What kind of emails do you get? I hear you get one from a lot of people in ME1, I didnt get many though.
And yeah the auto save is very infrequent. I just started to save constantly.
Playing Import? I got emails from every person I did a side mission
with it seems. Thus 30 or 40 emails.
Playing Default? Zero, except from people you helped in MS2. Even though you're playing Paragon, no Conrad, no Gianna, no Shiala, no Fist, no Helena, no Wrex, no past relationship, no rachni, Nassana doesn't know you, no discounts from some people, everyone doesn't trusts you (including Tali), Anderson isn't on the council, and you killed the original Council "not out of spite, but out of opportunity." It's like being in the Twlight Zone.

I tried the default run because I wanted a playthrough where the choices and decisions made were completely different from any of my playthroughs. Also, I thought I'd be interesting after I heard John Davison talk about playing it, to see the story "Bioware" wanted new players to play. But in the end, playing it felt like I was "playing a character" that made choices I had no control over, and a history that wasn't mine. It didn't feel like I was playing "me" or my character. More like I possessed someone. The game also felt stripped of content, because default never did side missions. It was so lonely and depressing. I actually missed the emails.
As for the auto save. I'm not used to saving all the time, unless I'm playing Resident Evil, Silent Hill, or Final Fantasy, where a save spot means "should save now unless you don't think you need to." With Mass Effect 1, one mistake sometimes means replaying 30 minutes or more.
And yeah the auto save is very infrequent. I just started to save constantly.
Practicly everyone who you get in 'touch" in ME 1 send you an e-mail if you help them solve thier problems OR hate e-mail from Toombs if you let him alive.
Heck once i get e-mail from Talitha that girl from Normandy docking bay (colonist background) where she says that her recovery going pretty well.
Even Dr Mitchel and Emili Wong send you mails

Plus, go to the Micah system in the Vallhallan Threshold, and scan the three hidden planets, and you'll have enough minerals to upgrade everything.
Whoa, I've never heard of that. Is that real or are you just pulling my leg?
If you're playing Rich level 60 import, and scan those planets, then yes, you get enough to never have to scan again from what I remember. You'll also see that system in some guides as "Easy Materials" solution. There's also another "Rich" system, but I don't remember. But the hint of "gold mine" systems is to find planets in asteroid fields.

There's a precedent though. MGS is Konami's flagship series, it's main cash cow. Guns of the Patriots was the conclusion of Solid Snake's story, and really did require that you play the previous games in order to understand just what's going on.
MGS4 was one of 2008's highest grossing games. It sold fantastically well. ME should follow the same formula. It'll sell well, regardless of whether a certain portion of players haven't played the previous titles. Don't understand what's going on? Tough. It's their responsibility to go back and play the originals. It's not hard, they're all on the same system after all.
From what I remember, Konami didn't consider MGS4 a huge success, because it was a slow seller. It didn't make the top ten charts for long, and took a very long time to earn the amount they spent on it. Lots of people were surprised it didn't go multi-platform because of that (probably because Kajima wouldn't allow it out of honor to Sony).
Anyways, it's still risky to make an expensive series that only the fans can get into, and too much of a gamble. Is it more honorable for them to take huge risks? Yes. But sometimes it doesn't pay off. However, I do prefer and respect that, even though you can play default, you're experience is more rewarding if you played Mass Effect 1 (if you played default, you'd know what I mean).

I know around February, BW said that they would make an announcment in March for new DLC, and in March revealed the Hammerhead and Kasumi DLC. So maybe they will do the same, and hopefully soon say when they play to unveil new DLC.
I don't think we'll hear anything for at least 3 months. The DLC team just finished Kasumi and Hammerhead 2 to 3 months ago, and probably won't reveal the Liara and Krogan DMZ DLC mission till they're close to being finished.

So, still no news of Liara's DLC. I really hope we'll hear something soon, I'm desperate for more Liara.
Well, it's Sunday. Don't expect announcements on weekend unless there is a game conference somewhere. But if there is going to be a DLC soon, (and hopefully it will be the Liara one), I don't think that it will take too long for them to announce.

Yeah, the DLC pipeline has all but dried up. We know they're working on something, judging by Christina Norman's Twitter a few days ago. Hopefully that's Liara's DLC, and we'll hear something soon.
What did she Twitter?

I love working on Mass Effect 2 DLC because adding in new functionality to a shipped game requires a lot of creativity!
Hopefully that's the Liara DLC she's referring to!
TMA, Guns of the Patriots was a commercial success. Take a look:

She mentioned that working on Mass Effect 2 DLC requires a lot of creativity. Unfortunately, if you try to extract further information from her, she will go to ground and we will lose sight of the Shadow Broker DLC for good.Somebody1003 wrote...

Yeah, I was just being extrmemly hopeful regarding hearing something today, Larask. Heh.
I'm hoping that we'll hear something midweek, next week. On Wednesday, it will have been 2 weeks since Redemption's conclusion, so surely we will hear something about Liara soon.

Don't get your hopes up, I should have re-wrote it as "DLC mission that starts on Tuchanka" then goes somewhere else in the new solar system in the Krogan DMZ. The one that they added after you download Kasumi or Hammerhead. Most likely the planet with the 5 strange little moons surrounding it. I'm only guessing you'll get the mission from Wrex or Wreav.
And on MGS4 sales. Guess you're right. My mistake. Though I'm sure I read somewhere that Konami still wanted more sales then what they got, and were saying that that was why they wanted to port it to 360 one day, despite what Kajima thinks.
