Remember in ME1 when Liara explains how deep and spiritual the asari union is to her, and how much it means? One of my favourite conversations, as it shows how special Shepard is to her. I also love her line "I have never been more sure of anything in my life", just epitomises her love and devotion for Shep.

Yeah, that was wonderful to listen to Liara in that scene.
You would think after Shepard and Liara entered the Union, it might mean more to both of them once Shepard comes back.
Even Liara said herself that the Union isn't just normal sex, it is the life blood of the Asari species. Their relationship should mean everything to them once they have done something like that.

second.

There are so many good scenes between Liara and Shepard.

It's funny, I saw a Mass Effect meme on deviantart earlier and one of the questions were "What was your initial reaction to the revelation that the Collectors are what remains of the Protheans?"

For me, it was "OMG LIARA WOULD WANT TO HEAR THIS WHY ISN'T SHE HERE I MISS HER".

Yeah.  Too bad they ruined it in ME2.  Take a look at the two threads about Liara that are currently underway (Stay Faithful and I couldn't Let You Go).  Non-Liara people see her in a very, very negative light.

Me too.  I think it would have been a very interesting romance if kept non-sexual or to make Shepard wait until ME3 to get something more from Tali...another missed opportunity IMO.

All the ME2 romances seem to move too fast and come to a premature completion, IMO.  This probably has to do with the fact that these romances won't be much of a focus in ME3.  Seeing as how each of these charcters could be dead, they had to finish the romances and give each a sense of completion prior to the suicide mission.

Leaving room for my deeper bond with Liara to flourish and reach it's special conclusion.

How would you think alot of the fanbase would react if they always intended for Liara, Ashley and Kaidan to be the deeper and more developed romances, and will receive the majority of the attention in ME3?

Well I think a lot of people will be upset.  But at this point I wouldn't put it past them.  They did it to us ME1 LI fans, right?

They continuously fail to understand that people grow attached to the characters they create and want to build deeper relationships with them and see them carry forward into future iterations of the franchise.  The whole set up of ME2 seems to miss this very important fact (as does DA: Awakenings).  They designed ME2 as a suicide mission, where everyone can be dead, making it really hard for them to bring characters forward into ME3.  They told us they didn't want the ME1 LIs involved so they would be certain to be available in ME3.  All indications are that the ME2 characters won't get a lot of play in ME3.

And they are certain to get a firestorm of anger over that.

Maybe they will learn their lesson and add these characters in for ME3...but I wouldn't count on it.  Nor do I think it will be easy for them to do so.  If I were a ME2 LI fan I'd be quite concerned, and those who aren't are deluding themselves.

And if ME2 characters are ME3 squad members then many will be pissed at BioWare's hypocrisy/lies because they said Liara, Ashley and Kaidan were not part of the crew so they could survive into ME3.  So if ME2 crew members get big roles in ME3 that was obvious BS.

On the subject of romance resolutions, there are just too many romances to acceptably end right now unless a few end in tragedy. Outside of Ashley/Liara/Kaiden you have Miranda, Jack, Tali, Garrus, Thane, and Jacob. Each one is SO different from the other it will be quite a task to manage 9 romances! I imagine some will be reduced to NPC status, so your interaction with them will be limited and probably just result in an epilogue scene, which wouldnt be terrible as long as it is acknowledged. I also imagine ME 1 romances will get special attention.

I can see a few ME 2 romances as more serious than others. I imagine Miranda will be a big romance and plot point as she is also one of the harder squad mates to kill on the suicide mission unless you are really, really trying to kill her. Tali seems like she could be important with the Quarians playing a bigger role in ME 3. Garrus is a given for females, as old Garrus will always be around. As for the others, that is really up in the air...

Once they start releasing ME3 info, if any of the ME2 crew come up as squad mates I'll flame this forum incessantly till they are forced to ban me.

I try to stay away from threads like that, I just get angry or depressed with what is being said in them. But it's not like BW do Liara any favors with how they portray here so what is new people going to think about her? One just have to see how many ME1 players have left her and now hate her character.

While that would be my natural reaction as well, I'm not going to do it.  First, Bioware may have actually learned its lesson and changed its plans with regards to ME2 characters based on reaction from fans this time around.  And second, I don't wish the disappointment we went through on the Tali or Garrus or Miranda or Jack fans.

Thane fans know what they go into, however, and no one romanced Jacob, so those are different.  ;)

Wouldnt have a problem with ME2 coming back as squadmates in ME3,but if the ME LIs are in for another round of signpost duty I consider the whole thing about saving them a lazy excuse.

And I might consider not buying ME3,while I want to know how the trilogy ends I dont want to know it at all costs.

I'll do my best to make it epic.  With all the outright trolls around here, you'd have to do something pretty over the top, or on point, to earn a ban.

They never promised ME 1 cast would be part of the crew, only that they would be important.  I am sure a few will end up on the crew, just as most of the ME 2 cast will.  There are a few with story reasons in both games who WON'T be members of the crew, but will still probably be important NPCs.

I was just replaying Dragon Age and damn the team interaction is leaps and bounds better than ME 2. I did a simple task, releasing a blood mage from his cell, and ALL THREE of my team members had an opinion on it with unique lines. Throughout Dragon Age your characters chime in about the environment, your character, the quest, and little things. In ME 2, the characters seem so static and the blatant sloppiness of making out with Liara while you have another active romance, as one example, to no reaction is disappointing.

Well, that whole "could be dead" thing is a pretty good story reason.

I see some ME 2 squad mates as pretty critical. Frankly, if you got them killed then you are likely to suffer consequences as you should. Bioware has made it clear that if you screw up you screw up and they aren't necessarily going to accomodate your basic failure in reading when they create the characters.

Miranda is probably critical, so I imagine her role will be large. She is your second in command, after all, and as I said, very hard to kill. I will be interested to see how Liara interacts with her and the Illusive Man, especially as the latter doesn't trust the Asari.

Garrus and Tali will probably stick around for awhile. Most games have a character or two that follow you throughout the series, and no one else qualifies than one of them. Garrus has more reason to stay, as he basically has no other friends or relations and the Galaxy thinks he is dead anyway. Tali may have reason to leave...but still not very much.

That's probably more along the lines with what I would "actually" do.  Trolling is too much work, at least to do it well. :P

I wouldn't mind seeing Mordin and Grunt back though, they were kina cool, and of course Garrus and Tali.

I shouldn't have to deal with them at all in ME3.  I basically told TIM to **** off and Miranda wasn't loyal anyway.  I better not get shackled with them again in ME3.

Mordin was a personal favorite of mine. Mordin singing is one of the best moments in gaming history.

You know what's kind of interesting...I actually didn't care much for Garrus or Tali in ME1.  I mean, they were fine, but they were near the bottom of the list as far as how much I liked them.

After ME2 I like them a lot more.  They feel like old friends.  I used them in my squad a lot more too.

When it comes to team interaction DAO mops the floor with ME2. The ME2 teammates don't seem to have anything to say about anything in comparisons.
