I miss helmets for squad mates.

*Sigh...* Apparently someone in Bioware watched too much X-Men or any other superhero stuff so they should rename ME 2 to ME X-Men edition:P.

By the Goddess... as more i look at the ME 2 them more i see how ridiculous is whole plot in general.
But there was already in off beating of the poor horse here so this time i will skipped that...

Beefy PCs with powerful processors and tons of ram are pretty cheap these days. The only thing you need to watch for is that they have an NVidia or ATI graphics card in them. The Intel graphics chips just dont do most games.

I'd like to get a gaming laptop, actually.  Maybe next year.  I don't know a thing about all the specs I would need.  I'm a dummy.  Sorry for being off topic...um...

I <3 Liara!

Jackie Chan could defeat Commander Shepard, but only if the fight took place in a factory that produces jackets, chairs and ladders.

That having been said, the artist has made some progress on the Liara & Shepard picture I've commissioned from her. She put a ton of detail in to the Illium city-scape. I wasn't expecting that.

EDIT: Removed the artist's name, for her privacy, I guess.

Gaming laptops are a joke. They're more expensive, aren't user-serviceable, and are really expensive to upgrade. Plus they run hot, suck up battery time, and are just plain awkward.

I custom-build my desktop machines from parts bought online. It's a lot cheaper that way, you know exactly what you're putting into your machine, and you can even do your own maintainence. Building a computer isn't as complicated as one would think, either; if you can assemble a bicycle, or one of those big home theatre/entertainment centers, you can assemble a computer.

If it's the artist that I suspect it is, then this Shepard/Liara piece is going to be incredible, and I really can't wait to see it.

For curiousity's sake, will it be male or female Shepard with Liara?

It's not MDK, if that's who you have in mind.  The picture will be of default male Shepard and Liara.  I regret nothing, FemShep-enthusiasts.

Yeah, that's not who I think it is. Plus, you referred to the artist as female, and last time I checked MDK is definitely a dude. ;-)

Can't wait to see this Liara piece. Looking at some of the artist's other pieces, wow. It's going to be incredible.

Exactly, with Liara in ME2 you have to analyse it and read between the lines. To say that Liara is now "dark" or "evil" is a gross simplification. Or just flat out false.

So we're agreed than that ME2 is not a hack job? Because a hack job has no subtleties or reading between-the-lines content. What you see on the surface is what you get.

Personally, I think Liara's character wasn't handled as well as it could have been in ME1. But once I finished her quest, I felt that her characterization made a lot more sense. It was still, I think, a bit too sudden of a shift from her previous character, but it wasn't a complete disaster.

ME2's story is still a hack job.

The Liara piece isn't as bad as some make it out, but it's far from great. They tried to do too much with her character in a very short cameo role.

They definitely could have done a better job, however.

No disagreement there. It is disappointing that you don't get an email. But I'm firm in my belief her role in ME3 will be much larger.

No, we're not agreed. ME 2 was most certainly what you call a "hack job", and the Liara scene especially. In fact, there is quite a bit of evidence that her scene was planned quite differently but hacked apart and put together again. Which would be the definition of a hack job, wouldn't it. What has been called "reading between-the-lines" is actually mostly a lot of speculation and a good amount of wishful thinking, the only things we can do because the actual content leaves little to be discussed, other than how awful it is.

Yeah, but at the very least they did give Kasumi an extra line if she was your romance, which was nice. I also believe that ME3 will have her back with a large roll.

Yeah, I'm not one of the Liara fans that think that the general direction that her character has been taken in is a poor one. I don't mind it, I think if it's handled well it can make me love her even more (if that's even possible!) and makes her very sympathetic, and deepens the Shepard/Liara romance story considerably.

What I do have a problem with is the execution, which I think has been handled pretty badly. Like you say, her current character shift is very believable, and is consistent with how Liara has been presented previously, but it lacks clarification and exposition. My theories and analysis all make alot of sense, I think, and to be honest with you I think that they will turn out to be true, along with what I predict will happen with Liara. However, we've got nothing concrete regarding Liara in ME2, nothing "confirmed" so to speak. Until we get that, what I theorise and analyse with Liara's character is still just mere speculation. I'm hoping that the Liara DLC will clarify and explain Liara a bit better, which I honestly believe it will.

I think Liara will have quite a large role in ME3. It wouldn't surprise me if she were on the cover. I hope you guys get what you want. I like Liara, though I don't post here much because my interest in her has nothing to do with the romance and everything to do with wondering how the Shadow Broker arc will play out and whether Liara will succumb to her demons. I feel like I don't belong here.

The execution is poor, particularly if you don't follow through on her quest.

I do hope BioWare goes the route you propose. Liara's one of the few LIs who you can't really influence in much of anyway. You can shift Kaidan renegade and Ashley paragon and you can do the same thing with most of the LIs in ME2 but Liara is always... Liara. That's not necessarily a bad thing (regular Liara is a really nice girl to have around), it just constricts her character in a way that most LIs aren't. I like the idea that, like Leliana in DA:O, you could potentially shift her either towards her ruthless dark side (sinking her even deeper into it) or back towards her warmer original personality.

I also do think the upcoming DLC will have something to do with the ME1 LIs, though I'm not sure if it will be Liara specific (though the cut content seems to indicate as much).

I don't actually mind people discussing whether they think that Liara will allow her sorrow, grief and guilt to consume her. I'll disagree and debate it, of course. :P But every facet of Liara's character needs to be discussed and analysed, IMO.

Like you though, I'm confident to almost certainty that Liara will have a large role in ME3, along with the surviving Alliance soldier.
