There was a huge fight between a couple of posters.
In any case, I'm back....

Nah, remember MDK has a pic planned for when the thread reaches 1000 pages! Don't let Nzoy get in the way of that! Maybe when he cools down, he'll change it back.
Wait, the MDK that just quit on this thread four pages before this post? That I can't blame, much, either?
As Stubbs said, a lot of this is really, sadly, because there is one among us who is just too damn passionate about Liara, and has proven it time, time, and time again, by rising to the bait of the so-called negative nancy's and taking nearly all personal attacks as something that must be violently defended.
Sorry, les, I hate to say it ... but look at the facts. First it was you and scmadsen against GuardianAngel470, then it was you against scmadsen, then it was you against dink, and last night it was you against Nozy, when Nozy got more violently angry than ever. There's a common thread here, and I just don't know why such a nice guy is said common thread.

The only thing is hes so strong against criticism, or negativity. You need to look at both sides, and he should just be a bit more open to it.Shavon wrote...
No offense, but some of you guys need the optimism. Lesenfants is passionate, but that's a good thing. He just expresses his views. Other people participated in those discussions as well, that's not something you can blame all on Enfants.

Shavon is right. No single person was at fault -- if anyone's to blame, there's enough of it to go around for all of us. That said, the blame game can kindly jump out of an airplane without a parachute...

MDK, pelase don't let one argument between a couple people taint your view of the entire thread. Most of us that are regulars here don't approve of what happened, niether did we have any way to stop it. In all honesty, this was very tame compared to the other support threads, and fortunately it does not happen as often.Metal-Dragon-Kiryu wrote...

Just jumping back in the thread to say that its surprising to me people are "abandoning" ship at the first real sign of fire. I would say across the internet, what was seen here was, while angry, not something worth growing despondent over. Arguments get out of hand, but adults move on and keep going. Shutting down and taking your toys and going home...c'mon folks, life is too short.
This.
Why is everyone quiting? Come on folks don't let the best thread die now!

But I think that's enough discussion about the past. What's done is done and all you can hope for is the community will survive it and grow stronger for it. Best to stay on topic too.
Does anybody have any thoughts as to what Liara's feelings about the other crew members of the Normandy would be? Either ME1 or ME2 works. Personally, it never seems to me that she interacts with anybody besides Shepard and Ashley (during the confrontation) much but I'd love to hear what you guys have to say about the subject.

From the various crew comments during debriefing sessions on the Normandy SR1 after the completion of major story quests, I'd say that pretty much the entire crew respects Liara. The elevator comments add further support to this idea; both games seem to emphasize (at least for us Paragons) crew unity...
Jacob seems to respect Liara enough to mention her by first name, when you meet him in ME2.

Very true. I think we're finally starting to relax a little, though I do think that even so we should see how well we do up to 1000, then migrate to a new thread to divorce ourselves of the negative energy.
And by negative energy, I don't mean negative opinions about Liara. Or the scene. I want to go on record as actually defending the comic book more forcefully than I have the cameo, and that's saying a hell of a lot. Nozy, dink, and sc all have the right to their opinions, as does les and Stubbs and myself and everyone else, and I think that these are all supportable opinions. OPINIONS.
The facts aren't up to debate, naturally, but there aren't many of them. And yet when I get called unreasonable for disputing a stated fact on logical grounds (that may have been the H-bomb in the thread), when said person gives their justification in admittedly reasonable (even, nay especially for his state of anger) form in said response post... that's just not my idea of civil debate. But I just hope that that's over for good, one way or another.

I don't feel Liara's has the type of personality that would clash with any of the other ME1 or ME2 crew's personalities. We see that's she's very poised and calm during the romance 'conflict' with Ash or Kaidan. I believe she would respect each of the new ME2 crew members and they would probably respect her in return. I don't see her having any conflicts with any one. We know that Liara knows Miranda on a first name basis and they appeared to get a long fine in the comic book.

I appreciate it. I've been thinking hard about how I want to write it without going into schmaltz. I think it is going to be a more mature view of a relationship, I hope.
With that said, this thread, this forum in general, is about groups of likeminded people getting together to talk about their favorite stories, characters, and other parts of the ME universe. We can complain, rightfully so in some cases, but overall this is a nice corner of the internet to relax and not get drawn into the maelstrom of anger that is all around us.
Whether in the internet or real life, the world is a very angry place right now. I would hate to think we would explode over a fictional universe that gives us the briefest refuge from all that.

I'm not a regular so my perspective is somewhat lacking but in the past I've experienced a lot of hostility for having a positive view of ME2 in this thread. So I hardly think the overreactions are limited to the "optimists."

I like this post (Jayla approves +11!). And I have to say that as a player of ME1 before ME2, I like ME2 just fine, I just like ME1 better (though I actually, crazily enough, like the mission structure of the second game better ... then again, I didn't much like the Hammerhead OR the Mako, maybe that's it.)
I think that in the first game she probably has a lot of unseen interaction with Dr. Chakwas -- she IS spending most of her time in the medical bay storeroom, no? -- and so she'd probably find her most familiar on both ships. The problem is, Dr. Chakwas isn't developed nearly as much as I'd like her to be.
I see her interact with Ash and Kaidan a lot in the missions, and ... I personally get the vibe that Liara thinks of 'Miss Williams' -- "Okay, she doesn't like me and doesn't even seem to have a good reason not to. But she's usually quite good at hiding it." With Kaidan... I think they should be decent friends, especially since Kaidan is apparently more default Paragon than Liara is. (They both seem idealists yet pragmatic.) He just doesn't find himself attracted to her... or does he? That "I saw her first" line, doesn't he say to a MaleShep "By about five seconds, sir!"?
