With Liara though, they have much more of an obligation to have proper voice acting featured, and get Ali, Mark and Jennifer back into the studio as Liara is a major character in the trilogy, something that obviously isn't the case with Zaeed and Kasumi. Also, Liara's current character arc could have major ramifications for the overall ME universe and story, and this would be reflected in her DLC. There's a far greater justification and evidence for them to spend far more development time and attention on Liara's DLC, compared to that of Zaeed and Kasumi.

Well, Zaeed and Kasumi aren't even going to be around much in ME3 and aren't that important to the plot.  They are just cute little additions (well, Kasumi is at least...I wouldn't call Zaeed 'cute').

I want the expansion to bring back all the important characters from ME1:  Liara, Ashley, Kaidan.  I want it to set up their role for ME3 and also tie up some of the major plot threads from ME2.   I do hope they take their time with it and if I have to wait awhile that's fine...it would be worth it.

Sorry, I probably did miss it.

I am going to seperate out the ME 2 experience into its own story, based off course on what is canon.  It's going to be rough to write an ME 2 focused Liara romance because you can condense down the entire time you interact with her to basically 3-5 minutes tops (less if you keep pressing the skip button!).  It will focus on the feelings that both Shepard and Liara have after seeing each other after so long especially in light of the events that happend in the previous story.

I get a lot of inspiration from other sources and I have a particular film and character who reacts to lost romance in a way that Shepard likely will.

Depending on when the Liara DLC is announced, I probably will have time to write something hypothetical and for my own amusement.  This will be a short story apart from any previous efforts that will still deal with the same Shepard...

For all the filling in the blanks that fan fiction writers do, we should get free swag from Bioware Image IPB

Lost romance? From Shepard's perspective? :crying: Please don't tell me Liara is going to do something she'll regret, and inadvertedly push Shepard away! As long as the story ends well, and Shepard and Liara are happy together...

Like I said before, your Shep/Liara stories are alot better than what we're being given in ME2. How would you go about applying to join BW's group of writers? :D

I just don't see it happen in a DLC. Also, what would it cost? Apparently for them 7 bucks is a fair price for one "half" crew member (no recruitment mission, no dialogue). By that math, you'd have to charge 20+ bucks for a Liara DLC that even comes close to what we would like to see. Mind you, I'm not talking about something unreasonable. But it would simply have to last 3 hours or so, and at least half an hour of that should be dialogue and cutscenes. Everything less can't possibly contain a proper continuation of her story and romance.

But how many people would be willing to pay that price? Isn't it easier to get the same amount of money from them through several shorter and cheaper to produce DLCs, each one costing "not more than a meal at McDonald's", as the DLC defenders are always so keen on pointing out?

And how many players are interested in content prominently featuring that strange Asari from Illium anyway? To attract the casual gamers, you have to provide stuff to shoot and "cool" new items. Meaningful content is not something to waste time on developing, that's the lesson learned so far. That they can do it has been proven with their very first DLC (BdtS), so the conclusion has to be that they don't want to. I don't see that approach changing, unfortunately. Only if, as said, it had been developed by the original team during the main game, or is done via a full-price expansion.

What about the possibility that we'll get the Liara DLC, in which she's obviously heavily featured, plus Liara will also play a prominent role in the expansion that ties into ME3, along with getting the Alliance and Council back on your side, and also getting Ashley and Kaidan back in the squad, obviously along with Liara?

They don't have to be mutually exclusive, Liara could be featured in both!

bjd, the thing is though is that the nature of Liara's character and story, and importance to the trilogy dictates that she's got to have a deep, substantial, emotional DLC with romance featured. In the other DLC released so far have they been obligated to go any deeper.

Zaeed and Kasumi are just additional, optional squadmates. You get their loyalty missions, with Kasumi's being somewhat more substantial, and a new squadmate for combat. The Hammerhead is just a tank, you can't expect anything deep with that. The Normandy Crash Site is exactly what it says on the tin.

Liara though, her current character arc, her importance to the trilogy's story, her connection to Shepard, the way she's been written in terms of her emotions and how she's acting out of love for Shepard, it's all something alot deeper than the rest of the DLC. It has to be more substantial, that's the nature of Liara's character and story.

I tell you, at this stage I would be utterly shocked if this almost completely hypothetical "Liara DLC" would feature more than a few minor passing references to the romance. We havent even got it confirmed that there is any DLC featuring Liara. Once we get that, maybe I could entertain the idea of it mentioning the romance, but otherwise I expect it will just be an excuse for more shooting ranges for players to trawl through from cover to cover.

That, and they botched it the first time around and need to correct it.

There are files in the PC version marked with "liara_dlc_leadin", plus when Redemption was announced they said that it's story would tie-in to DLC being produced for ME2. As Liara is obviously the protagonist of the comic, it makes sense that it would be Liara's DLC.

Thats it, all we have at the moment are three things potentially maybe four.

On the dev side, Christina Norman twittered about working on DLC.

There was another dev, some guy called Fernando, said something about the end of april. However, Im pretty sure that guy is DAO, so its probably about that, not ME2.

Other than that, there are some files listed, just like Zaeed, Kasumi and Normandy crash site, in the game that some people have found. Thats the strongest evidence.

Other than that, and few people running articles talking about the near baseless speculation, we havent got anything.

Hopefully that Liara dialogue is just scrap, because it bears too many similarities to the current cameo, and basically sucks even more ("I cant join you Shepard, Im reading").

Until Bioware actually says "yes, we are working on DLC that will feature Liara heavily" Id advise everyone to keep their hopes in check. Even if they do announce it, Id advise everyone to continue to do the same. Its still got to cater for all the folks who didnt romance Liara, and if DAO Awakening is anything to go by, they are that big on variable content in DLC.

Maybe the writers would even agree with you in principle, but that doesn't mean it's ever going to happen. If anything dictates anything, it's the money. One two hour DLC, or two one hour DLCs? Which character to feature? How much shooting and how many minutes of dialogue allowed by how many different voice actors? All dictated by people with charts that tell them which one makes the most money. (Maybe I'm exaggerating a bit, but it is like that.)

The Normandy Crash Site is exactly what it says on the tin.

Is the best example. Nice to look at, but no meaningful content to speak of. Even though that moment in the game could easily have been a highlight. The flashbacks are nice, but 90% of the mission are spent with mindless searching, and off you go. Without being able to deliver the dog tags personally, of course.

But... we've been through this before, and I don't want to crush your hopes. I'm of course hopeful as well and would like to be proven wrong!

I understand what you're trying to say, bjd. I just think that it's almost an obligation that Liara's content will be deep and substantial.

I look at Kasumi's DLC, and the content it featured, and I see that as evidence that they're stepping in the right direction. I thought it was quite deep, intricate, enjoyable, and surprisingly emotive. If they can accomplish that with a relatively minor character as Kasumi, how much work are they going to put into Liara, and her DLC and the dialogue, romance and scenes within? Particularly if alot of it was developed concurrently with the rest of the game, as I theorise.

Liara is too much of an important character, and her current story arc too deep and influential, to have it be a bodge job.
