I'm sure that survey was done just for fun, but I'd be deeply disappointed with Bioware if they gauged whether or not a character should be in ME3 by how often they were brought on missions, or how often they died on the suicide mission.

Many people seem to think that if they don't like a character, they should get the character killed.  This is okay from a roleplaying perspective, since every person's save-file is his or her own.  But for Bioware to take this data in to consideration is silly.  Other players like those characters, and had them survive the suicide mission.  Some players had them all survive the suicide mission.

I suppose if it's a matter of logistics, then there's nothing I can possibly say to convince Bioware, but I would definitely miss Jack and Samara, both of whom scored less than 3% representation on that survey there.

I'd hope not too....Jack's my favorite ME2 character and I take her with me pretty much all the time.  If they go by that, I definitely contributed to Jack's numbers :D

Samara's my second fave character and I take her along a lot as soon as I get her in the party.

It just seems the old ME1 characters are the most popular on the forums but they shouldn't shaft some of the new characters b/c of this, I agree.   Some people take characters along not b/c they are their favorite, but b/c they are the most useful in combat.  I hope that is all BW is doing with this....trying to gauge what characters are most useful in combat so they can tweak that system in ME3.

I would like her motivations to be more than just feelings of guilt or self-loathing over what she believes is a huge failure on her part. I would like any potential SB storyline to tie in to the main story somehow and give this whole Liara/SB in ME2 some purpose in order to make up for the hack job done to her character.

This.  Even if it does end up feeling incredibly contrived at this point as just a way to band aid this thing, the only way to really save the character is to tie "whatever the SB is up to" into the return of the Reapers somehow.

Otherwise we have to accept that she is just a weak woman who can be completely driven to the breaking point by her emotions and feelings toward some guy she knew less than a week. <_<

We all know where I'm betting my money, though I would be glad to be wrong for a change.

I still think the SB is "neutral" because that was always the point -

There were a lot of things in ME1 that had points that no longer do.  Just saying.

Aria being Liara's father would be super awesome. Do want!!

Liara would have an awesome pair of parents, and would consequently have alot of hereditary awesomeness!

That asari bartender would be cool better.

Noooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah I hope they come up with something better than either of those two.  That would be pretty lame.

I agree to a point.  I don't want her to come off as the typical 'weak woman' who cannot handle emotional stress, but I think it wouldn't be related to Feron specifically but to feelings towards herself.....guilt and self-loathing over failing someone.  I see Liara as a person who has succeeded in life at everything she's tried to do and now she feels she has failed in a big way and this is what is bothering her.....Feron being captured  just represents a failure to her and doesn't reflect any feelings she has for him.

What exactly did she fail at there?  That seems awfully weak to me that she can't move on with more important things, like, oh I don't know, Shep returning from the dead maybe?  That she would devote her entire life to getting revenge for some random merc who acted like an ass all the time and whose name no one will remember in a few years? <_<

If they don't tie everything she has done up to this point back into the main plot of the Reaper return, or at the very least twist it so that her motivations are stemming from her emotional ties to Shepard I don't see much hope for the future.

I do agree that her reluctance to join Shepard would be strengthened if the SB ties in with the Reapers somehow.  I hope this is the case.

I just think Liara might have a bit of a 'perfectionist' mentality and would become obsessed with one of her failings....she would obsess over trying to fix it.   She says that she 'screwed' the mission up with Feron and I think this may bother her more than Feron being in danger itself.  Feron is dead and cannot be saved for all Liara knows.  Why does she continue?  To fix her error.  She's a proud woman who may not be able to handle failure.  Thus, this vengence thing would be more selfish.

Ah... how many times will we rehash the simple poor explanation for Liara's lack of involvement in ME2?

They didn't do it well at all, that's just the bottom of it. People who feel compelled to defend Liara's character may also feel compelled to defend her reasons, of course, but in the end they weren't Liara's reasons at all and shouldn't be defended as if Liara made them.

She didn't. There's nothing to defend on her part. She's utterly innocent, a victim to her writing.

Well, we don't have anything else to do until they fix it....if they even fix it.

Sorry, did I let all of the air out of the argument? That was very inconsiderate - we'll fix it!

Is not!

I be very considerate. I understand that debates are a national forum pastime. Especially between release dates when people are at their most restless.

I must be careful not to interrupt heated debates with silly things like reason and sensible perspectives. That's no fun, that is.

Pictures of cute babies aren't enough to make me happy about Liara and her role in ME2.
