preliminary results up on the poll @ http://docs.google.c...jZWMyMTA3&hl=en
Not surprised...people want the old squad to return, especially the ME1 crew....Liara, Ashley, Kaidan, Tali, Garrus. It seems most are still attached to one of them.
I think that's quite telling. If I had a nickel for each time I argued on this forum that trilogies shouldn't abandon their important central characters in the second part because people grow attached to those characters and their inclusion is what truly resonates with the audience, I'm sure I'd have at least $2.50 by now. Possibly as much as $5.00.
The point is that people love the original squad. So much for cool, interesting ME2 characters. While I like a couple of them alright, they are just not as good as the original cast, and people are still attached to the original crew.
Btw, how do I vote on this poll?

Pictures of cute babies aren't enough to make me happy about Liara and her role in ME2.
How about pictures of other blue ladies?

Ah... how many times will we rehash the simple poor explanation for Liara's lack of involvement in ME2?
They didn't do it well at all, that's just the bottom of it. People who feel compelled to defend Liara's character may also feel compelled to defend her reasons, of course, but in the end they weren't Liara's reasons at all and shouldn't be defended as if Liara made them.
She didn't. There's nothing to defend on her part. She's utterly innocent, a victim to her writing.
This.
Perhaps some kind soul should print this out and NAIL IT TO THE DOOR OF BIOWARE HEADQUARTERS. I'm sure some of the devs would agree and maybe even split off of the comapny.

Oh Nightwriter, you are SUCH a character!
I suppose I can be...
I'm listening to a Tiny Tim song and I felt whimsical.
It is just scary how easily influenced I am by the music I listen to. My brain's like a tuning fork. The other day I was online and listening to an Alanis Morissette song, and terrible terrible things happened, terrible.

For example, the elcor tell you the emotion of each statement they make before they make it, supposedly to help with communication. Meanwhile, back in KotoR, a certain assassin droid did pretty much the same thing...though he told you the purpose or type of statement he was going to make. But it amounts to the same.
One day I'll try to come up with a list, but so far I've been too lazy.

There is some, yes, mostly in the EU. They can't have kids, and it's mostly used as a plot device within multi-novel story arcs. Most of the time one or the other gets killed off or leaves the relationship for some reason, however.

If they don't tie everything she has done up to this point back into the main plot of the Reaper return, or at the very least twist it so that her motivations are stemming from her emotional ties to Shepard I don't see much hope for the future.
But...they are, Nozy. Did you miss it or something when Shepard calls Liara out, basically saying "This can't be over some friend. What's really going on?" and then Liara's floodgates open? Her chief motive is her guilt for what she had to do with Shepard's corpse, her fear Shepard would hate her, her sorrow surroundng Shepard's death. That's all based around her love for Shepard. I understand you being sceptical of BW's writing, but what you'v just said is there in black and white in ME2.

Yep. The X-wing series alone has at least three.

Well, and there's a certain cute, young, slightly innocent blue twi'lek in KotoR who, at least on some level, might be a precursor to our favorite Asari. They aren't the same character, but there are influences I think.

Hmm, so if I were technically considering restarting my self-insert, post TSL fic with my human Padawan going for Mission... they'd have to adopt? ... wait, they would already!
