Jayla has it right. I like ME2. Do I like it better than ME1? Nope, the reasons are many, but the largest is the huge fail that was the writing. Some will argue for ever but for me, I liked the inventory, liked the Mako, liked the weapon mod system, liked the various armors, liked the elevators, loved the story, fell in love with Liara, ummm... all of the stuff everyone seems to hate. Do I care? No, I am happy with my beliefs and feelings on both games. All I or anyone else can do now is wait to see if ME3 will be the complete train wreck that it appears its turning into.

I half agree I think.   I hated the Mako, but hated planet scanning more.  Haven't gotten the new Mako DLC for ME2 so I dunno if it is better or not.  Driving the Mako in ME1 made me want to hurt fluffy little animals.  I also didn't enjoy turning 150 items into Omni-gel one item at a time.

I did like the variety of armors and weapon mods, and they could (and should have) very easily been worked into the new set up as various options.

I thought many of the technical improvements made in ME2 were great.  The combat was more fluid and natural, I liked having the streamlined leveling (thought more depth wouldn't hurt it), I liked the inventory it was just very bare bones, I thought the digital acting was vasty improved, their cinematography was vastly improved and use of lighting and atmosphere was much better, and as usual the VA was top notch.

All of it was a complete waste though because I didn't care about any of it.  They threw away the great story setup ME1 had left them with, they threw away the emotional attachment I had with the main character, and they threw away the engagement I had with the characters that were important to me and my Shepard. 

In the end, without having any sort of emotional anchor in the game to allow me to suspend by disbelief and just enjoy the game it was pretty much utter fail.  At least if the story had been sound and interesting I might have been able to overlook some of it but even that just left me shaking my head.

I can safely say this is the first BW game that ever left thinking these guys are a bunch of hacks.  If I want a mindless shooter with paper thin story and characters I care nothing about I'll go play GoW.  They have better gameplay anyway.

It was cheap and pretty much sealed the deal with me going with Mri, at least my Shepard who roamnced liara is loyal to her. Come to think of it, all my Shepards who roamnnced Liara are loyal to her....................

Seriously, though, the e-mail is a hell of a bone of contention, because it's something we don't even get.  We can get a semi-hidden option to hear something special, but (in my opinion, because of the comic's plot) everyone can get that line.  But to think about it, Ash and Kai fans are about as screwed over as us, and we've got to remind ourselves that every so often.

Yes, I don't want them to drop everything we've seen from Liara in ME2 and revert her back to her ME1 emotional state and personality.  A combination of ME1 Liara and ME2 Liara is fine.  I don't think they're necessarily mutually exclusive.  In ME2, we might just be seeing a different side of Liara that was always there but we just didn't get to see it given the circumstances.  I don't think the 'new' Liara's evil or is traveling down a dark path.  She's driven and she has a goal that needs acomplished and is heavily focused on this.

And I could have bought that if her motivations had been in the right place.  Having her devote every waking moment of the rest of her life to "avenge Feron lolz!!!" is pretty craptastic though.  Like we all said before Redemption came out all her changes and actions had to be centered in her feelings for Shep.  BW just took the lazy way out of it though.

You guys are great and all but I need to quit coming here.  Every time I come and read the Liara thread it just makes me mad all over again.  I should just go burn my ME2 disks and pretend ME was never a trilogy to begin with.

I'd actually feel terrible that Ashley or Kaidan didn't get squat and would probably avoid the forums for awhile.  It would be a mess, methinks.

I am an optimistic, I always try to look at the bright side, Bioware might have overhyped ME2 a little too much (I enjoyed it alot more my self, tho I can see the hatred for it) but I do have hopes that ME3 will be very good and if it's not, then I will organize a mob to attack Bioware HQ

They would also have to give other LI a romance scene since some (like my self) dumped Ash and I am good friends with Liara.

Hmmm....I don't know about the ME2 LIs getting a love scene in a Liara/SB expansion (they already have one in ME2) but I would hope Ash and Kaidan get some loving too.

Agree, I have always assumed the expansion will include Ash/Kaiden content, not just romance stuff. It would be very cool though if they did do the comented romance pack, that would have to include all LIs. That would also create yet another issue unless they pull Liara and Ash/Kaiden off the sideline before its released. Otherwise, they would be slapping those fans in the face since they will be excluded just by proxy.
