I can't believe I overlooked a seemingly important and interesting post as this. Does anyone have a link to Patrick Weekes' LJ account to verify this?

If the devs and writers truly are watching our thread, then that really gives me hope. They'd have hopefully seen the hours, pages and paragraphs of analysis, speculation and theorising we have done regarding Liara and her character, the frustrations and disappointments that alot of her fans are experiencing, and our absolute devotion and dedication to her.

Seriously, I really do hope that they are reading, and they know just how Liara's fans feel.

Don't know where that came from - I'm looking at his LJ right now and it's still there...

Dang. Well, it was nice getting my hopes up, however briefly.

I just want some confirmation of the Liara DLC from BioWare. Something to put alot of our minds at ease.

Yeah we know about it. However, personally I believe it's just leftover cut-out content and will never be used in any way.

I think it will be used, and its dissapointing how a good character is killed in a short mission, and how she can do this after 2 years otheres have done this for many more. And then the entire reason for not joining was weak is now non existant, would be BS if it was released.

Nah, it's cut content. The whole Liara/SB story arc has received a huge rewrite and expansion. There's been a bit of circulation of misinformation regarding these audio files, they're not located in the folders marked with "Liara DLC" at all, they're actually located in the audio files for the main game, along with the rest of the cut content.

If you listen to what is said in those cut files, particularly between Liara and Shepard, you'll realise that everything has been rewritten, and it directly contradicts alot of what has been displayed so far in ME2 regarding Liara and the SB, partcularly concerning the Observer sidequest.

Plus, it also seems to indicate that their original intention for Liara not being able to join the Normandy is because she would sift through the Shadow Broker's data in order to find information on the Collectors that could help Shepard in the coming battles. She was going to find ways to assist you. Of course, they realised what a stupid idea that was because 1. Why would Liara continue on in a job she obviously hates, and not join Shepard again as she expresses a desire ot in ME2? 2. She needs to read the data, why not do so on board the Normandy with the help of a powerful AI?

Yeah, I think they realised that their original reason for keeping Liara off the Normandy was a poor one, so it's been rewritten. I very much doubt that these audio files will ever see the light of day. They'll record new audio files for Liara and Shepard.

Well the soundfiles as they are wont be used since it wouldnt make sense anymore,if you go by them the original setup was basicly TIM gives you the SBs location you give to Liara the SB gets gunned down,Liara still cant come with you because she has to read, but Shepard gets to do the two quests that are in the game already hacking terminals/killing the Observer.
So its save to say that wont happen,of course you can say so far they just changed the order of things and theres nothing that stops Bioware from recording new lines that tell the same story

If they do have Liara's DLC/expansion mission set post suicide mission, then I see absolutely no reason why they can't have Liara back on board the Normandy after the mission's conclusion. If she's your LI, she gets to stay in Shepard's cabin and if not, she can probably stay in the lab with Mordin, doing research. Probably stuff about the Protheans, heh. That way, she's ready and set up to be a squadmate again in ME3.

I think Liaras best chance of being in the squad in ME3 is actually the opposite, and being away from Shepard. They are going to find some way to "reset" things again to make the final game "standalone" and Liara is more likely to be a squadmate if she comes in after that reset that will probably once again clean out most if not the entire ME2 squad.

I would prefer no Liara DLC to one that allows her to die in the suicide mission. So it needs to be forced post-suicide mission or so that she can't be kept as a squadmate. I don't want her sidelined in ME3 like most of the ME2 squad will be.

Thats most likely the way to go,to have chance of having Liara as a squadmate again
I wonder what they will invent this time to reset it all, maybe they use the good old amnesia this time around<_<

Maybe Shepard will dress up like a Terminator in an undercover sting operation on the reapers and send them down for tax evasion....

Oh yeah, I agree entirely. If one thing is pretty certain, it's that they're saving Liara and don't want her to die in ME2 at all, as she must be in ME3. If Liara's DLC can be played prior to the suicide mission, then I'm willing to bet that she'll be a temporary squadmate and will return to Illium once it is concluded. If it's set after the suicide mission, then there's nothing stopping them from having her join the Normandy permanently afterwards.

Regarding alot of you guy's fears about the "reset", surely they aren't going to do anything as drastic as killing Shepard and destroying the Normandy again, right? I wouldn't be concerned if Liara is back with Shepard again prior to the beginning of ME3. They're going to find other reasons for the ME2 squad going off and doing their own thing, and Liara and the Virmire survivor will be free from whatever duties or reasons they had before that prevented them from rejoining the Normandy.

I agree about having dlc with Liara in it , i dont agree  about the probability of her dieing on the sucide mission, allthough you love her & and she will always be loyal to you (i think's) .

But yeah a few mission's with her and some *private time to chat* would be super mega awesome....Image IPBImage IPB

This is what interests me the most about the Liara DLC. Forget all of the shooter combat parts, I want the deep, intimate conversation with Liara. I want to help ease her of her pain, and comfort her properly. I want Liara to open her heart about all of her suffering for the past 2 years. That's what I'm really looking forward to from the Liara DLC.

If what Weekes was talking about on his LJ is related to the Liara DLC, then we are going to see Liara open her heart to Shepard, and Shepard comfort her. A deep, intimate scene like that is something I want more than anything else. I just want Liara to be happy again, and to reaffirm the romance.

You can say that again. If I want proper and challenging combat - with working RPG elements I might add - I go and play Fallout 3. It's exactly for the deeper stuff, that most other games miss, that I play BioWare games. Not to pew-pew my way through hordes of enemies.

Exactly. In my own idealistic world, Liara's DLC will have little to no combat at all, and will be focused on her character almost completely. Helping her out, easing her pain, creating believeable character development and really exploring Liara's suffering and her love for Shepard.

I know that won't be the case though, as some combat is mandatory. The Shadow Broker isn't going to leave his location completely unguarded, and Tazzik will also probably be a boss battle too. But as long as we get the deep, intimate dialogue with Liara and we can comfort her after she opens her heart, then I'll be happy. Reaffirmation of the romance is a must, too.

Bear in mind that we still don't know how they plan to start MassEffect3.  We still don't know what role they plan to have Liara play in getting the next game going.  And we still don't know how they're planning to handle the current squad with relation to the future squad.

Morning Sunnie!

To be honest, I don't have much hope for the ME2 squad. We're almost encouraged in a meta way to not give a crap about them, due to the fact that they're all completely expendable and can die. I'd be very surprised if we get any more than a couple ME2 squaddies back for ME3.

We don't know the exact specifics for what they plan for Liara in ME3, but I'm extremely confident that it's going to be something big, and that she'll be a squaddie again and have a large story role in the game too. I get the feeling that they have big plans for Liara.

I hope in the near-future there is some "comfirmed" Liara  Content in Future dlc .
I just want to get to know her more as a person instead of Discussing problems and putting that aside ,  instead of  shooting  all the time , it would add a more"realistic" feel to show how much  my  femshep loves her .

Well, after all of last night's debates and discussions, perhaps we need a new topic.

I'm busy beavering away on that drawing, but I wonder - if and when Liara returns as a squadmate in ME3, as we all hope, just how do you reckon she'll be introduced?

Will she just leave her office and go back to the Normandy? Or arrive in a blaze of glory?

Discuss

I believe she will return with Shepard before ME3;  And, in an ME2 Expansion.
