Also I think we can take pride in the fact that I believe this is the only fan thread a Bioware Mod has not had to run into and tell us to tone it down with a threat of locking it.

Now that I think about it...you're right.

I am sure they occasionally keep an eye on us to ensure we are not secretly saying bad words  or something...

I do worry about what contrived way they're going to reset Shepard for ME3, so that we again start from Level 1 and we'll be able to change our class and appearance. Surely they won't kill Shepard again, right?

Alternatively, you could change Shepard's appearance by having Liara talking to someone about him/her, and when Liara describes Shepard's appearance it takes you to the character creator. I don't know, this is pretty far out speculation.

I think it is probably more likely no mod or dev has ever stepped foot inside this thread.

Agreed.  Assuming ME3 does pick up where ME1 left off with the characters and the Reaper threat I feel like I could have completely skipped ME2 and not missed a single thing.  There certainly isn't anything in ME2 that felt important to "my" Shepard.

Yeah, you see if Bioware had clarified these things earlier, that we were getting a trilogy in the style of say.... Aliens, rather than Star Wars, people might understand.

Instead, they even went so far as to just before ME2s release CONSTANTLY liken it to Empire. Why? Did Empire reset things at the start of the film? Did it focus on a different villain/group of antagonists? Did it throw out the old crew and replace them with new ones?

People will come to their defence and say "video game writing isnt like writing films". Well kiddies, the moral of the story is dont frigging use films as a point of reference if that is the case.

I remember we had Stanley Woo and Chris Priestly trying to counteract this with their "Indiana Jones"/"A song of Ice and Fire" comparisons, which were quite frankly too little too late. We could have done with that garbage when they were selling ME1 to us as an epic trilogy where your choices and influence on the story would cascade throughout all three games.

Absolute true and furthermore, if whole series would be done really properly i am more than sure that noone will give even a single credit of critic if they will decide to extend whole series on next instalments.

Like i say once, Bioware wanted to catch two birds (aka ME series and SW ToR) using single hand and effect of that we see now... and honestly that's not a good sign for ME future.
I am still counting possibility that Kasumi and Zaeed will be "refited" as fully interactive party members in next game and now they were placed as "bot" types characters to test how people will react on them in general.
But other side of the coin shows that those duo might be a sign that in next game only Lis will be fully interactive characters (IF we will have that much of the luck) when rest will be just talk-able placeholders.

Heck... Miri's L-mission show that they are able to created emotional stuff but some inside "force" prevented them for giving them "full speed ahead" and fleshed out each caracter whit real emotions.
Someone might say that ME 2 suffers in that field backlash of the "LiaraAffair" but that would be rather sad thing if such critic will hinder any possible emotional engagements in games.

*Sigh...* I really wish someone from staff will come here and give us at least slight support... but propably i am asking for too much.

I dont see why they need to add story just because we can change class and appearance at the start.
They dont need to explain that, I mean I could careless to be honest.:?

They generally seem to rely on folks messaging them if someone is swearing or posting vulgar imagery. We would need to be reported by someone before the mods step in here I think.

They occasionally respond to a thread, but to be honest we shouldn't expect developers or writers to post.  I think Casey has posted like twice.

David Gaider responds to the DA forums, or at least did during the initial release weeks.

Hopefully theyve done enough damage already with the ME2 reset, which lets remember wasnt just a means to change the face and class of Shepard (they could have done that with a database screen like ME1) but also to remove the old squad, and basically anyone of any significance in ME1, and strongarm the nigh retconned cerberus into the plot as strangely the only ones who give a crap about the reapers.

As long as Bioware loves money, and as long as Bioware owns the ME IP, they will always be right, no matter what we say, unfortunately.

BW has a thing or two to learn about interacting with their playerbases if they think they are up to the task of running an MMO.  You get a couple hundered thousand WoW players in here and they try and keep this "we don't talk about anything" attitude and they are going to get eaten alive.

In addition to the red one...

Click the images for instructions on how to to add them to your sig, make them clickable, and how to remove the orange border around them.

I've added that color scheme, because some people wanted it to match other darker sig pics.

Yeah, I do think they overpromised a bit with the "your decisions carry over". Still, that doesn't change the fact the conclusion can still be good and we still get the ending we want. At least they werent Peter Molyneux who promised the Galaxy with Fable which turned out to be underwhelming...

Or remember the game Black and White? LMAO

Well depending on just how "standalone" ME3 is, Bioware may have Molyneuxed so bad they could teach the man a thing or two.

But youre right, ME3 needs to be out first. I held back on my final expectations of ME2 until playing the game: it turned out I shouldnt have, as I was right to be concerned. With ME3, I will simply reserve judgement, but continually expect it to be crap and the final nail in the coffin of disappointment that has been the Mass Effect trilogy since the ME2 hype machine first started with the "Shepard KIA" trailer.

One thing I've noticed on the forum (not this board) from the fans who herald the story as "epic".  They have an apologists view of ME3; it will magically fix every loose end and illogical plot point that made the viewer go "wtf" throughout ME2 (which is about every 10 minutes.)  The token response: "Don't worry.  ME3 will fix x."  I can see this done for character arcs, (or lack thereof), but not the main plot.  I'd hate to suggest ME continues in some odd expansion, or even other games, where we're constantly looking for the next story to explain the previous.

At least take comfort in the fact that it's almost a certainty that Liara will be back in the squad again in ME3, and that she'll be on the Normandy too.

I really hope she stays in Shep's cabin if she's your LI. I'd love that.

Just saying, they got a lot to learn.  This social site I think is great, they should actually take some time to learn how to interact with people.

If they keep up the attitude they have now, things are gonna get ugly real fast after TOR launches.

Not so different as you thing but Dinkamus is correct... SW ToR staff need to prepare themself to deal whit sometimes "thread s*** Storm" and attitude "Ah yes... in game bugs, we have dissmissed that claims" will not help in creation of communication bridges.

It's hardly apologist to state that one hopes ME  3 will provide a satisfying ending considering that for the most part, every Bioware game so far has done just that.

Also, the developers have said again and again, and themselves realize, that ME 3 is the end of Shepard's story.  The ME universe is a franchise, and we will probably see other game experiences.  When it comes to Commander Shepard of the Normandy and probably most of the characters, this is it.

It could've been worse folks.

Liara could have run off with Ashley Williams and then Shepard would be left broken hearted.

So I hear. I couldn't care less and I guess the MMO will be the first BioWare game I won't purchase, but I wonder if the masses it will no doubt draw will all come to these forums? If so, I wonder how well this approach of "don't talk, don't support" that BioWare has been displaying with their games recently will fly. On the other hand, MMOs are what companies like EA wish for, a constant stream of income, whereas they already got our money and don't need to care about us until the next game is around the corner. So maybe they'll bother more to please the the MMO players, who knows.
