ME1 Liara would. ME2 Liara, I still don't know what's going on. At least we got a tweet on the upcoming DLC, maybe we might get some more insight into her huge change in character in that. I doubt we'll see LI content, but something that can explain this better than the comics would be nice.

I would exchange Liara romance content in DLC for a chance to have her character development explained.  I would hope any Liara DLC would at least do that.  If they want to save the lovey-dovey stuff until ME3, that's fine.  Liara might need some time to herself in order to heal after the whole SB ordeal.  Shepard might have to be a bit patient with her as far as romance goes.

I sort of disagree with the last part of your comment. I believe that time by herself is the last thing she needs, and Shepard needs to tell Liara all the things she really needs to say and that Liara needs to hear. As a girl who has been around the block a few times, I have, at times, needed to hear someone tell me what I only subconciousely  knew I needed to hear. Sometimes our minds get in the way of our hearts, and the one person we trust and love is the only one that can reach beyond the mind and speak directly to the heart. This is where Shepard is at. I also believe that Shepard is very much hurting also, but has the Collector threat to deal with and take her mind off of the sorrowful situation that Liara is in. At least thats my take on it, and I am happy with it.

@Sunnie    So you've been around the block a few times, can you take my dog with you, I'm tired of walking him.....he's a good boy. Loves women and has a blue toy we call Liara, it's his favorite.

@ subject of Shepard/Liara relationship

I feel, for what it's worth...that unless one of them says to the other, that it is over, then it's not...no matter how questionable the status is. We haven't been allowed to talk about it, thus we might as well figure there is still a relationship there.

"Well, Shepard was dead for two years!' Yea, but dead people normally stay dead...so this would be a special case. Liara has clearly got alot on her mind, and has been busy for the last two years. However just because she can't come with you, doesn't mean she lost her love for Shepard. She shows signs to the contrary in fact. Yes there are those little hints that bug the crap out of me, with...he who's name shall not be spoken...but I can get over that...I trust Liara. Only time will tell if my trust was misplaced or not.

Lots of couples the world over, have things that keep them apart. And they stay faithful and make it work, because they love each other. Throughout history epic love stories of lovers parted, longing day after day for each other, only to be reunited and happy again, have been told. Not everything has to be a damn tragedy...I wish writers would remember that...happy doesn't have to be boring.

Liara has a job to do...she needs to do this...her reasons aren't perfectly clear...but if Shepard loves Liara, then she has to let Liara do this. Liara in turn, knows Shepard has a job to do, and so lets Shepard walk out the door on Illium. If I know Liara at all...she broke down in tears after seeing the Normandy take off...wishing she had said something more, wishing she had gone with Shepard...but they both have a duty to do.

As for he who's name shall not be spoken...he was a tool...something Liara could focus on, other then all the emotions that must be going thru her, other then dealing with the loss of Shepard and thinking about Shepard coming back, and in what state. Also what Shepard will think and feel. he who's name shall not be spoken has been locked away somewhere or is dead now.

Liara fears what Shepard will think of her...she wants "Redemption"...to prove herself to Shepard...she wants to atone for what she saw as a failure...first she left Shepard to die on the Normandy...then she nearly lost Shepard to the Shadow Broker and Collectors...she then let *grumbles* be lost to save the body of Shepard...then she gave that body to Cerberus...Liara has to feel really bad about herself right now...understandable with everything she has been thru. Her mental state is a mess.

While in our minds, Liara has no need to worry, and we simply want her back...because she did nothing wrong. If anything Shepard and Joker are to blame for all this...but she doesn't know that. And we aren't allowed to help her see that, and let her know we love her, and will always stick by her no matter what. Liara wants to prove to Shepard that she isn't a bad person.

That's why we are given what we are, and that's why I love Liara, and why I'm staying faithful to her, till the bitter end. The writers can still screw this up...or they can turn it around and give us something beautiful...I'm still the same pessimist...and I've lost most of my faith...but they haven't ripped out my heart and stomped on it...yet...

I see, though they might write it as I mentioned just to hold off the romance until ME3.

Liara:  I'm sorry, Shepard, I still do care for you but I just need some time to think about this...about us.

Shepard:  :crying:

About Shepard hurting, I agree with that.  Mine was.  She already had emotional issues and the events of ME2 only added to that.  Talk about being distracted for the mission, my Shepard definitely was (i.e., Liara) and had no chance to resolve this like the others before leaving for the Omega 4 relay and potentially dying.   I think this hindered her ability to lead the mission (and people died...:o).   I was going to get the 'No one left behind' ending for my main Shepard but I don't think I'll do this anymore, for role-playing purposes.

The new crew sure are "good" friends...you help them with all their problems...and not one of them cares what Shepard is dealing with...

"Hey Shepard...so what was it like being spaced and coming back as a zombie?" - Nope
"Hey Shepard...we all know Joker is why you died, want us to all pray pranks on him?" - Nope
"Hey Shepard...heard about what happened on Illium...I'm sorry, wanna talk about it?" - Nope

If somebody just cared about Shepard, maybe the suicide mission would have went better...

Ya, unfortunately, Shepard never has any of her needs addressed, at all, ever. Oh did I mention not at all, or never? Or did I say nada, nil, or go to hell Shepard? /uploads_user/1070000/1069890/27989.gif

Yeah, that has been discussed before. Even if the writers for whatever (stupid) reason want / have to cancel the romance, then it's still simply a matter of course to discuss it in game. It would be a very disappointing and completely unnecessary step, but at least we would know what's going on. Preventing Shepard and Liara from discussing their feelings at all, is just not acceptable from any angle. Same goes for Ashley and Kaidan, you can't discuss with them either. But at least there's some sort of acknowledgement that the romance existed and possibly still exists. I can't believe that the testers never played the first game, they had to notice this oversight. Which together with the complete silence from the developers on the matter, means it's probably deliberate.

I guess you can say Kelly was the only one that did. They never said what she and Shepard talked about. Since they left it up to us...I'm going to say they talked about Liara. Thus the reason why she is my only friend right now.

Did you notice that almost all the missions had something to do with family...think if your Shepard is one of the two that doesn't have a family...and no one...no one...cares to say anything to Shepard...../../../../uploads_user/1070000/1069890/28024.gif
