My thoughts:

According to the comic, it seems Liara wanted Shep's remains for closure alone, never really believing Cerberus could bring him/her back. It is my belief that Liara began letting Shep go at this point. As I said before it's hard losing someone you love, without the adding false hope that they may one day return.
Liara then puts all her thoughts and energy in taking down the SB with a vengeance, determined to save Feron and get some sort of revenge over the death of her lover. 2 YEARS pass with this being Liara's sole purpose in life. Believing Shep is gone she moves on. Her love for Shep is ultimately displaced into her tireless efforts to avenge both Shep and Feron. Her respect for Feron growing all the while, seeing that he sacrificed himself for her own closure. Is it not possible these feelings for Feron could have perhaps grown? I mean come on 2 years is along time, for all she knew Feron was long gone, but still she aches to avenge or save, So much so it becomes more important than helping her resurrected former lover save the galaxy????? She makes excuses in-game about being watched and that she can't talk etc etc. shakes her head after the kiss...
This could all be interpreted as her having let you go already?
Its not a full theory, but to me it seems to make sense. She realises just how mush Feron did to aid her and is fuelled by her want to avenge him. Maybe not necessarily because she feels for him romantically, but lets face it Feron has been the driving force behind her 2 years of plotting (not that Shep wasn't)

Again, though, we're taking the comic at face value, when it's directly contradictory to ME2. Liara say in ME2 that she gave Cerberus the body "because they said they could rebuild you". Why would she seek closure by handing the body over to an organisation that say they're going to rebuild Shepard in the pursuit of closure? Surely she'd want Shepard buried or something. Plus, you're taking what Liara says in the comic literally. She says in ME2 that she lied to herself, that "she told herself she was doing it for you, for a chance to bring you back". Now, to me Liara telling Miranda that she should just let Shepard's body go seems to be Liara putting up token resistance, trying to ease what's already becoming her guilty conscience by lying to herself that Shepard wouldn't want it this way, and that she's doing it for Shepard alone. Liara then says "But I knew Cerberus would use you for their own businessm and I let that happen because I couldn't let you go." Now, this shows that deep down Liara always had selfish reasons for wanting to turn in Shepard to be rebuilt, because of her love for Shepard and because she couldn't bear to let him/her go. It's clear that Liara hated admitting to herself that she gave Shepard up for her own selfish reasons, and so she lies to Miranda about letting go, in order to soothe her guilty conscience. If Miranda had replied to her suggestion of letting the corpse go with "Oh, you think so?" Liara would have probably back-tracked immeditaley. You just have to look deeper at these things. Liara knew that Shepard was coming back, and she handed the body over to Cerberus for that very reason, because she couldn't let him/her go.

Again, you make the assumption that whatever is in the comic is gospel, which it clearly isn't as it's so contradictory with ME2. Liara's sole motive for hunting the SB isn't to save Feron, despite what the end of Redemption would have you believe. It's a combination of her massive guilt for handing Shepard over, her fear that Shepard will hate her and all of the suffering that she has endured, with her love for Shepard at it's heart. This means that her love for Shepard is still at the centre of her motives for taking down the Shadow Broker, and still exist strongly by the time Shepard comes around two years later, as evidenced by her fear that Shepard will hate her, and flat out telling Shepard that she gave Shepard's body up to Cerberus because she was in love, and couldn't let you go. Her love for Shepard is still there, as powerful and passionate as ever.

Regarding you saying that she'd move on from Shepard to not give herself false hope, isn't that applying a double standard with regards to her hunt for Feron? If she's trying to let go of her love for Shepard because there's only a chance he/she could come back, why would she then develop feelings for Feron, whom there's a very good chance is dead? Isn't that giving herself false hope too? Plus, how could she fall for the guy when he's not even there, particularly after everything she tells you about the asari union in ME1. She tells you that the asari union is a deep, spiritual and emotional bond between two loving, trusting and caring partners. Why would she let Shepard go after that, knowing that Cerberus are going to revive him/her? You trivialise Liara's devotion and love for Shepard. I know how much the asari union meant to her, I heard her myself. Shepard means that much to her. Plus, this whole theory is operating on the assumption that Liara is hunting Feron for anything more than appreciating his sacrifice for her, and not the man himself. Why is that so hard to grasp, that she just appreciates the sacrifice? She clearly didn't like the guy personally throughout the events of Redemption, so why would any of that change? It's a baseless assumption, with evidence to suggest otherwise. 2 years is a long time, yes, but her love for Shepard has clearly not diminished at all in that time. Otherwise, she wouldn't  be so guilty, and so afraid that Shepard will hate her.

I thought that we'd been over about why she makes excuses about being watched, about breaking off the kiss and the headshake. She's making excuses about being watched as she doesn't want to disclose what really happened with Cerberus and Shep's corpse, because she's afraid Shep will hate her. So she makes excuses that she's being recorded, in order to avoid having to go into it, and potentially revealing what happened. Same with the kiss and headshake. It's her fear, but I believe there's more to it than that. Do you remember back in ME1, how Liara only ever shows physical intimacy when she's completely comfortable with herself, Shepard, their trust and love for each other, and the fact that she herself is happy and contented. She has to be completely sure of herself before she becomes physically intimate. Now, fast forward to ME2, and Liara is tormented by grief, guilt, terrified that Shepard, her lover will hate her. She's not comfrtable with herself at all, she's not happy, she's afraid Shepard will hate her. That's why we only get an awkward kiss. It's testament to Liara's love for Shepard that she kisses him/her as soon as they meet in ME2 in the first place. She's completely uncomfortable with herself, wracked with guilt, and she still can't resist giving her lover a smooch. That's deep, and meaningful, particularly coming from someone like Liara. That's why she pulls away from the kiss.

And no, Feron has not been the main driving force behind her hunt for the SB, you're taking the comics and their crappy, erroneous scripts at face value again. ME2 confirms otherwise that alot of Liara's motives for hunting the SB are her guilt, pain, emotional torment and everything that the SB did to her and Shepard her lover. All of these are based around her love for Shepard. It's why she's hunting the SB, she believes that if she destroys him, it'll ease her pain and make her happy and contented again. It's why we're artificially prevented from comforting Liara in-game, because they need to maintain the status quo of Liara being in deep emotional pain, and it'll be tackled in Liara's DLC, where you can convince her that killing the SB isn't going to make her feel any better, and won't make her happy again, and you'll finally be able to rekindle the romance and have deep emotional conversation with her, in order to help comfot and console her. It's frustrating how we're prevented from comforting Liara in-game, but that's the reason I believe why. Bottom line is, her love for Shepard and her guilt and emotional pain is the main driving force over her 2 year hunt for the SB, and her desire to ease herself of that pain.

Also, do you really think that if Liara had developed feelings for someone else, that she'd string Shepard along like that? Remember Ashley being tempted to tease Liara because she seems incapable of lying? Liara never lies, and especially not to the person she loves and cherishes, and particularly when she's very forthright and honest about everything she discusses in her scenes in ME2, the only thing she holds back being that she gave the corpse to Cerberus, something she doesn't want to discuss for obvious reasons. I'm sorry, but I can't see how any part of this theory could fit at all. And this all operates on the assumption that Liara feels anything greater than appreciation for Feron's sacrifice, when it's clearly just that as she doesn't even personally like the guy, going by what happens in Redemption. Its Feron's sacrifice alone that she appreciates, not him on a personal level.

Thanks again, Enfants! your awesome walls of text always give a good positive spin on the situation.  I agree with you're analysis of Liara's appreciation of Feron's sacrifice vs. Feron the individual.  It really doesn't make sense that Liara would fall for Feron in such a short amount of time that he began to become above suspicion in her eyes.  Maybe rescuing Feron initially became a bit of a distraction for her as well, knowing Shep was then in the hands of Cerberus.

Lot's of things to ponder here.

I honestly think that she knew that Cerberus was going to bring Shep back before hand, and when Miranda told her they may not be able to she said move on, as a way to cover up. I think she was just lying to herself.
