That whole plot was actually already done in Star Control 2.
I feel all nostalgic for the Syreen now.

First thing that needs to be solved is how organics can resist indoctrination. Perhaps Liara may discover that when we eventually help her with the Shadow Broker?

To be honest, ME2 gave us absolutely no clues as to how the Reapers may eventually defeated. It's so disappointing, as I thought beforehand that it was a logical step to take in the second game, so that in ME3 it's focused on actually fighting the Reapers.

They need to reactivate the citadel, how can they do that?

This leads me to believe they're going to need an xpac to make a good bridge between ME2 and 3, or some super long introduction in the third one.

And guys, don't worry about me if I get massively disappointed. I can handle it. Sure it'll hurt, alot. But I'll pick myself up, and carry on.
Then continue on with the optimism!

What IF... SERIOUS WILD SPECULATION:
Shadow Broker is some kind renegade reaper or what's more possible representative of the other more evil Dark Reaper faction which try to enter milky way via artofficial worm hole created by imploding Haelstrom sun?
This is all interesting. I would assume there would be Reaper factions just as there are Geth factions, human factions, etc.
Are they going to go this route? I don't know...they'll probably keep it simple. Bunch o' reapers want you dead, baaaah!!!!

Will do! I prefer to look at the positive with everything regarding Liara, and do try to base my optimism on evidence and facts presented in game.
Very confident we'll have the BBG at our side again soon!

Sure they did, Rachni, Heritcs redone, Quarian front (Trial blah blah) anyway...
Here's another thought, if that 37 million year old derlict could still indoctrinate folks, why can't all or any of Sovereign's pieces do the same? has to be built into their "skins" if a dead one can still affect folks after all that time.
Reapers win! we all croak so lets just go cuddle Liara for the remainder of our time

Yeah I think the pieces of Sovereign on the Citadel can indoctrinate people still. I think Captain Anderson may be subliminally affected. He was acting a little odd in ME2, sending Ashley/Kaidan to spy on you and all. I wouldn't be surprised if they turned him into a villain in ME3.Unata wrote...

That was the picture I used in my last sig we're using LET. Once you look for it now it will be blatantly obvious (if it wasn't already before).

Here's what happens in ME3, Liara discovers that everyone on the Citadel is getting indoctrinated, tells Shepard, Shepard says screw this, collects Liara, gives Normandy 2 crew choice of staying or coming then with Liara in arms the fly off to find a new galaxy to live in

Oooh, speaking of commissioned pics...
I commissioned this picture, in collaboration with ratzerman, featuring his Shepard Annika and Liara. It's a touching moment, obviously set some time after ME3, of Liara pregnant with Annika's child, and Annika decides to get down on one near, and listen to their child's heartbeat. Both myself and ratz love it.

I don't know... the Reapers are still machines, I'd think they would have to be powered up to give off any kind of effect. The Derelict Reaper, while it did appear to be damaged, was still hooked up to it's power source, which was why it could still generate a mass effect field and indoctrinate the Cerberus scientists who tried to study it.Sakhalin wrote...

Sovereign was dismantled and in pieces, or so they say. I'm inclined to believe that it was taken apart, simply because it would be too big to simply cart off somewhere. If nobody deactivated Sovereign, and a chunk of it was still hooked up to the power source when it was dismantled, and that piece was taken by somebody, then I could maybe see that crew getting indoctrinated. But if somebody just picks up one of Sovereign's leg-like pieces, I don't see that doing any harm.
We also don't know if there is any sort of Reaper Brain on board, so even being connected to the power source may not be enough. It might still need to be connected to a mainframe or something brainlike like that. It could just be the equivalent of a braindead Reaper.
