Yeah, I am so glad that I read this thread so shortly after starting my first playthrough, and I feel sorry for everyone who went and found that out, but they saved me a lot of anguish.

I mean, I'd like a mix of Liaras 1 and 2, myself, if it's possible to blend personalities, but I'm personally leaning towards the 'facade' concept of her main ME2 personality.  Though this apparently was facilitated by Ali Hillis not having time to prepare, so it sounded very affected to my ears, still, I do hope they work with that instead of try to deny it.

Jayla has it right. I like ME2. Do I like it better than ME1? Nope, the reasons are many, but the largest is the huge fail that was the writing. Some will argue forever, but for me, I liked the inventory, liked the Mako, liked the weapon mod system, liked the various armors, liked the elevators, loved the story, fell in love with Liara, ummm... all of the stuff everyone seems to hate. Do I care? No, I am happy with my beliefs and feelings on both games. All I or anyone else can do now is wait to see if ME3 will be the complete train wreck that it appears its turning into.

Does someone have a Liara facepalm pic?  It would fit quite nicely right here.

Liara got the best treatment out of the LI, why they could't do a cameo for lIara like they did with Wrex I have no clue.

Yes, I don't want them to drop everything we've seen from Liara in ME2 and revert her back to her ME1 emotional state and personality.  A combination of ME1 Liara and ME2 Liara is fine.  I don't think they're necessarily mutually exclusive.  In ME2, we might just be seeing a different side of Liara that was always there but we just didn't get to see it given the circumstances.  I don't think the 'new' Liara's evil or is traveling down a dark path.  She's driven and she has a goal that needs acomplished and is heavily focused on this.

Wrong, they get a sweet email that says they still care.

It was cheap and pretty much sealed the deal with me going with Mri, at least my Shepard who roamnced liara is loyal to her. Come to think of it, all my Shepards who roamnnced Liara are loyal to her....................

And here's where we deviate -- I really don't believe that the train wreck is imminent.

Accuse me of talking to les or Stubbs too much (and to be sure, I've talked to the latter so much I'm thinking Slayer is GOD), but I do believe that BioWare knows that all characters have their fans, that ME1 LIs are among them, and that they want to make every fan of every character happy if at all possible.  Since pissing off one fanbase in favor of another would be counterintuitive, they're not going to intentionally do that, either.  Because more happy fans = more sales.

Oh, and I mostly liked how the game turned out anyway, gameplay wise, except that the Hammerhead should've been a bit more physics-bound.
