Alliance? With the way things played out between ME1 and 2, killing the rachni queen and then still destroying the collector base is a double bad thing. Now you have one less ally, and no tech to replace it with. If you do get the tech, you're putting it into the hands of TIM. I have a renegade character to check it out, but honestly my canon Shep is paragon. It makes too much sense.

EDIT - JP is right on the money. I want them to prove everyone wrong with Liara's upcoming DLC and ME3. Right now though, paragon and renegade are running in parallel, and DLC isn't that great. I want BioWare to make the most epic comeback ever.

I could never give TIM that base, who knows what he would do with it.

But I just dont trust that giant insect. We dont need a race that has been dead for centuries to help us against the reapers.

I'm not sure what else it would lead to, but there is no actual proof. That's what I had assumed.

The reason being that alot of ME1 choices don't seem to have much effect now is because they're going to show they're true effects in the finale, ie ME3. I'm not sure where your hatred of the Rachni come from, but it's your Shepard and story. Only time will tell if it really helps or hurts your case. Let the BioWare gods reveal!!

Yeah, I have seen it. Its even worse if Shepard dies, then you see Cerberus ships flying to the base.

That grin of his was just sinister, and pure evil. No way he should get that base.

When it comes to giving him the base I go with Samaras take on it he thinks he has the wisdom to use it yet he does not

 Tim is a creep....but the base could be valuable....unless it's a meaningless decision as stated before.

TIM will get my Shepard's foot up his arse if it does turn out that he's been manipulating and using Liara like a tool.

Hell, he's already got some explaining to do for playing Liara in Redemption, using her love for Shepard to manipulate her, and lying about her to Shepard and saying she can't be trusted. Git, how dare he do that to my Liara!

To me the Rachni are simular to Whales in that they "sing" and their songs span great distances, Whales are HUGE but nice (non-violent) basicly, Rachni are Ugly but nice (non-violent) basicly

A couple reasons. First the rachni wars weren't their fault. Second I don't think they will turn in a few centuries. Third, they will make an excellent ally when the day of reckoning comes. Fourth, Liara told me to :wub:

Valuable yes, but not in the hands of TIM, that means it just becomes a new TIM throne making device.

I thought it was a pleasant surprise. It took me entirely off guard and I was stoked to see that it will pay off in ME3.

I still think reaper tech is to dangerous to just toy around with it like Cerberus does a lot of that stuff is tainted with indoctrination,while that didnt seem to be the case with base,as far as we know there might be other risks involved.
I also think playing around with husks is a not good idea either not even because Cerberus wiped out an entire colony to test the technology,but employing them as Shocktroops like Miranda suggested,I wonder how Eden Prime would have turned out with Husks protecting the colony,who knows what effect Sovereigns presence could have had on them.

That was the only thing that made me a little sad, the fact that she told me to let them live.:crying:

But Wrex was there, and he had a good point. Plus I hate rachni so....:devil:

Umm, without bugs we'd be in big trouble, seriously, very important to our eco system, sure there are some nasty bugs, just like people, animals, birds, fish, not all bugs are though

Regarding saving the base, don't forget about what Vigil said about the Reapers in ME1, that they deliberately leave their technology behind so that organics and their civilizations evolve in ways that makes them predictable, and easy to conquer.



Seems like foreshadowing to me. Using the Collector base = using Reaper technology = you act and evolve in ways the Reapers can predict and plan for, in exactly the same way as all galactic races using the Citadel and the mass relays as the centre of their civilizations.
