As for Liara, there's some special dialogue with Kasumi that at least acknowledges that Liara and Shepard are an item.

At what point in the game do you get this? im playing it as end game content so i think im missing out..Image IPB

I think it is right after your first visit to Illium.

On a side note, I wonder what the renegade options when you finally get to talk to Liara will be...

I still don't see how else Kasumi would phrase it. Two years ago Shepard and Liara were together, enough that other people noticed and it got around. Then Shepard goes missing and is reported dead while Liara starts her business on Illium.
Saying you were an item is a factual statement based on common knowledge. Saying you still are an item is a presumption based on information that would be exclusive to Shepard and Liara at that point.
All she does is check for that Romanced Liara flag and make a comment if it is true based on what would always be true for every import with that flag. In order for anything more specific you'd need to be able to respond to her, which you can't.
I just take it as a third party recognition of the relationship you imported. Something that was lacking before. What each Shepard chooses to do after that relationship is imported is up to them. Kasumi is hardly some prescient Oracle of Love, her comments about Jacob pretty much prove that : )

SOMEONE has to love Jacob.  SOMEONE.

It is rough though like saying "Hey, you know your ex-girl, must have been hard to see her huh?"

Well, duh?

Well, at least she recognizes it.  Maybe one day someone will recognize that my Shep is Biotic and will stop explaining it to her and she can stop beating her head against the wall.  ;)=]

Found this interview with Mac Walters about the comic back in July 09. I know its a while ago but...

Walters: Actually, our goal right now is to have the story tie to some of the downloadable content for Mass Effect 2. That will probably be coming later next year. I don;t think we have specific dates yet. It's meant to be standalone in the sense that it explores something we don't necessarily see in the game, but it is connected to the game, and in the downloadable content we hope to follow through on some of the events in the comic.

heres the link: http://comics.ign.co.../1005868p1.html

Again I know its old but, might have some insight

Good find. This points to a Liara DLC and that they planned to make one from the beginning so maybe there is still hope?

Morning everyone, are we all feeling a little better now? Can we stop making these slanderous accusations about Liara's character now?

Some of us Liara fans went to a dark, dark place yesterday. I hope we never go there again!

Moring LET.

So...I calmed down and I'm ready to receive the impartial anaylsis of the Redemption4-Liara-Feron situation. Did you guys come up with something (while I was sleeping)?

I posted this earlier today and read your analysis, so I'm pretty much back in the light, so to speak ;-)

Thank you for that :-)

Keeping my fingers and toes crossed while recognizing may have to wait for ME3. I'm in a better modd as well since I decided to go with Casey Hudson's words before ME2 came out. I will expect big reward for loving my lady blue and being faithful!!

I am not angry with Liara at all. Far from it, I sympathise with her, as I still recognise her plight and all the suffering she's had to endure for Shepard, and how she's been tormented by her guilt for handing Shepard, the person she loves, over to the enemy.

No, what I'm angry and annoyed about is the contradictory nature of what is shown at the end of #4. They don't have Liara state her full motives for beginning her hunt against the Shadow Broker, motives which are clearly stated and displayed in ME2, which is causing people to miscontstrue her, and jump to ridiculous conclusions about her character, and make these wild, slanderous assertions. Because of the way it's presented at the end of the comic, it makes it seem like her sole motive for hunting the SB is for Feron, and she seems to have gotten over Shepard. We know from ME2 that this clearly isn't her case, due to the fact that the majority of her suffering and pain has been due to what she's had to do to Shepard, and her love for Shep, which is made obvious in the game.

At the end of the comic, does it show how handing the corpse over to Cerberus is a deeply traumatic and guilt-inducing decision for Liara? Does it show the beginning of her fear that Shepard will hate her for making said decision? Does it touch on Liara being extremely conflicted and morally confused for handing Shepard over to Cerberus, because she couldn't let Shepard go? We get none of that, when all of it was quite clearly the case in ME2, and that because of her love for Shepard these emotions begin to eat away at her.

I'm thoroughly pissed because of the bad scripting and presentation misrepresents Liara's motives, her emotions, her love for Shepard, and it's causing Liara's fans to entertain these wild and baseless theories and accusations, which if you analyse have no basis in fact and completely go against Liara's character. It's slanderous, and almost like people are smearing her, and I don't like it. Liara's completely innocent in all this, we know her motives and love for Shepard from ME2. It's the comics bad scripting and pants writing that has people misconstruing and misunderstanding.

Never angry with the Blue Goddess!! That's impossible!!! Angry with several writers and developers though. Thinking about using my hunting knife on several portions of different anatomy. Didn't get as many deer as I usually do this year so it is still shiny.Image IPB

On a side note... I have a race of blue skinned aliens in my ongoing Sci-fi/Fantasy series called the Vanari. Got the idea from the Asari of course.Image IPB One of the lead characters, a werwolf Prince has just rescued his Inamarno from very bad people and they will begin their love affair soon.

Inamarno is from the ancient languauge that I have created for this werewolf species. It means Lady Blue! lol!

Hello Derumiel!

We're all feeling a little better now, and alot of us have realised that people are misconstruing the status of Liara's love for Shepard, and the true motives as to why she's hunting the Shadow Broker because of the poor and contradictory script and dialogue at the end of the comic. People need to stop making such baseless and wild accusations about Liara based on the poor scriptwriting at the end of the comic, and look at what Liara says and how she acts in ME2 and realise that Liara still loves Shepard deeply, and her hunt for the SB is based on many motives, chiefly her guilt and sorrow for what she had to do to Shepard, the person she loves, and her appreciation for Feron's sacrifice, and not him as a person, whom she clearly doesn't really like.

Anyway, I think people are going to cheer up eventually, and things will get back to normal.

She's a scientist yes. Very brainy and able to take care of herself. So I would have to say... yes to some degree! lol!

Well, I hope everyone is feeling a bit happier today, I am. The fact that there inconsistencies between the comic and game just underline the fact that the comic is pretty poorly scripted. As far as I'm concerned the what is shown in game is true. Still the #4 does reveal that the SB can talk through Collectors, which has pretty interesting implications for the nature of the SB.

Anyway, at least there is nothing stopping BW from talking about Liara DLC now, no comic to spoil. I think they'll announce it this month, simpy because there is no other DLC on the horizon.

Indeed, morrie. I think we've all been so badly caught up in criticising Liara, without a valid reason I might add, that we've all missed this revelation.

Does this mean that the SB is a Reaper then, and was ASSUMING DIRECT CONTROL of that Collector? Perhaps that's why Liara is so determined to end the Shadow Broker, because she knows it's a Reaper, and is a vanguard in a similar vein to Sovereing in that it uses it's power via information to manipulate organics and make it easier for the Reaper fleet to start each cycle of genocide.

Of course, that doesn't explain why Liara would keep this information from Shepard. Maybe to protect him/her, and allow Shepard to focus on the mission against the Collectors as she feels that she can handle the tracking down herself, and that when the time to fight the SB head-on arrives she'll contact Shepard and inform him/her. Liara does actually tell Shepard that she'll let you know if there are any developments or if anything comes up.

I think this would be something Liara would do. She knows Shepards mission is dangerous enough as it is. She doesn't want him/her worrying about another Reaper so close (even the possibility could distract Shepard enough to jeopardise the mission and his/her life), so she keeps it from him/her - for the time being. Also Shepard might be worried about Liara trying to go against a possible Reaper which would increase the danger to Shepard and the mission.
At least imo - that may be the case :-)

So...it's all gonna be fine
