Did you figure out it was Liara straight away when you went to Therum to pick her up?

I actually didnt, I figured it was Liara when I saw her. Something about Tali at first didnt make me think she would be a LI.LesEnfantsTerribles wrote...
I think alot of you guys who thought Tali was the romanceable female alien initially probably did so because she's the first female alien that joins the squad. It's natural to assume.

Hmm, it should be up by now. I'd try checking again, and if it's not there, then try again later today.

I think that's why. I figured out it was Liara by looking it up on line. I was worried b/c there was no 'flirty' dialog with Tali (and I was trying!) so I thought I messed up. Then I looked online, saw the romanceable female was an 'asari' and not a 'quarian' and I realized I just had the wrong one. I didn't even have Liara at that time, but I ran to get her so I could get my female alien loving going on.

You gotta love how Liara maintains her calm demeanor and poise when Ash insults and teases her. She doesn't rise to the bait at all. Plus, Ash thinks that Liara is good looking!

I've never seen the Ash/Liara confrontation and hate watching it as I love them both
I pretend they are great friends.

Anyway, back to the topic. Once I saw that Liara was a permanent crew member, I immediately hoped that she would be a romance option, and fortunately there were very promising signs of that. Just like I already disliked ME 2 before meeting Liara, I loved ME 1 even before meeting her. Her romance was the icing on the cake, so to speak. And it turned out almost perfect, the developers certainly did a fantastic job back then.

Yep, the romance dialogue and progression with Liara is great. The development of Shepard and Liara's relationship and love feels very genuine, very real and very mature. It's believeable. It feels like how a realistic attraction between two people would develop.
Some say it happens 'too fast'. What you say to that?

Curious, I never thought that Tali might be romanceable, and I never wished for it either. In fact the first time even the possibility occurred to me, was when I read the ME 2 forums before release (usually I stay away from any information about a game I'm interested in, but I had a bad feeling about ME 2, and I'm glad I was warned before playing it). I admit that I was - and am - very surprised about the apparent demand for that romance.

Like we discussed over PM before, J. It's restrictions to the amount of romance dialogue with Liara imposed by the fact that she can be picked up quite late. Consequently, they had to condense the development of Liara's attraction into a fewer amount of romance conversations. If you actually listen to how Liara's attraction develops, it's very believable and healthy. It goes from an interest in Shepard on a scientific level to the development of romantic attraction. It just feels quick because they were limited in the amount of conversations they could do.
