The name of this particular piece is the "Unrocky".
"Isn't it beautiful, Shepard? All these people, you saved them. Even if they don't give a damn, as you put it so bluntly."
"You know Liara... I think it was worth saving for this moment alone."
Someone likes the Poster Edges filter (though it tends to desaturate the image a bit)... <_<
Great piece all the same, though. Definitely one of those moments that I wish could happen...

Am I like the only person that doesn't want new squad members? I mean really...why do we need them? Then again, I hated the whole, thing they did with ME2...sure...I liked some of the new characters...but I hated the old ones being left out. When will BioWare learn...that when you give us huge ass amounts of people to pick from, and then only let us take a few of them along...you're wasting time on characters not everyone will ever play with...ok, so you can call it replayability or whatever your want, but still. Why not give us less characters and make them deeper. More story, more dialog, more romance, more fluff and filler. I mean, most characters, I only ever took them on the missions I was forced to take them on...I left the sitting back in camp or on the ship, depending upon the game...I guess I should be happy I had choices, but I'd rather see better characters and fewer of them. Then again...they might pick the ones I don't like, to be the ones they focus on...then I'd be screwed...I guess I should be happy I had a large pool from which to find the ones I like. Ok, rant over.
I wouldnt have minded old characters, but like we keep saying, all bar Liara and the Virmire Survivor are dead, somewhere on someones save. That compromises the character fundamentally.
Id rather have Liara and the Virmire survivor be the only returning squadmates and have 4 other new, extremely well developed characters with tons of dialogue and bearing on the plot, rather than a sloppy return of characters who are dead and therefore missing in some peoples games, woefully limiting the amount of development they can have.
Its one of the only reasons I was able to wait out this awful cameo role in ME2: because the "saving these characters" theory made sense.
Its also why if it isnt followed through on in ME3, and Liara and VS get great, plot heavy squadmate roles, Ill pass on ME3.
With all due respect, there have been more than enough warning signs around the ME2 squad. Firstly you can take into account the devs and their attitude towards the ME1 LIs in comparison to the ME2 squad "the ME1 LIs are saved for ME3 - we want to make sure they are alive for ME3. The ME2 squad cant say that." You can then look at certain characters who look to have hooks already placed in their characters as to why they wont be on your team come ME3.

Yes, I agree. I expect Garrus and Tali especially wil get sidelined with minor roles aboard the Normandy and as LI's.
You don't seriously believe that, do you. They went out of their way with the attention dedicated to Tali, and whatever one may think about that, I see little reason why they wouldn't do exactly the same for ME 3. The Garrus situation is not so clear, his romance was obviously fan service, but he, his role, and the romance obviously didn't receive nearly as much attention. I am unsure however if I should be jealous that he got at least that amount of attention, or if I should be glad that the Liara situation wasn't continued in such a short, shallow and meaningless way. Probably a bit of both.
PS: No offense intended to the fans of any character. This is about the writing.
Tali was hands down the best character in ME2 and was a perfect example of how to build on a character in a sequel. If every ME1 character was brought into ME2 and given the treatment Tali was the game would have been a masterful sequel.
Garrus although given squadmate status seems to have very little reason to be so. He's entirely expendable and the reset button was hit on him so how you interacted with him in ME1 means squat. His loyalty mission is also a carbon copy of his mission from the first game.

I would like to have the ME2 crew back, but like Dink mentions here, if they do it, each character is going to be bland. It will be sloppy and, hell, they might not even speak to you barring one conversation if you didn't romance them. Maybe BW will choose to do this since it will be easier than creating a few new fully developed characters? It's possible.
Hopefully, Liara and the Virmire survivor will get character development and lots of great dialog that ties into the plot. I wouldn't expect this from any ME2 character, whether they are in the squad or not, it doesn't matter. Looking back, we might see that the ME1 LI's cameo role in ME2 was more in depth than each ME2 squad mate's role in ME3, even if they are in your squad again. They really can't do much with them as they can be dead.

In a way, all of this anguish and despair over Liara's role in ME2 could ultimately turn out to be worth it in the end, if she's given a deep, important and meaningful story role, squadmate status, lots of character development and her romance is substantial, deep and emotional. It hurts now, but the payoff in the end with Liara just might make it all worthwhile.

They definitely surprised me with the lengths they went through to make Mass Effect 2 really feel like a complete continuation onto your first adventure.
I don't think we played the same game. Where can I get this copy of ME2 that is actually a continuation of ME1? I'd so love to play that.

I thought that the whole "alters the tone" explanation was only applicable to ME2? As like I said, CH said in a recent interview that ME3 is where we'll see our choices realy come to fruition.
Sorry LET, buy anyone that would put any stock in anything CH (or anyone from the ME team at this point) says anymore is...well I can't think of a nice way to put it.

/shrug All they did for Tali was take the Liara romance from ME1 and slap it on top of her. 1) Save her from being trapped by Geth during an attack on a remote site 2) Console her after the loss of a parent 3) Take her virginity
Tali fans should actually be a little insulted that all they got was a copy/paste of the Liara romance.

That is true, and it's the only reason I like her, because she reminds me of Liara...it puts things in perspective when you view it like that. Still, it's moving and touching, if replayed. They know what works, so they copied it. Can you blame them? Liara was the most popular character back when ME1 first came out, before all the talk about ME2 started.
What Tali has on Liara though, is she's in two games, not one, and the second time around, with this story type, they did it a little better...I mean you got to hug Tali, you didn't get to hug Liara. Tali got to say she already had feelings for you, that grew from the first game...Liara fall in love with you at first sight. They tried to say Tali fell for you at first sight, like Liara...more proof they copied things...but I don't buy that.
Thus you get Tali fans feeling they are better then us Liara lovers...saying their story with her, is deeper then ours...and you get the Liara haters calling her crazy and whatever...but really the story of Tali and Liara are near the same...it's funny when you look most Liara haters and they are Tali fans.

I think it will be interesting to see what they do with Tali in ME3. Considering BW's penchant for copy/paste I bet it will be whatever was originally planned for Liara in ME2 before this whole "suicide mission" gimmick got introduced.

As someone who plays a female Shepard my opinion is based on not having had the chance to romance Tali (although I would have loved to). In the sequel Tali is more experienced and worldly but she is still the character we love from the original game. Her loyalty mission is also very emotional (and is the best part of the game IMO) and allows us to see more into her character as struggles with being casted out of quarian society as well as potentially being responsible for her father's downfall. Her speach about her father building a home on their homeworld was heartbreaking.

I have the feeling, and I'm sure I'll be wrong here...but Tali will return to the fleet, even if she was exiled...they'll come up with some reason why they let her back, the Geth, I'm sure. Thus you'll see a Tali telling Shepard she has to help her people; and maybe she'll become an Admiral. This will effectively take Tali out of the game, and end the romance. Because her people will be more important to her, then Shepard. Sounds like something we've heard before, hmm.
It wouldn't end the Tali romance. They can't screw over any of the ME2 romances like they did the ME1 ones since this is the final act of the trilogy. Tali might be on the flotilla but it will probably be a situation where Shepard can go talk to her whenever and if romanced in ME2, Tali will have some romantic dialog options.
I think each LI, (ME1 and ME2) will have a generic 'love scene' before the final ME3 battle.

I don't disagree that Tali in ME2 was pulled off better than Liara in ME1 and that her being in both games is one of the main reasons for her popularity. I just wonder how many Tali fans actually realize all they are is a replacement for Liara since BW decided to write her out?

Seeing as Tali can't be romanced by the real Commander Shepard (

This. Generic scenes around the board for romances, and a generic argument in the case if you moved on from an ME1 LI to 2.

I doubt it. I don't share the sentiment that they are actually going to reduce the roles of the ME2 squad, I think it is more than likely they'll get a huge bulk of the development time and the ME1 chars that were left out of ME2 will probably get similar treatment to what they have already received. Just my guess though.
