This used to be a thread where folks would look at things and speculate and argue and work things out with each other.  Now its all about picture spam and heart smiley faces and anyone that thinks bad thoughts about Liara in ME2 needs to be villified and run off the forums.

I think you're just taking this a bit too seriously. The Liara thing as well as people disagreeing with you.

I've pretty much given up on BioWare already. Someone above asked if I care about their survival. Well... not really anymore, I guess. Wouldn't have thought I'd say that some day, but what can you do. If ME 3 is like ME 2, I won't buy it (maybe later from the budget bin). So if they continue to go down the current route, they can just as well disappear completely as far as I am concerned. Of course I don't wish for it, why should I. Not that it's likely anyway, they are probably making more money than ever before.

I can't stand what they did to Liara, and with ME 2 in general, and I'm not expecting a proper Liara DLC. So what. Doesn't mean I can't participate in a discussion about my favourite character in one of their previous games. Maybe they'll notice that there's a significant number of people who'd like to see her back in ME 3. If not, so what. I'll just keep my money. There's nothing else we could do even if we wanted.

Now to people disagreeing. So what. Happens all the time, especially on the internet. Not worth getting all angry about. Sometimes you can present facts, sometimes people are even willing to change their view. Sometimes, it's all just opinion and personal preference though. Like in this case with Liara. You just have to agree on disagreeing and move on. Doesn't mean everyone can't present their views. That's a successful discussion, not only if in the end everyone agrees on the same view.

And that's that. Won't change anyone's mind either, but so what.

Sorry, but no, its too late now.  I'd be ashamed to associate myself with the Liara group at this point after they way everyone acted the last couple of days.

So, I'm going to leave you all here in your little made up fantasy land where Liara's role in ME2 was so great and grand and made such perfect sense while folks like myself and Dink who think Liara deserved more and deserved better than an out of character cameo that completely lacked depth and motivation will just go our own ways.

Don't worry though, once the thread is full of motivational pictures and huge posts of nothing but smileys and BW sees how happy and content Liara fans are and give you another big helping of "crap on a stick" for an expac because no one is left around willing to talk about all the bad things in regards to Liara in ME2, we'll be back to tell you "I told ya so".  At that point you'll have no one to blame but yourselves.

I'm going to come out of my self-imposed exile to respond to this.

You say people here are in a fantasy land - that they won't accept the views that Liara's cameo in ME2 was anything but perfect.

You know what? I don't like Liara's role in ME2. I've accepted it - and have learnt to find the good aspects of it - not because I'm living a fantasy, but because I care about the character - and I'm willing to accept things I don't like.

I've mentioned before that I was initially appalled by Liara's role in ME2, and I still wish it was different. But at the same time, I don't go round telling people that it's bad to be optimistic about Liara's future in the ME series.

You're right - Liara did deserve better - but we have to accept it and move on - love it or hate it - and complaining about and "discussing" the issue really isn't the way to go.

@Everyone: I've decided to come back to this thread, and whatever future threads get made. Things seem to be calming down, but let's not forget this.

It's okay to have differing views on things

But be careful how you discuss and debate them with people. Name-calling and personal attacks aren't the way to go.

Let's try to restore the good reputation of this thread.

On the side note.
I agree whit bolded part because last thing this thread need is pointless flame war over something what lays beyond our influence powers. because "...we have dismiss that claims" devs policy become dangerously common lately.

I have a pretty similar take on the situation.  My two favorite characters were butchered. And there is no undoing that.  And the new Li' i moved on to, has a f*cking terminal illness.  But it doesn't stop me from enjoying ME2, despite this and other flaws.

I'm very glad you decided to come back, MDK.  We need more people like you, with this sensible attitude toward everything.

Hmmm....no one here thinks Liara's role in ME2 was so grand and wonderful, not even acceptable. Everyone hates it. This doesn't mean we should give up hope for the character's future or stop supporting her in the present.

Boy, am I glad I don't drink IRL. It's fun to see Shepard three sheets to the wind, but not me...

Could anyone imagine what'd happen if they managed to get Liara drunk?

Fun times and zany hijinks.   She'd probably act goofy as the alcohol would remove her reserved demeanor.

I wonder how melding with a drunk asari would differ from a sober one.  It be...hazier?  Would you feel drunk too?
