I'm also far from optimistic as far as this DLC is concerned. Not because I'm generally pessimistic, rather realistic. If you look at BioWare and EA, and their recent games and DLCs, there's just nothing there that leads me to believe a proper Liara DLC is on the way. Ignoring that will only increase your disappointment in the end. I know, I already read the writing all over the wall, that ME 2 would probably be far below the standard that ME 1 set. Still I trusted in BioWare, and told myself it had to be great, and started the game with very high expectations still. And then it went like this: :happy::mellow::?<_<

I'm a realistic type as well but tend towards optimism, BW may well have surprizes in store, for instance, we have in the last DLC a eh not so exciting tank? but they put that prothean ball in there, why? just to put more junk in our cabin? Easter Egg? hmm could be so close to easter Image IPB

Why bother with more Prothean stuff since we've already found out about them?

Something is in the works, what I dunno, just hope it make my heart happy Image IPB

I always try to be optimistic no matter what, but in this situation it is even easier because of logic.
Look at what has been presented to us (Liara's emotions, some forshadowing and such), then look at the possible outcomes. Some type of substantial, emotional DLC is going to be the outcome, the pervious DLC means nothing, it can all be thought of logically instead of saying BioWare is lazy. Tank = Shoot people, Zaeed/Kasumi = Mercs, Guns = Shoot people.
I would be the first one to say there may be no hope if I thought that was true.
Financial logic also comes into play here in a good way. Financial logic is almost always completely illogical, but it can give you some insight into what the company is thinking.

Putting extra time into Liara costs money, those guys at EA don't want to spend money on nothing, they would probably make BioWare put the Liara DLC out even if BioWare didn't want to.
So the fact that the comics and the actual game for Liara has a heavy emphasis on her emotional struggle, means someone at EA and BioWare had to give it a green light.
Why would they put any extra work into Liara if they were just going to give up or not take advantage of it in the first place?

As I said, what gives me hope is that Liara's DLC was developed simuletaneously with the rest of the game, and was actually inteded to be a large part of it as Liara's full ME2 role, but due to Redemption it had to be held back, and released as DLC so as not to spoil the comic.

In a way, I believe that it's not really DLC at all, but a delayed release of Liara's full ME2 content. I know that sounds terrible, that they should have given Liara her full ME2 role anyway, but they can't spoil Redemption. They had no choice.

Well we know a far-reaching expansion of some kind is coming in 2011, probably a year or so out from ME 3. I imagine it is going to set the stage for the last game so that may include losing crew members (those who said they'd leave after the Collector Base) and adding a few or at least securing their loyalty for later. I imagine Liara will play a part, but then again so will Ashley/Kaiden.

As to whether or not there will be a completely separate Liara/SB DLC, I know not. It will either be rolled into whatever comes out in 2011 (or IS whatever comes out) or will have to come between now and the start of next year. With Kasumi out in a day, I imagine the next BIG DLC might not be until E3 or after...

This is exactly what I was thinking. Either way, there's more content that will close the gap between now and ME3.

Doesn't sound terrible if you look at it from a financial view point, I also think they chopped up Liara's role just for the comic, greedy bastiges, play on our emotions to gain profit (Begining to think Bioware is run by the Volus), but they are a company and companies need to make money and being as Liara has been a major player they had to pick her to mess up.

Worse yet, BioWare's development is being foreshadowed by the Shadow Broker himself. I smell conspiracy!!! :o

Yep, they have the other two plots besides Reapers, Cerberus and Shadow Broker, Cerberus is sort of handled in mostly in ME2, but it isn't complete, then Shadow Broker rears it's head in comic and Liara's encounter, don't really think they will leave them out to dry.

Easy: They had to provide some kind of story arc anyway, so why not go with something established instead of producing something new? Typical BioWare/EA DLC laziness. Even the shape of the Prothean artifact - and in result the trophy for the casual gamers - was simply an unimaginative basic thing.

But, enough with "pessimism" and criticizing ME 2. For now. So, uh... Liara forever!

I'm not expecting any huge branching regardless. Even if there is an option to spare the Shadow Broker it won't make any difference beyond a line or two of dialog at the time and whether the points you get are blue or red. He'll either end up dead or as good as dead. It's like your "relationship" with TIM throughout the game. It only ever matters what you say to him that one time at the Collector base. Everything else is just meaningless babbling you click on to milk out a few colored points of your choice.

Jacob's father, Garrus and Sidonis, Miranda and her sister/friend, etc. They all prove that in the end it just doesn't matter what you do, it effectively turns out the same. You have to intentionally screw things up royally to make a difference, like turning in the evidence with Tali. Even with Tali though you can do stuff like be a jerk in ME1 and refuse to give her the Geth data and it doesn't change anything but give you an additional dialog choice that leads to the same conclusion. Hell, you can even not recruit Garrus at all in ME1 and how much of a difference does it make in ME2?

What I am expecting from Liara's DLC is deep, emotional and intimate dialogue and interaction with her, and extra lines and a scene if she's your LI. They have to really, the way her character has been written in Redemption and ME2, with her deep love and devotion to Shepard and her suffering, torment and guilt, it'd feel totally unnatural if you can't comfort Liara, or if the love that you have for each other is never brought up and rekindled. For all we know, Liara's DLC could just be destroying a major SB base and learning of Feron's fate, whilst comforting Liara and rekindling the romance, and easing her pain in the process. Then finally ending the SB could be the first major goal of ME3.

Either way, deep, intimate and emotional dialogue has to be included in Liara's DLC, with additional lines and a scene if she's your LI. They have to, it'd be completely unnatural and artificial if they didn't.

That's one thing that's really perturbed me with the series so far. Importing a Shep doesn't really change the outcome very much at all, outside of different posters on the wall, a line of dialogue and an email. The only real difference I've noticed is Wrex. Tuchanka turns out entirely different if he's not alive. The rest is artificial.

There are different posters on the wall?

And I agree, they didnt do such a great job with the importing.
The only real differences are the council being able to survive, along with Wrex, your ME1 LI, and Nassana Dantius recoginzing you. Not much more then that.

Yeah, I forget which ones. They said importing can change up to 700ish things. Most of them are cosmetic. You may have changed a poster on the Citadel walls, but nothing with a great impact. I don't have a specific poster example but it was mentioned in an interview I had read.

As for the Council, I really hope that me keeping them alive with Anderson and reinstating my spectre status really changes how the game plays out. If I quit Cerberus and joined the Spectres again, I shouldn't be staring at almost the same stuff as a renegade player.

I agree there wont be a lot of choices in a DLC,as I see it their are three ways a Liara/SB DLC can play out either he ends up dead, gets away or doesnt appear at all,as in the base or wherever you end up turns out to be a trap, which is quite likely since the Shadow Broker doesnt strike as the type that comes out to fight

Also the choices in ME2 were all in all quite disapointing, aside from the base,I doubt there will be much impact maybe Tali and Legions loyality missions have an impact but,if that goes beyond a few angry lines has yet to be seen

I agree, the renegade should win with Cerberus and tech. The paragon wins by rallying all sorts of other races under his/her banner. Rachi, the Krogan, the Geth. You helped them all, it's time they help you in return.

The reason being that alot of ME1 choices don't seem to have much effect now is because they're going to show they're true effects in the finale, ie ME3. You'll finally see a difference if you saved Wrex (a stronger and united krogan army), you'll get different outcomes based upon whether you saved the Citadel Council, and who you chose as councillor. We'll finally see the Rachni army have an effect too. As it stands, we're just being given little pointers and reminders, or seeing these effects start to develop (Wrex strengthening the krogan). Basically, wait until ME3 to see all of our decisions come into effect.

Oh, and two days left to go!! More Liara!!
