dont put that in the tali theard lol
I wouldn't. But honestly I don't dislike Tali. Let's be honest, the plight of the Quarians is very much like the Jewish diaspora, and that's pretty cool. Her loyalty mission in ME2 was maybe the best thing in the game, and I really enjoyed listening to her talk about her longing to return to her homeland.
I just don't think she has anymore of a role to play on the squad. Her focus should be on her people as the Reapers return and the Quarians prepare for conflict with the Geth. That, I believe, is where her story arc works best. She's always been about her people, after all.

I'm not super interested in the SB side story, though, as no one, including Liara, has given me a good reason why we should care about him, so honestly I'd prefer we drop the whole subject.
This is actually something that tends to get lost in the utter fail of everything else surrounding it, but if BW is going to make an expac/dlc based around the SB why should I care? He's a businessman that tried to sell my dead body. Okay. /shrug
Why should Shepard (or Liara for that matter) care about that? That's what he does, sells stuff to shadow'y like people. Hence, Shadow Broker.
We got Reapers coming, a terrorist organization trying to control me, a possible war with the Quarian/Geth to resolve, etc., etc. Why would I want to waste time dealing with some random guy who was just doing something that seems rather in character for him? Thanks to Liara it all worked out in the end, problem solved as far as Shepard should be concerned.
Just one more thing that they utterly failed to explain and set up properly in Redemption. I still wonder what the point of that comic was.

If we're talking who I want back in ME3, then it's these characters:
-Liara, obviously. I want to help resolve Liara's pain, ease her of her guilt and fear. Help resolve Liara's sorrow, and bury her demons. Let Liara know that Shepard doesn't hate her, and reaffirm the romance. I'd help Liara in tracking down the Shadow Broker, but convince her that killing him won't solve her problems or make her feel happy again. I'd much prefer to do that by having Liara spend time with Shepard, the person she loves more than anyone else. She's in my opinion the absolute best LI for Shepard, and the greatest and most loyal companion and lover Shepard will have. I love her.
-Surviving Alliance soldier. Like Yeled, I've gained a new appreciation for both Ashley and Kaidan by recently playing through ME1 again. They're both brilliantly written, rich and interesting characters, alot better than the supposedly "cool and extreme" cast of ME2. They're just what you want on an Alliance ship, two Alliance marines, loyal to the cause and with the best intentions at heart. Definitely bring back Ashley and Kaidan.
-Wrex. Alot of people seem to have forgotten about the big guy. I know any future role he's going to have in the trilogy has been pretty much telegraphed in ME2, but I still harbour hope that he'll be able to lead the krogan, and board the Normandy and be a part of Shepard's squad simultaneously. I miss his dry wit, and his deadpan, snarky humour. Very philosophical too.
-Mordin. Great character, and one of my favourites from the ME2 squad. Great comic relief character, but also has quite a serious and influential role to play in the trilogy in terms of the genophage cure. Definitely want him back on the squad.
-Thane. Again, one of the few members of the ME2 squad I like. He's a very interesting character, I thought that the stories he told about Irikah and Kolyat were very interesting, and quite moving. I know he's dying, and is probably going to want to spend the remainder of his life making up with his son, but I can hope.
-Jack. I like her. I like her alot. From what I've seen, she's the best of the ME2 DudeShep romances. Her loyalty mission really helped me sympathise with her, and really like her character. Again, I don't know if she will stick around after the suicide mission, as unless she's romanced she's going to leave the ship and do her own thing.
That's the returning squadmates I'd want idealistically. Realistically though, I'm only really confident that Liara and the surviving Alliance soldier will return. I don't have much hope for the ME2 squad at all.

Sweet Jimminy Crikcet! Justin, your avatar is horrifying!
I was hoping you'd reply with your "You're scaring Liara!" captioned screenshot.
Just want to reiterate one last time, it's not a permanent avatar, I just love seeing peoples reactions to it.

Tali could have a great role outside of the squad. Plus, it could be possible to visit her whenever you want (just stop by the flotilla). You can have just as much dialog with her here as you would if she was on your ship. Add in some romantic fluff if you did her romance in ME2. If I was a Tali fan, I wouldn't be too upset about her not being a squad mate as long as she received a decent role. As a Liara fan, I was at first upset that Liara wasn't a squad mate in ME2 but then I had hopes her cameo would be awesome and meaningful and I accepted it....except, yeah, it wasn't awesome.
As long as they don't give her the horrendous ME1 LI ME2 cameo treatment....no one deserves that!

Yeled, are we talking idealistically or realistically?
I'm talking idealistically. I have no idea how to figure out BioWare's thinking at this point, and couldn't begin to speculate on realistic expectations.

Oh, and Justin? I already made my feelings known regarding your new avatar by commenting on it in your profile. :-)
Hmm, I can't seem to find it. There's a comments section in the profile but there's nothing there. I'll keep digging around. I also don't want to derail the thread, so I apologize.
@ratz - That's the one! It's making me feel guilty

well I think her part in 3 at the start will be helping you stop the intended war between the geth and quarians but after that I would like to see her and legion stay with there people and turn up near the end with fleets to fight the reapers

I want this data cache that Liara is now in possession of to be explored some more. Liara knows just what the Shadow Broker's dealings with the Collectors were, and possibly just how deep he is in with the Reapers. Until this is debunked, we need to give Liara alot more credit, I feel. If the SB is aiding the Reapers, he needs to be stopped.
The fact that Redemption shows us that the SB is talking, face-to-face with the Harbinger possessed Collector General at the Collector base, beyond the Omega 4 relay gives us some indication that the SB is really in deep with the Reapers, Liara is aware of this, and knows that he has to be stopped.
