So, archeologist Liara....was she a professor at an asari university or a free-lancer?

Very good question! I don't think we're ever told.

We have to bear in mind that Liara says she has been alone for the past 50 years whilst she's studied the Protheans. Do you think she could be a professor at an asari university with her being alone for so long?

If she were, she'd remind me of Indiana Jones. Adventurer archaeologist!

I can see it both ways. Part of me likes the idea of her being an adjunct somewhere. She can't get tenure because her theories on the Protheans are treated in a joke. But she refuses to give them up because she believes in them and herself. Intellectual honesty trumps a department chair.

Crap, sorry about that. I copied the wrong IMG code. *facepalm*

I came up with *this* during the afternoon.

An idea for a Mass Effect 3 poster. I tried encorporating the title itself, but it wouldn't work with the composition. And yes; lots of red. I might do a version with a different color scheme though.

It's too bad we don't get to know more about her past. It's one thing Liara and Shepard should be talking about in a sequel, if such is ever going to be made.

Indiana Jones is a professor as well.

I'm thinking, in the MEU, companies would employ archeologists, especially those that like travel and adventure, to go combing the galaxy for the next big Prothean data cache discovery.  Thus, there might be a need for archeologists in the private sector while, today, there aren't.  They are all professors and engage in research for the sake of the field itself.   I always wondered what type Liara was.

If she was a professor, she'd have students and teaching responsibilities, so she wouldn't have been completely 'alone' in that sense.   Also, if she's been on her own studying them for 50 years, it means she would have completed her doctorat at age 56, which is pretty young for an asari.  I do recall that Samara mentions that Morinth set out on her own around age 40 and how 'young' this was.  It's tough to judge how young it is in human terms as we don't have the proper perspective to compare.

Indigo, I like it. The reds with Harbinger and the rest of the Reaper fleet in the background really gives it an ominous feel, but having Liara and Sheploo together at the bottom gives the impression that there's hope, that sapient life will pull through and survive. I like the pose that Shepard and Liara have, it's like "I've got your back, my love!"

Great work.

I like it, the color scheme not so much though. Maybe keep the reapers in red, give the planet a blue paragon touch, and keep Liara and Shepard in their normal colors.

I see what you are saying.  She's not a tenured professor or even on that track, so must set out and find her own funding source to do her work and to prove her theories.  This means working for a company that might finance archeologists that go digging around in old Prothean ruins, hoping they'll also uncover some useful Prothean technology.

The more I think about it the more I know what I want out of Liara for ME3 ... and I know it will never happen.  Darth Khan T'Soni.  I want her to be the antagonist for ME3.  How?  I haven't a clue, but that's what I want, but I'll settle for Liara as a squadmate w/ a happy ending.  ;)

I can't see Liara being a professor.  Maybe she tried it for a little while, but grew tired of it quickly.  She is in her maidan stage, after all.  But instead of dancing on tables and joining merc gangs, I love to envision her traveling alone to unexplored worlds, seeking knowledge of the Protheans.

How cool is it that she got her youthful thrills from uncovering ancient ruins?  God, I love her.....

I believe she is a freelancer not working for anyone. Remember her mother, Benezia, was very powerful and wealthy. Liara could spend most of her life not having to find sponsorships with the family wealth at her disposal.

Would they be aware of the fact that Liara has her own reasons for studying the Protheans, and her own area of expertise? We know that Liara specialises in the Prothean extinction, and studies and theories about that specific Prothean subject. If the companies are aware of that, would they be reluctant to financially back Liara as there's less chance she'll uncover any Prothean data caches and the like?

Indigo, try putting a very small version of the Mass Effect logo at the bottom and centre of the poster. If you do that, I think it would be very professional looking.
