Well, DA... as great as it is, it could have been much better as well. Remember it was in development long before EA became involved. But even so, their influence in the later stages is all too obvious. Awakening, now fully developed with EA in command, lacks any romance content. They even cut out some letters from the old LIs that were already written.
Whether that is EA policy for BioWare games from now on, remains to be seen. The reasons in the end don't matter, maybe they just think it's a waste of resources. ME 3 will make clear where they stand with this issue.
But as I said, the romances are only one of the major complaints I have with ME 2. You are correct, they are unfortunately targeting the shooter fans and casual gamers, which - besides saving development time - has to be the main reason for dumbing down this game so much. I can't blame them, as it's obviously a commercial success. It's just sad because they are (were?) the last developer to make proper games. At least to my definition of "proper".
Well, you have to understand EA's perspective on DA. The game was in development FOREVER and probably was rife with problems. Awakenings wasn't done very well, to be honest. I can't even complete it as one of the critical characters didn't trigger right and now I can ever have her join unless a patch comes out. I would reserve judgement on DA until the magic date of 2/1/2011. If whatever that surprise is sucks, then yeah, its EA.
There is always Square-Enix for your RPG needs. Hope you like long cutscenes...

Imagine if all the remaining true RPG companies merged. A Bioware-Square-Enix and whoever else alliance. You'd have the stories of Bioware with the overdramatic cut scenes and hilarious VO dialogue of Square. Imagine Liara displayed in anime style and Shepard would be a darker and more brooding character. A flowing cape of some kind, fluttering as he/she stands over a major city. One person...against the world.
Coming in 2012.

Hope folks will watch and comment. Most of the pics are screen captures I got, some are wallpapers other people made. Hope you don't mind!! It's kind of blurry but they said it might clear up once it's done processing. Oh well.

Not so much if I can't influence them, and I like the "Western" style much more. But as long as they refuse to release their games for PC, it's not an option anyway.

I didnt buy Awakening myself but from what I saw playing it at a friends house,I have to say it was clearly thrown out for quick profit nothing else,I guess you could just say its weak.
On Square-Enix games, well I havent played a Final Fantasy since seven, though I watched my girlfriend playing the beginning of FFXIII,but I think it lacks exposition,I just sat there and wondered, wtf was happening, who are these people, why does this city get blown up etc.

Bethesda is God at making the "explore everywhere games", well, at least until Oblivion (the mod content made up for a lot of that though). Morrowind had really a basic story that wasn't all that great, but the sheer amount of lore, books, treasure, caves, and places to get lost was overwhelmingly good. I know TES V is in the works, so I am interested to see what they will do with it.
They also reserved the web address of "www.elderscrollsonline.com". That tells me they might end up trying to MMO it, which wouldn't be that great of a move. I'd rather have a TES V.

I think Bethesda is good at making a big world but it often feels quite empty, also they dont do romances and memorable characters well I cannot think of one,I doubt they could do such things if their life was depending on it

The best thing about Bethesda games is the toolset. If only ME 2 had this, there would soon be nothing to complain about anymore.

One thing is for sure is that we are going to see ALOT of DLC for all EA games. They have fallen in love with the idea and want DLC for ALL of their franchises pretty much. That is good and bad, of course. If its plot related and interesting, its good. If its stuff like $2 for a Conrad Verner plushie in your room (which that sort of content is inevitable), thats different. I imagine we may get some for the Captains Quarters to decorate ala the Sims. Maybe each LI will have different decorations for the room should they move in or be there.
If you romance Jack, just imagine what the quarters will look like..
Well I would have nothing against a few more Trophies like Shepards old helmet as long as they are tied to quests, but I think a Sims like decoration would go to far,als I wonder if they may open up a barbershop on the citadell at some point:P

Fallout 3 was a master piece. Even the story is in my opinion very good, it only lacks interaction with NPCs, same with every Bethesda game. Maybe Obsidian will put that in New Vegas, they have the experience after all.

Like any human medium that involves entertainment, it would inevitably turn towards the sexual. Oblivion had dozens of nude/sex/hentai mods that were suprisingly detailed. Just imagine such in the ME world. There would be nothing sacred left...

Well the main plot was ok I guess,at least after they released Broken Steel, but the characters failed mostly, though I agree some had potential like that girl from the Vault,Amata I think was her name, but they really screw you with that one and I better dont start with the followers

Yeah, that would be sweet. We could collaborate and write our own Liara DLC to fix it.

Eh, Bethesda games were never about characters really. Its all about the journey.
Charon wasn't bad, though sometimes he'd get lost and die miles from where I left him.

So what? The good thing about it is that everyone can decide what they want to install and see in their game, and what not. I have not seen a media campaign against any Bethesda game because of these possibilities. There was some controversy about the drugs in the vanilla game, so they were renamed. So mods were created that corrected the "mistake". Players who want the content can have it, but no one can blame Bethesda. Win-win.
