Well, implants can be replaced, new tissues can be grown and implanted...I mean Shepard was dead, and now is alive again...just fix what goes bad as it fails. There will reach a point where the nervous system and brain will go...I'm not so sure that can be fixed as easily...I don't think the ME world is that advanced yet...not even the Geth, maybe the Reapers...but I wouldn't trust using their tech for anything. Although, they could clone the brain and nervous system and then have an Asari transfer "Shepard" to the new one, once it's implanted. Could live forever like that. But would you still be the same person then? That's as big a metaphysical question as is, is Shepard still Shepard now?
It seems clear to me, that they used alot of nanotechnology to rebuild Shepard, and when you work at that level, you can have millions of little bots running around inside you all the time, fixing cells as they break down and keeping them alive.
I doubt you can do the whole cloning tissue, replacing implants routine till the end of time, everything has its limits I guess,as for the brain wasnt there something in the Cerberus news about some president storing his memory in a VI or something cant remember exactly what it was, also I'm not sure if Asari can really transfer a whole personallity.
Also if my supsicions are right and Cerberus used reaper tech to revive Shepard,s/he might live forever at least in theory, given how careless Cerberus is with that stuff and the whole renegade "Sith Lord" look Shepard can get that might be how it was done,at least I dont buy that standart issue implants do that kind of stuff or revive people

Just my opinion but maybe the reason Liara is so distant when you meet her on Illium is because she is afraid if Shepard is all there. I know that if Cerberus told me they were going to bring my lover back to life, I would be terrified. What if something goes wrong? Then when I would finally see my lover, it would be like looking at a ghost. The last time Liara saw Shepard, he/she was only "meat and tubes", right? I think it would be scary to see the life back in Shepard's eyes but who knows...
That explains her being apprehensive about whether Shepard is really Shepard; but it doesn't explain her threatening to flay people alive with her mind if they don't pay her their bills. There's no logical reason why anything that happened to her could turn a woman who spent 100 years as a nerdy and cute archeologist into a ruthless thug in the span of two years.
Regardless when fans of a character can spend so much time throwing out a million interpretations of what possible motivation a character could have its a clear indication of poor writing. Interpretation and nuance is one thing, complete and total incomprehensibility is something else.

Yes, it is understandable for Liara to be scared and distant, because she doesn't really know what Shepard is now. We see her happy and glad to see Shepard, she rushes over and kisses, and then I think it hits her..."Who am I kissing right now?" So she backs away.

I can see Liara getting ruthless on occasion to try and save Shepard as she does in the comics; but having her threaten to flay someone alive simply because he didn't pay his bill as they did in ME2 isn't ruthlessness for a greater good or highly personal cause, its just straight up thuggery and even if the events of the comics did harden her its still completely out of character and a real slap to the face of anyone who liked her character.
Well, you can look at it from the point of view...that Liara knows Shepard just landed on Illium...she is nervous about seeing her/him again...and is waiting for the reunion moment...then she gets some deadbeat on the link and is pissed off he is distracting her from Shepard. Notice she's at the window and not her desk...She was looking out the window I bet, watching for Shepard. So this jerk won't pay and she wants to get rid of him...then Shepard just walks in at the wrong moment.
I don't let that scene bother me too much. There are far worse things to focus on...besides, even if Liara is a little evil now...what's so wrong with that? Evil can be sexy, and Liara is sexy...so an Evil Liara that loves Shepard...super sexy to me.

I have been updating my story about the ME 1 relationship between Shepard and Liara, and trying MY best to explain some of the darkening of the asari's spirits and perhaps where some of her newfound aggressiveness in pursuit of vengeance comes from.

Chapter 11 was just uploaded.
There will be blood.
Also let me know what you think.

If you do her missions and choose the right dialgue options, if only for a second you get to see the old (real) Liara. But then shes back to the dark Liara.

Then why does she act surprised when you stroll into her office and for that matter why would someone who she's threatening to kill for not paying be calling her? She obviously made that call.
If Bioware wants to introduce an evil and sexy character then they should create one, not take the most virtuous character in ME1 and make her go bat**** crazy for no apparent reason.

The fact we are confused about who is the real Liara maybe points to the fact she doesn't even know herself. Remember, she is only 108. I am sure Aria didn't start out as a hard ass herself...

I helped her put down her mother like a rabid animal in ME1 and that didn't drive her nuts.

He wasn't happy with the information, and so I'd figure he called and said something along the lines of... "I'm not paying for what you sent me...blah blah.." Could of been..."Unless you do X or give me Y." And Liara didn't want to deal with that kind of a conversation at the moment, so she get rid him as quickly as she could. Yes I know it requires a bit of reaching.
As for her look...I think it was more happy then surprised. But yes a little surprised, because she thought she had more time, and/or because...come on...Shepard has been gone for two years...you don't be surprised when seeing someone after that long? She could be happy surprised to see that Shepard still looks like Shepard, she had no idea what Cerberus would do to the body and how it would look.

You need to have a PC version of dragon age and then modify the image file it provides for your character to whatever you want your avatar to be and then choose your dragon age portrait as your avatar. If you want more details I'd make a topic on the Dragon Age forums.

Sure I doubt Aria started out the way she is now,but you have to admit Liara goes quite fast from socialy ackward scientist, that spent half of her life on digsites to ruthless crimelord quite fast

You can use the Dragon Age Create your own character thing you can download from these forums, although I'm not sure exactly how that works. I just borrowed DA:O PC edition from a friend.
