Also, Liara not really explaining more about her "friend" is more for meta reasons. It's basically BioWare saying "You want to find out more? Buy the new comic book!"
Wow, is it really? Pretty sneaky!

If her purpose was to destroy the SB for the better of the galaxy, Shepard would be the best help she could wish for. Same if she's out to find and possibly free that Drell. Except if she wouldn't dare to tell Shepard about her "friend"... urgh. I know you have dismissed that idea, but with BioWare/EA nothing would surprise me anymore.
She doesn't ask for Shepard's help in her quest, because Liara is aware of just how important Shepard's current mission is. Liara can't distract Shepard from that, and she realises how important it is that Shepard succeed in this mission, and that if Shepard is distracted there's a very good chance she could die. Liara doesn't disclose the full extent of her hunt for the Shadow Broker, or ask for Shepard's help on an even greater level because she's trying to protect her, and ensure she succeeds in her mission and comes back alive.

Helping Liara find and locate such an elusive and powerful entity as the Shadow Broker is alot more of a harder, arduous and difficult task than helping a woman ensure the safety of her sister, helping someone kill their daughter, protecting an assassin's son or helping someone exact revenge.
Liara's hunt for the SB is on a far greater scale than any loyalty mission, and alot more difficult to accomplish too. Liara would want to keep Shepard away until after the suicide mission is complete, in order to ensure Shepard gets back alive. Liara is protecting her.

I still dont think shepard needs any protecting we are talking about the most bad ass solider ever who came back from the dead I think its more liara is trying to get her away because she knows shepard has big stuff to do and that she will not be able to deal with the sb with shepard being around

It's not protection in a physical sense, more an emotional and mental one. If Liara lets Shepard know that the Shadow Broker is aiding the Reapers, and needs to be stopped, what are Shepard's chances of survival going to be if she has all of that on her plate too? Liara is protecting Shepard in the sense that she wants her to come home alive, and doesn't want Shepard distracted at all by another huge player or tool of the Reapers.

yea but its not that hard to work out tim mentions it in the game I think that the collectors were after your body I do think we read to much into it and that is biowares fault for making it way more compilcated than it needed being
they could have just done she is scared she would be hated for giving miranda your body and upset that shepard sent her away before she dies
seeing your loved one die in front of you and you cannot do anything to stop it makes you feel powerless and makes you go into yourself or throw yourself into your work
btw sorry for keep saying she for shepard most of my shepards are fem so shepard is a fem for me

Here, it sounds like you missed this dialogue choice, wolf. Watch this, and you'll see just what is really going on with Liara, how she feels about Shepard, and her true motive for going after the Shadow Broker:

Heh, you're missing the point I'm trying to make.
I'm saying that Liara would not want to disclose the full extent of the Shadow Broker's involvement with the Reapers, or allow Shepard to help her any further, because Liara is aware of just how risky and dangerous Shepard's current mission is. She doesn't want Shepard to be distracted at all by learning that the Reapers have another pawn that needs to be dealt with, and Liara doesn't want more things for Shepard to worry about, all of which could affect Shepard's performance and cost her her life.
That way, Liara withholds teling Shepard the full extent of her hunt for the Shadow Broker, or letting her help out, because she's protecting Shepard. She's making sure that she comes home alive by not distracting her.
