For the last frigging time, how many times to I have to reiterate that the only logical explanation is not that Liara has a thing for Feron? Jesus Christ.

Some of you need to seriously get a grip. Just because Liara has associated with someone else, and you can't be bothered to look deeper into why she doesn't come running like a lapdog when Shepard snaps his/her fingers, you assume the easiest and laziest reason, one with no basis in fact or evidence at all.

Wisen up, people. Please.

Someones getting angry.

You raged on the thread a lot today.:crying:

Everyone seems to forget how much meaning importance Liara put into the Union when she was talking to Shepard about it. If she gave Shepards body to Cerberus, knowing they could bring him back, then I don't think that it is at all within her character to "just move on", especially after only a few months. Not after joining consciousness with Shepard and seeing everything about him. She hasn't moved on. She can't.

This is the real reason they put a bar on the Normandy. They knew we'd all be pissed off and need a drink.

I truly feel all ME1 romances were handled the way they were so that the players have to re-romance them again in ME3. Remember, ME3 has to serve as a stand alone game and as part of a trilogy.  It's walking a tightrope similar to the comic. I don't think BW or any other game company has the capability to give one player a default game with no romances and another player a full fledged relationship from the get-go.  Think how little the decisions in ME1 really mattered in ME2.  It adds a lot to the game, but it is not mandatory.

I don't know if this is an overselling of the importability of a player character, unrealistic expectations on the part of players or a combination of the two.  I do know that, despite BW's reasoning, I think it will be fun rekindling the  fires with the BBG.  We'll have to wait for ME3 for that, but until then, post more pics!

To play devil's advocate here...Liara could be broken up over Feron and not Shepard...if she was truly in this dark place, because she loves and misses Shepard...then why not go with Shepard, and sort it all out on the Normandy...if the very fiber of her being, is that she loves and misses Shepard with all her heart and soul...then wouldn't going with Shepard, no matter what Shepard is now, be more important then anything? Liara isn't going to figure out what Cerberus did to Shepard, or what Shepard has become, by sitting in her office.

Because she IS broken up over Shepard!! She even bloody says that in-game during ME2! And the fact that she's so broken up over Shepard, the person she loves, is what's fuelling her desire to end the Shadow Broker. Because of her failure to cope with her guilt, sorrow and emotional torment, she transfers all of that despair into hate and projects it onto a convenient individual in the Shadow Broker. Liara believes that by ending the Shdow Broker, it will help ease her pain and she'll be happy again. We're artifically prevented from comforting Liara in ME2 because they need to maintain the status quo of her being hurt and in emotional pain, because they're holding it over for the DLC, and because they need a reason for her to not be on the Normandy. If we were able to comfort her, and ease her pain and tell her that offing the SB isn't going to make her feel better, then she'd be right back on the Normandy at Shep's side, happy and contented again and with the person we love.

My advice is to wait for the DLC.

Okay, this is good too.  One point, though, we have to remember that she can 'love' Shepard like a sister or brother, and still do this kind of thing.  (I think I would for my brothers or sisters, though one of them actually said not to.  I had to tell him it's impossible so it's moot.  I have a weird family.  Anyway.)

But guilt over Shepard... both over giving her over to Cerberus (when she might ComeBackWrong and might be happy where she is anyway), and over sacrificing anyone over that effort -- especially someone aiding her like Feron ... that explains a lot.

I wish we didn't have to do all the work to explain it, and I'm torn between grading Mac's overall job regarding Liara as a D+ or a C-, because ... it really shouldn't have been so vague.  But I think we have another piece of the puzzle.  Plus Kasumi of all people talking about ME1 LIs, including Liara... it kind of makes me feel that they know there's a hole and they're gonna try to patch it up.  (As this is about comic books, insert Power Girl joke here.)

Thank you beavis. Wise words my friend. People forget how Liara described the asari union in ME1, and how deep and spiritual it is to her, and how it's the ultimate loving bond that transcends time and space between two devoted, trusting lovers and partners. That's how much Shepard means to Liara.

As for Liara trying to rescue Feron, can you people possibly try to see that Liara is appreciative of Feron's sacrifice alone, and that's why she's hunting him? It's not about him as a person at all, or any ridiculous feelings for him?

Or are you so damn possesive, jealous and paranoid that you can't stand it if Liara is associated with someone else? You see her with someone that isn't Shepard and go "OMG CHEATER BLARGH!!!"

Like I said, get a grip.

Kasumi talks about the new romances too though, so that makes it not as big a deal...It's a big deal to Liara fans, because no one talked to us about her...but Kaidan and Ashley already were talked about.

Everyone seems to be frustrated, and with good reason.  The comic conclusion sucked and we've been hoping it made more sense than the game for more than two months.  And it doesn't at all.
People are just expressing that frustration differently.  Asking for perspective on an issue from other people is hardly less constructive than cackling and gloating while running around ringing funeral bells.

Wow, this thread is jamming tonight... I'm SO glad I'm not a Talimancer, I couldn't try to keep up with this pace for more than a day, if that...

Just saw this, and I agree.  I just think that some people are hardwired that our precious Thessian flower Liara can't possibly have any other reason to do anything than love for someone, including loyalty, guilt, anger, guilt, deditcation, and did I mention guilt?  That's what caused the 'love'-Feron blowup, in my opinion.  Still, I'm sticking with the 'She's scared that the Shepard walking around isn't hers, yet she did it anyway on the off-chance that it might work."

Exactly, it's patching a hole.

Unfortunately for us, we're still not sure why that hole exists.

Les, its not about being jealous and possessive at all, I think you are needlessly slating fellow Liara fans now with your almost rabid defensive position. We are all in the dark here and just stating our OPINIONS, you may not agree with them though I would suggest taking a step back, no-one else has been attacking on this forum today as you have. You are taking this far too personally
