God, Conrad Verner was more loving and accepting than Liara came off. Actually, sadly enough, he was more excited than most everyone else in the entire GAME at Shepard's return...
The thing is though, it's not just limited to Liara in terms of making it appear that the characters are apathetic in terms of Shepard's current mission. I've seen people say about how friendly and open Wrex is, but aside from the initial "Shepard! My friend!" and the handshake, it's straight down the business with him. Wrex brushes you off, doesn't ask about the wellbeing of his former comrade or the status of the mission, and just talks endlessly about the current krogan situation. Likewise with Anderson. Why wouldn't he ask his protege about his/her wellbeing? About Shepard's chances for survival? All three of these characters should show concern for Shepard's wellbeing, as they obviously do still care. It's just an awful oversight on the writer's part.
I agree. It's really sad that the only one that asks how "you" are feeling after being brought back is Jacob (if you romance him), and you never hear their thoughts and feelings on you being dead for 2 years. It's a question I wish Tali, Garrus, Ash/Kaidan, Anderson, Wrex, and Liara asked. But no, it's "You're alive? You're working for Cerberus?" then straight to business with most of them.

Shep was been degraded into a tool to be used in the game, nothing more. There seems to be a total lack of emotion from Shep about what he/she has been through and the fact that he/she is forced to work for Cerberus (don't get me started on the sole survivor background). I found the lack of concern from Shep as well as the previous squadmates and other major characters from ME1 for Sheps emotional wellbeing after the Lazarus Project rather jarring and a definite missed opportunity.

That's what happens though when all of the focus is put on the shooter gameplay. The writing for the story and characters suffers as a result.
It's why I hope that during a possible scene in Liara's DLC in which she and Shepard open their hearts to each other, Shepard's death, the fact that he/she as been gone for 2 years and the implications and effects on their relationship is brought up, along with Liara obviously opening her heart about her guilt, her pain, her suffering and how she's done everything because of her love for Shepard.

I think it's in character for Wrex not to care much about the other crew members. He minds his own business. I was surprised that he even seemed that happy to see Shepard. But of course he has a lot of respect for Shepard. It certainly was nice to see someone who cared. Apart from Conrad and Kelly, no one else seems to. Maybe Shiala and Gianna. But none of the main characters. And you're completely right, Shepard too feels like a robot most of the time. It's just a lot of bad writing in this game, surprising as it is with BioWare's reputation.

I've come across another article about the Liara DLC, this one is on a French language gaming website. I quickly put it through Google translator, and this is the result.
As you can see, the writer is expressing interest and enthusiasm in seeing more Liara in a DLC. It's very heartening to see the demand for Liara increasing. Conform something, BW, please! We want more Liara!

I can just imagine the decision (the one to be imported to ME3) for the Liara DLC...
Shadowbroker: I can give you the information on the collectors/reapers/both, if you let me live and let me continue to be the most important information broker. I will also make it public that i'm dead and thus Liara can leave with you on your mission.
Shepard: 1. No! I can't do that to Liara after two years of her life hunting you!
2. Alright, I accept your offer.
3. I accept, and I don't care if you kill Liara at al / I accept, but I want a hugeload of credits too.

One option that I hope is there is that we have the ability to convince Liara that killing the Shadow Broker isn't going to ease her of her pain, and make her happy again. I want to tell Liara that I can help her through this emotional torment, and that we can work together to help her find happiness together. Help ease Liara of her guilt and emotional torment through comforting and consoling her, and convincing her not to off the Shadow Broker.
The SB still needs to answer for his crimes, though. So I hope we can take him in so that he can stand trial in front of the Citadel Council. At least Liara will be happy, though, and her sorrow and guilt eased. She can then be with the person she loves once more.

I just hope there isn't an option to kill Liara in the DLC. If so, I will toss my copy of ME2 in the garbage and be through with the series for good.

Not a chance. That would render the whole "We're saving Liara for ME3" reason as void. Liara will survive until ME3. Guaranteed.

I don't want to get news of the Liara DLC for my birthday, considering that my birthday is in June. I can't wait that long for more Liara! I want her now!!
