see what they were trying to do overall with ME2.

I'm hoping they just struggled in implementing a story for Liara in which she played a signifcant role but was not a killable squadmate. Still, this doesn't excuse BW of what we ended up with in ME2.

I have reached the acceptance stage with Liara, ME2 is done and on the shelves, all we can hope for now is for them to do her justice in ME3.

I am curious how they are going to pull off ME3 with so many possible squadmates from ME and ME2, particuarly with the possible death's of the squadies in 2, and the rumor's they are working on new squadmates.  I wonder if they will relegate them to the sideline cameo's that Liara and Ash/Kaiden got in this game, and boy will these forum's be a mess if that happen's.

They never said she would be a squadmate, they said she had a big role to play in ME3, and that your romance would have three stages in ME1, 2 and 3. Right now all we have is speculation, but if what we get from ME2 is suppose to be the rocky 2nd part of a romance, then who know's what part she will play in ME3.

ME3 is either going to be an insanely massive game to accommodate all the possible option's player's have had in the first two games, or a disappointment. I have not given up on Bioware but this is an insanely tall order to accomplish and some things in ME2 where lacking from a story telling standpoint.
