Liara already feels unwanted by her 'father'....it can't get worse, only better.

Agreed.

When Liara's got a caring Shepard and friends, she doesn't need the father she never had. It'll still hurt, of course, it always will, but I'm sure that even if her father came back and opened those old wounds, the right support from Shepard and/or any other caring hands could guide her through it.

Plus, Liara's got a bit more of a backbone than I think some are giving her credit for.

She does definitely have the backbone.  I don't think she'll be crushed if she does eventually meet her 'father' and this person wants nothing to do with her.  As you've said, Liara has other people she has become close to...Shepard, maybe even some of the other Normandy crew like Garrus or Tali.

Well shes wanted by my Shepard.:D

She's wanted by all our Shepard's here.

But a non-romanced Liara should have some family!    Like Aria....

Id rather her have Feron.:bandit:

OH SH*T!:D

Non-romanced Liara won't get spineless Feron . . . she'll get Ash! Happiness all around!

It'll hurt Liara, though. But she'll definitely be able to cope. Like I've said, Liara seems to have accepted that her father has never been there for her, and has come to terms with that. She's very emotionally strong, and she's not a delicate flower like some make her out to be. With Shepard's support, Liara would be able to cope with any possible meeting with her father, and any pain that may possibly cause.

Pardon me if I sound trite, but what happened to the original title of the thread?

Myself and Nozy had a bit of a heated debate. He changed the thread title in his anger.

Perhaps someone else should make 3.0 when this one is locked.

Liara is also an adult, and will be able to deal with it, even if it takes awhile.  She lost her mother, lodt her best friend/lover for over two years, and is managing.  Albeit, we haven't seen her come back fully from that yet, but she will!

I love the idea of Shepard doing a personal mission with Liara, discovering who her father was, and processing it with her.

Also, if Liara were to ever meet her father, I think she'd be more angry at her for the pain she caused Benezia, rather than her not being there for Liara. Like I said, Liara has accepted and made peace with the fact her father has never been there for her. But the fact that Benezia was in pain and it affected her quite deeply, I think Liara would want to bring that up with her. She must have seen first hand how much pain the seperation caused Benezia.

I see. Well it would be a real shame for a fandome to splinter like that, there really isn't much I can offer but my hope that this won't ruin the thread or the fandom.

If we were going to speculate on who Liara father is based on conversations with the other Asari Aria and Matriarch Aethyta then out of the two of them. Aethyta could be Liara's father and Aria could be Aethyta's mother.

Aethyta mentions she had an asari mother and krogan father and was a father in a pureblood pairing.

Speculation regarding Aria is that she was connected to Wrex, then going by the name of Aleena (Aria does state she has had many names). Aethyta mentions that when her parents had a fight after discovering they were on opposing sides they died. We know that due to the location Wrex had his fight with Aleena, the place blew up and Wrex presumed her dead but then later got the message "Better luck next time" which as already stated is a line Aria uses to Shep.

I don't really think Aria is Aethyta's mother, just an idea that if they were going to link those Asari together, that would be the family tree. I seriously doubt Aria is going to be Liara's father though. The only logical sense is Aethyta being it, specially as she states how being the father didn't work out for her.

We'll be fine. There is a bit of a split amongst Liara's fandom in terms of a optimistic and pessimistic outlook and expectations, but it never normally causes any problems.

Thanks for the best wishes, though. :) Liara's fanbase is strong, even if a little down and depressed at the moment.

Oh goddam, more trouble!

Don't let it stop you from spreading the optimism around, Enfants! Liara fans need this very much! I can;t wait for the new dlc announcement. It's most likely not Liara, but, it could be. Wouldn't that be awesome?

If it's any consolation, I am sure Liara fans will for the most part be happy with her in ME3.

There's nothing logical about that.  I'm sure there are many asari that have fathered pure-blood children and the union didn't work out.   Aethyta is one example and Liara's father could be a completely different one.

That's really too many asari that we know about in one family. I can handle Aria or Aethyta being connected to Liara. But not both.

Okay, that's a lie. I'd be able to handle it. I'd just be rolling my eyes the entire time.

Ulrich or whatever, there are more than one Asari mentioned that had a pure blood daughter. It could be any number of Asari, even one we haven;t met yet!

My money is on Aria, but that is just a guess.

Besides, if all these connections turn out to be true, and that Aria is Aleena and fought against Wrex, and that Aethyta is Liara's father and that Samara fought against Nihlus, wouldn't it make the galaxy seem incredibly small? Everyone connected to each other like that.

Well Samara did fight Nihilus, but I agree on you with that. The galaxy is huge I dont think either are Liara's "father".
