There are plenty of other strong motivators besides love. People do things for all sorts of reasons. I'm actually glad that Liara has some goals and things that are important to her that aren't dictated by or ran past Shepard for approval. She's my lover and partner, not my hunchbacked henchman.

Thanks.  I'm half tempted to snip it and make that the prologue, but it's a little short, and it wouldn't be a one-shot then, right?

Still, I just realized I gave away my dig at the red eyes ... but in my mind, they're non-canon!  Just like my other drabble has four to six people in the squad at any time they're not Mako-dependent and may have Jack in a pressure suit decorated to be like her tats!  Anything that breaks immersion gets screwed with, because THAT, is how I roll!

It's not implied though! And what you accuse Liara of doing or feeling is nothing more than your own projection, and has no evidence to support it. Liara even opens up in ME2 about her love and guilt for Shepard, and how she's done everything because of her devotion to him/her. That's what her motives are. It's as clear as day. It's clear that she still deeply loves and cares about Shepard, wants to go with him/her as she states, but she can't because we're prevented from comforting her. Plus, again when is it ever stated that the reason she wants to learn Feron's fate is anything more than appreciation of his sacrifice? It's not because of the person himself.

Just to be sure, by the way, you're talking at sc again, right?  PLEASE at least do an @sc -- and sc, please do an @LET or @les?  Or, maybe, take it to IMs?

So let this be a lesson to you, even though ign doesn't star out the swears in your ME2/ Liara based raging tirades on their articles, you will get banned for it...for a few hours? Totally worth it lol. XD

I'm actually inspired, tell you the truth, by the aforementioned KOTOR Parody by, I'm pretty sure, Green Dragon, on the apparently-defunct kotorfanmedia.com.  Something about when you pick up Zaalbaar, and ... carp, I forgot the protagonist's name except that he's got Skywalker as a last name -- he says "Now in the game, we have to send one of you two back to the apartment, but ... that's stupid" or the like.  (He makes millions of meta comments.  It's part of the charm.  Also he romances Juhani even though that should be impossible.  I was gonna do a femExile tribute/copy where she recruits and romances the Handmaiden in response... but Mass Effect got in the way, and I think the world is ... probably lucky, considering my writing style.)

That's kind of funny. I love parodies, I should check it out.  The Juhani romance just adds to it.

Sadly, it's a dead link now, I'm trying to figure out how to search for something so generically titled with any success... OR find the money to resurrect the site by myself for a day to just copy all 20 parts down, unless someone else has it somewhere.

I'm being a pessimist about this whole thing, I'll own up to that, and it doesn't help I'm in a dark place from the comic, and from listing to the Cowboy Bebop soundtrack all day long, but it's better to expect the worst, only to be proven wrong. It's all subjective, how you view ME2 at this point. I'm not gonna argue, nor was that my point. I'm not alone in my thoughts or feelings, so I'm not crazy, I know that much. I hope I'm wrong though.

I will say, one more time, that's not Liara, it's her writers. They are doing this, the comic did this, I never once blamed her character, as this is all out of character for her, from what we know in the first game. But they write her, and they can say she changed in two years, and we'd have to accept it. Open your eyes to that fact, and my quest is over.

I put out the theory but that doesn't mean I believe it, like it, or wish it so. Not at all, I want the opposite. Prove my theory wrong without subjectives, and I'll be happy. In fact, that's what I want you to do. I need someone to do that. I posted my own thoughts to disprove it, but that was mostly ignored thus far.
