I think they also made her an information broker because being a shy archaeologist wasn't "dark and edgy" enough. So they amped it up Conrad Verner style, living on the edge and so forth.

What do you all think Liara will do after this whole mess is over?  Will she continue on the Information Broker path, possibly gaining political power to rival the power her mother once had?  Or, will she return to her geeky archaeological ways?

We know she enjoys the latter career but do we think there are aspects of the former she also likes?

Nope, she'll go with Shepard as she expresses desire to in ME2, when she regretfully says that she can't come, and she won't continue on in a job she clearly hates.

J, you're not looking at Liara's ME2 scenes properly, or listening to what she's saying. You're letting this pessimism and frustration get the better of you.

No use finding out about the protheans.....they are husks now......arrrr, edi has all the answers if she wants them.
So, she remains on Illium and remains an info broker

I have a feeling something may drive her out of the Information business...

More than that, when does she show regret?  SHe seemed to get pissed at me for asking her to come which is why I never even bother anymore.  I get the info I need and go..

I limit my interaction with Liara in ME 2 to the bare minimum.

I prefer to look at them through my 'glasses of pessimism' and not get my hopes up.

It's something like that. Also, you have to remember that her sole motivation for working as an information broker is to end the Shadow Broker. Nyxeris even tells you that Liara has forgone any further power or influence. As soon as the SB has been ended or Liara is comforted by Shep, she's giving up the information business.

No, your "glasses of pessimism" are causing you to ignore facts and dialogue presented in-game.

I hope so.  In the old dialogue she seems content with taking the crown for herself...

I steer clear of helping her information business.  Fighting a war is dirty enough for my Paragon Shepards without getting steeped in the same business I kill people for.  Liara in ME 2 is a sad, sad case.\\

Oh, do you remeber in the one thread when a dev finally posted and didn't lock it!  It was when I asked for that holiday present, just one screen shot of Ash/Kai/Liara.  The dev was basically like, 'No, we already told you those three aren't going to have big roles so SHUT UP!!'

I hope she doesn't become a squad member.

Personally I rather see her become a major quest arc in ME3. She went from the sweet and naive girl in ME1 to a Information Broker extorting people who is out for revenge on the Shadow Broker in ME2. The path is simple.

Hardly simple.  I think its likely a dark road where they try to turn Liara into a Darth T'Soni character that you have to save.

I had to accept that Liara had become an information broker, because it was the best means to get close to the Shadow Broker. But I'm afraid it's going to send her down a dark path unless something or someone can remind her why she loved archeology in the first place. Just because we know how the Protheans were eliminated doesn't mean there aren't more secrets to be found.

Maybe if ME3 had some ancient artifact that needed to be found, that would be perfect for Liara's archeological knowledge. Not necessarily Prothean, but from some civilization that suffered the Reaper extinction. The Reapers have been doing their thing for a long time. I'm sure some civilizations tried to fight back.

Which is why they scrapped that dialogue, as they realised how retarded and out of character it was for her.

Plus, I'm not sure Liara was the new SB in that cut dialogue. For one, Liara's moral compass and values are still intact, so she's not going to do the abhorrent things the SB does. And two, she seemed to want to only continue as an info broker briefly for the duration of Shepard's current mission to look at his data about the Collectors in order to help Shepard out. Again, once the Collector mission is complete, she has no reason to continue and is back with Shepard.

I have a bad feeling that Tali is now the new default "Im sweet and carefree romance" and they are doing their best to make Liara someone you have to turn from "the dark side".  I don't NEED another information broker, I have the Illusive Man and eventually the rest of the Galactic governments at my side.  If they turn Liara into Saruman I will be pretty disappointed.

My Shepard is screwed up enough, I don't need another headcase...
