Also I think we can take pride in the fact that I believe this is the only fan thread a Bioware Mod has not had to run into and tell us to tone it down with a threat of locking it.
Now that I think about it...you're right.

I am sure they occasionally keep an eye on us to ensure we are not secretly saying bad words or something...

Agreed. Assuming ME3 does pick up where ME1 left off with the characters and the Reaper threat I feel like I could have completely skipped ME2 and not missed a single thing. There certainly isn't anything in ME2 that felt important to "my" Shepard.
Yeah, you see if Bioware had clarified these things earlier, that we were getting a trilogy in the style of say.... Aliens, rather than Star Wars, people might understand.
Instead, they even went so far as to just before ME2s release CONSTANTLY liken it to Empire. Why? Did Empire reset things at the start of the film? Did it focus on a different villain/group of antagonists? Did it throw out the old crew and replace them with new ones?
People will come to their defence and say "video game writing isnt like writing films". Well kiddies, the moral of the story is dont frigging use films as a point of reference if that is the case.
I remember we had Stanley Woo and Chris Priestly trying to counteract this with their "Indiana Jones"/"A song of Ice and Fire" comparisons, which were quite frankly too little too late. We could have done with that garbage when they were selling ME1 to us as an epic trilogy where your choices and influence on the story would cascade throughout all three games.

I dont see why they need to add story just because we can change class and appearance at the start.LesEnfantsTerribles wrote...
I do worry about what contrived way they're going to reset Shepard for ME3, so that we again start from Level 1 and we'll be able to change our class and appearance. Surely they won't kill Shepard again, right?
Alternatively, you could change Shepard's appearance by having Liara talking to someone about him/her, and when Liara describes Shepard's appearance it takes you to the character creator. I don't know, this is pretty far out speculation.

They generally seem to rely on folks messaging them if someone is swearing or posting vulgar imagery. We would need to be reported by someone before the mods step in here I think.

They occasionally respond to a thread, but to be honest we shouldn't expect developers or writers to post. I think Casey has post like twice.
David Gaider responds to the DA forums, or at least did during the initial release weeks.

BW has a thing or two to learn about interacting with their playerbases if they think they are up to the task of running an MMO. You get a couple hundered thousand WoW players in here and they try and keep this "we don't talk about anything" attitude and they are going to get eaten alive.

Yeah, I do think they overpromised a bit with the "your decisions carry over". Still, that doesn't change the fact the conclusion can still be good and we still get the ending we want. At least they werent Peter Molyneux who promised the Galaxy with Fable which turned out to be underwhelming...
Or remember the game Black and White? LMAO
Well depending on just how "standalone" ME3 is, Bioware may have Molyneuxed so bad they could teach the man a thing or two.
But youre right, ME3 needs to be out first. I held back on my final expectations of ME2 until playing the game: it turned out I shouldnt have, as I was right to be concerned. With ME3, I will simply reserve judgement, but continually expect it to be crap and the final nail in the coffin of disappointment that has been the Mass Effect trilogy since the ME2 hype machine first started with the "Shepard KIA" trailer.

One thing I've noticed on the forum (not this board) from the fans who herald the story as "epic". They have an apologists view of ME3; it will magically fix every loose end and illogical plot point that made the viewer go "wtf" throughout ME2 (which is about every 10 minutes.) The token response: "Don't worry. ME3 will fix x." I can see this done for character arcs, (or lack thereof), but not the main plot. I'd hate to suggest ME continues in some odd expansion, or even other games, where we're constantly looking for the next story to explain the previous.

In addition to the red one...
... there is now also a blue one.
Click the images for instructions on how to to add them to your sig, make them clickable, and how to remove the orange border around them.
I've added that color scheme, because some people wanted it to match other darker sig pics.

Liara MUST stay in Sheps cabin as Li:DLesEnfantsTerribles wrote...
At least take comfort in the fact that it's almost a certainty that Liara will be back in the squad again in ME3, and that she'll be on the Normandy too.
I really hope she stays in Shep's cabin if she's your LI. I'd love that.
