Do you think it should be more?    She's not particularly tough, not compared to a Krogan, specifically Wrex, who I would give Regenerate and 4+ toughness.

But she has biotics! Very powerful ones I might add ^_^

Seriously.... a level 60 Liara is a one-woman wrecking crew, even on insanity.

But does Magic: The Gathering have a biotics analog?  Hmmmm.........

I do find it odd that it's not really touched upon how precociously powerful Liara's biotics are. She's only 106, and yet her biotics are already extremely developed and she's capable of looking after herself with them when attacked by pirates and slavers whilst on expeditions.

There's probably a number of reasons for this. One of them being genetics, as Benezia is a very powerful biotic so Liara would have inhereited that from her. Another being that Liara has taken the time to train and hone her biotics herself, as she says to Garrus in one of the elevator conversations when Garrus makes the assumption that all asari are skilled biotics, but Liara corrects him by saying that she has had to work hard to become as skilled as she is.

Do you get the impression that in ME2 Liara has improved her biotics further?

For some reason, in my head!canon, Liara is the most powerful biotic in the ME universe.

I know it's mentioned that Jack is likely the most powerful, but I just love the idea of Liara - either appearing as her ME1 "doctor" persona or ME2 "businesswoman" persona - unleashing an unrivalled amount of biotic power.

True, but I just wasn't sure what source of ME material to use as a proper gauge.  In Redemption, she's throwing frickin' biotic tornadoes and doing biotic martial-arts, and in ME1 her powers weren't quite that advanced.

Very possible she was able to train her biotics unrestrained by any rules since she needed them during lonely journeys.
That's why she could develop in so young for Asari age such powerfull skill as Singularity... (by the way why i think that skill is a heritage from her "dad"?, and call me crazy but i still think that Aethyta is Lia's daddy  and she uses singularity as one of the skills).
And about her biotics in ME 2... it's really hard to tell since we don't saw any even slightest example of her skills, heck i wonder if there was cutscene showing her fight whit Nyxeris which could gives good indication about her current level of biotics.

But looking at redemption shots i would say that she strengthned her biotic further but full asses of her powers we will have (i hope) in ME 3 or DLC.

Agreed! Plus, Jack can't completely destroy a room full of enemies without firing a single shot like Liara can.

I also wondered how strong Liara's biotics are plotwise compared to the other squadmembers.

Heres my take on it.

Morinth>Jack>Liara>Samara>Thane?>Miranda/Kaiden.

Dunno if thats true.

Think Jack is supposed to the "the most powerful" human biotic.  Human biotics would still be no match for an Asari who are all natural biotics while the other races all use implants and such to gain their biotics, even Jack.  While jack would be powerful she still wouldn't be a match for Liara/Samara/Morinth.

I think that as she grows older ultimately Liara will end up being the most powerful of all of those. She's a relatively youthful maiden, and yet her biotics are already extremely powerful and very well developed. As Liara continues to age and mature, logic dictates that her biotics will continue to develop too, and she will be very powerful and skilled indeed.

I had an awesome idea for a scene; in which Liara, just wearing her usual ME2 dress, gets ambushed on Illium by a bunch of mercs or thugs on her way home, and manages to take them all out before they get even fire a single shot at her.

And then there would be an awesome shot of her just walking away from their twitching bodies, her high-heels echoing around, lightly dusting herself off as if nothing happened.

Well both Jack and Miranda are geneticaly created biotics when Liara's powers are let say "gift of the nature" and here lays general difference between her and Jack.

Jack's problem is that her powers are enormus for a human biotic but she pays rather harsh price for that (her body is burning out (at least i heard such gossips)) when Liara's powers grow up whit her not endagered her life at all.

I suppose that Lira could reach or even surpass Benezia's powers in very quick time and trully become most powerfull biotic in the galaxy.

While i believe that Liara is naturely a stronger biotic than Samara, i still belive Morinth will be strongest plotwise. Since she from the start a strong biotic (being the daughter of Samara), combine that with the fact that she gets stronger with each kill and you have an asari who could proberly get godlike biotic powers should she survive to the matriach stage.

EDIT: Sorry folks, my grammar skills sucks today! :(

personally I'd say Morinth=Samara>Liara..............>Jack>Wrex>Kaidan=Thane>Miranda>Jacob

edit: and yeah i agree, as Liara matures she will eventually surpass both Samara/Morinth and one day even Benezia.

Hah! That sounds like an awesome idea for a scene indeed.

I'd imagine that Liara would be a regular target for thugs and muggers, being that she's renowned and well-known on Illium, so there would be alot of scum and low-lives who would try to rob her. Just another reason why she's so sad, lonely and stressed out. :(

Samara and Morinth are equal.   The only reason Morinth was able to stand up to her mother was because she had killed so many people through mind-joining.  Morinth could have become more powerful than her mother if she'd kept killing, but Ardat-Yakshi also received diminishing returns from mind-joining over time.  Eventually she would plateau.  Samara, as a Justicar, and not nearly ready to give up her dedication to the Code, would also become more powerful through continued practice with her biotics.

I'd rank them the following:

Morinth/Samara>Jack>Liara>Everyone else

Hmmm... i see one general problem wht such comparision.

Tricky part is that we really don't known how strong Liara is in ME 2 to create relayable comparision, when we get chance to more or less test all rest of the "subjects".

However there is indication how strong Lia could be... i doubt that Nyxeris was weak Asari because she won't be putting in such high position as SB personal observer.
Fact that fight between her and Lia were pretty quick can say pretty much...

Hmmmm. Can't remember where it states that. But still Morinth is 400 years younger than Samara and she still managed to lock her into a stalemate despite the fact that Samara got the jump on her.

my rank would be:
Everyone else<Jack<Morninth/Samara<Liara
as liara is longer and has longer learning span in front of her than Smara/Morinith

Jack is the most powerful human biotic in the Galaxy, or so the game claims. We don't know how that would compare to an asari like Samara or Liara. Based on the fact she can blow through YMIR mechs and an entire prison garrison, something tells me she could hold her own against the best.
