It's times like this I wish we were back on the old forum.  We could ask Patrick about this scene he's describing, and there would be a good chance he'd actually respond.  The odds of that happening now lay somwhere between jack and sh_t.

There IS general problem that let say in general game developers are bonded whit non disclosure agreements which blocked them from active participating in any debates about game mechanics or story development.

So no wonder that nobody from core devs team ever visit forums...

Actually, he will always reply on LiveJournal - I recently asked him for advice regarding my artwork being posted against my will, and the complications because it's fanart.

He instantly responded, and was very helpful and pleasant.

Having said that, he probably can't discuss any plot-related stuff.

I'm wondering if there's anyway that we can phrase a question to Patrick about this, include Liara in the context somehow, and see if there's a possibility he can enlighten us regarding Liara's DLC somehow.

I wouldn't hold my breath, though. As Liara's DLC is unconfirmed speculation at the moment, he can't really say anything about it that confirms it, as that would constitute a leak. BW want to announce Liara's new content with bravado, and generate hype and excitement themselves.

Someone should casually mention on LJ that we would prefer movie Liara :P:wizard:

I wouldn't expect any answers in regards to plot.

I wonder what characters he wrote in ME 2.  There were some very well written ones.  Mordin is one of my favorites and it seems whoever created him spent a lot of time making sure the ultimate result was well done.  He is not only funny but his eventual realization at the cost of his actions (if you are a Paragon) makes him memorable.

Then there were some not so well written characters.  There are no BAD squad mates in ME 2, just mishandled ones, in my opinion.  Jacob suffers from this.  Not only does he have a sad selection of skills and weapons which results in him being outclassed within the first half hour of the game, but he is turned into basically a sex object for Female Shepards.  He could've related very well to Shepard, almost a human-Garrus like character, in that he is the only other Alliance soldier type on the squad.  On a friendship level, I can imagine there would be a strong connection there.  Instead...he turns out to be one of the blander squad mates and probably most underused.

I'd be very careful of mentioning specifics.  If he feels his cover is blown and exposed widely he may just lock it down.

I wouldn't if I were you - he's unlikely to respond if it's about plot stuff, and he's not stupid - he won't accidentally let anything slip.

If he feels he's being pestered, he'll just stop posting.

I posted those quotes to encourage discussion, not to encourage people hounding one of the nicest BW staff members I've spoken to.

Seems more sensible then to just wait it out. As much as I would just like to know right now...sigh

I also liked Mordin exspecially that you could reason with him about the ethics of the genophage that made his personal quest really stick out somewhat to me,I would like something similar for Liara, reasoning with her about what killing the SB would do,will it really "redeem" or something like that

As for who Weekes wrote,I think he wrote Tali in ME2 but beyond that no idea
I also agree on the fact that some squadmates were badly writen, but I think the main issue was they just lacked content overall Garrus for example feels like a really late addition to the cast because of that and the lack of friendship paths for romance characters adds to this too

IccaRa has it. And I think Ratz is tactful enough to avoid sounding like he's digging for plot.

E3 isn't far away. If they are spending so much time on Liara though, it sounds like it may just be the expansion in 2011, which wouldn't be bad. It would probably give a worthy due to all of the storylines to prepare for the end.

I'd like an expansion. I think there's a lot that needs bridged before ME3, otherwise it will feel like you're rushed to the end of the game.

On an odd side note, I just got a friend request in Italian from this site. Perhaps the social network assumes I am from the sunny peninsula...

I've gotten 2 in dutch and 1 in german. Also, if I clear out my browser cache, it wants to assume the sight is in French on a first load, although I can legibly read it in english... I don't know what the hell causes all of that.

I don't think he was concerned about you personally just more with the idea of once you open the floodgates, there is no closing them.

Look at it this way, we get even more engaging speculation to fill the thread with, all within a few simple sentences. :)

ratz, good luck with finding anything out from Patrick. Fingers crossed!

MDK, can't wait to see the finished versions of the WIP images you've posted so far. Seriously, you capture Liara perfectly. She looks just like she does in-game!

I really cannot wait until the Liara DLC now. Deep, emotional content, and comforting Liara after she opens her heart to Shepard? Oh yes! I know I've always theorised that will be the case in Liara's DLC, but to hear it somewhat confirmed is really exciting.

Indeed Les!, altough if Patrick is writing it right now, then we've got a bit of a wait on our hands.

You have a point, but at the same time, it's nice to know how the author is going to perceive these moments, assuming it's related to Liara. I'll wait for a good product. That doesn't bother me one bit.

Meh, I'd be willing to bet it'll be too little too late.  Like I said yesterday, unless it comes out as somthing epic beyond our wildest imaginations I don't see much hope for ME3 being worthwhile for fans of ME1 LI's.

I guess that would debunk my theory that most of Liara's DLC was developed concurrently with the rest of the game, huh?

Still, he did only say that's writing an emotional, intimate scene in which Liara opens up to Shepard, and we comfort her. Perhaps BW added these scenes with Liara at a later date, after having the meat of Liara's DLC completed when they finished the rest of ME2. They would then add in alot of the deep, emotional and intimate scenes with Liara at a later date, ie now.

Of course, there's also the fact that at some point they're going to need to get Ali, Mark and Jennifer back into the studio to record these new lines. Sigh, it could be quite a while yet until we see this Liara DLC. I want more Liara now!!!
