Since we're sharing Liara squadmate stories, I'll share mine....  I took her everywhere.  Her rescue was the first post-Citadal mission I did, and she was by my side for the rest of the game.  Since my primary Shep is a soldier, the third squadmate was almost always Tali.  Some people have given me flak in the past for always using the same Shep, and always having Liara with me, but that's what brought me the greatest joy in the game.  I loved my Annika Shepard, I loved Liara, and I loved seeing the two of them together.

That's why it's so hard for me to enjoy ME2.... Liara's absence casts such a huge shadow over everthing... it's like someone sucked all the fun out of a game that is technically superior to the first in nearly every way.  It just isn't any fun without Liara.

I've only used my Justin Shepard. My other JD Shepard hasn't finished ME 1 yet. Yeah, Justin Shepard. I know it's far from original but it works for me :D

We'll get Liara back for ME3. Just sit tight.

I'd like to echo what ratz has said. I've only completed ME2 once. It felt like such a chore, it was so hollow, empty and lonely without Liara at my side. It was awful. In ME1, on my first playthrough Therum was the first planet I visited after the Citadel, and I always had Liara with me from then on. Now when I start a new ME1 game, I completely avoid all Citadel sidequests, and go and rescue Liara as soon as possible. Then she stays with me for the rest of the game. I just love having her at my side!

Could be before that if this DLC thing works out for us. The name isn't that bad, I used Michael Shepard...Spacer/Ruthless. How about this? What do you guys think Liara thinks about your Shep's background?

Mine was Colonist/War Hero. I don't think she has any background specific dialogue in game. She does mention she looks up your service record though, so she knows about it. I think she'd be a bit alarmed about a ruthless background considering her ME1 personality, and in ME2, she probably wouldn't think anything of it.

That Krogan on such a low level and on the highest difficulty has to be the hardest fight in the whole ME series. Makes you appreciate the Krogans, the way they were dumbed down in ME 2 like everything else doesn't do their reputation credit.

Neural Shock >>> that Krogan ;p

No one had a strong enough Push or Lift to even touch that damn Krogan.

I always play Spacer/War Hero.

I think Liara will empathise with how a Spacer Shepard felt as a child, constantly on the move and never really settling down in one place due to Hannah's military commitments. Plus, Liara would recognise how Shepard felt in that people would expect him/her to follow in his/her mother's footsteps. Both of these things are very likely to have happened to Liara in her youth, considering the fact that she's the daughter of a powerful and influential matriarch. Liara was probably relocated alot during her childhood, and people obviously expected her to follow in Benezia's footsteps and go into politics and community leadership.

With a War Hero Shepard, I think Liara would appreciate and be in awe of Shepard's bravery, courage, valour and determination in saving Elysium. She'd recognise Shepard's dedication and devotion to protecting innocent civilians, and I think Liara would appreciate that compassion, given Liara's own compassionate nature, and her dedication and devotion to what she's passionate about (the Protheans, Shepard). Liara would recognise Shepard as a hero, but not necessarily as being happy as people who are thrusted into the limelight like that often aren't. She'd recognise that Shepard may be quite lonely, and would want to comfort and reassure her lover.

I agree with this, because we have the same origin and its how I view it as well. As far as her reaction to my Ruthless background...I think that at first she might not understand it.  After the Meld tho she would gain a lot more clarity into why he did what he did on Torfan. I RP a Ruthless background Shep a bit differently than some folks might. I don't see him as this cold and heartless killer...he is very loyal to the Alliance because of who his parents are and how his childhood was spent going from military base to military base. On Torfan I'm sure that the orders to completely wipe out all the Slavers/Pirates/Terrorists came from the brass and Shep being the loyal soldier followed through with it. Most of his unit died, true, but if he retreated then those same criminals would have another shot at attacking the Alliance and her colonies. I imagine that he still mourns those that died with him on that day, but he knows he did the right thing in the long run. I believe that Liara would see this and understand that what he was ordered to do and what he did was for the greater good.

Wall'o'text, sorry.

No, don't apologise, that was very interesting to read. I love seeing people's different interpretations and how they RP their Shepards.

I completely agree with you on how Liara would react. She'd be shocked at first with what Shepard did on Torfan, but then come to realise that your Shepard is somewhat sympathetic. Liara being the compassionate person that she is, would fully understand Shepard's emotions and memories of what occured.

Thanks for sharing! :D

Ah yes, "paragraphs". a self-contained unit of a discourse writing dealing with a particular point or idea. We have dismissed these claims.

Thanks Justin and LET, I still feel bad cause I need to know Liara is getting the attention she deserves and for me not to be contributing to that as much as I wish I could just makes me feel bad... but I'll be back to my old form soon, once all of the crazyness phase IRL is calmed down a tad.

Ok, listening to SRV's "Little Wing" as I quickly jump in with a comment or 3-
When I personally type LiLi, I pronounce it Leelee (not Lilly); but Lia is awesome as a nickname.
Kaidan's Renegade(ish) regarding the Rachni Queen - that plus RTFM equals 'win' on that world.
Alyna Shepard is an Infiltrator +AR Spacer/War Hero, mainly because I like the idea of calling Mom, and her Squad is Ash and Lia. Anya is a Spacer/SS Vanguard +AR who takes Lia and Garrus everywhere.
Well, lunch is over in -2 minutes so that's it for now. Keep the faith, les and co!

The Couple

Here's a pic I commissioned a while ago, featuring Liara and ratz's Annika Shepard. Obviously set after the events of ME3, it shows Shepard and a pregnant Liara, with Shepard bending down to listen to their daughter's heartbeat in Liara's womb. Liara is comforting and reassuring a somewhat anxious, but ecstatic Shepard by placing her hand on Shepard's head.

I'd love it if something like this happens at the end of the trilogy!
